Looking for a suppressor for 6.5CM and 338LM. I shoot the 6.5CM most of the time and 338LM from time to time. But if you guys think that there is no one universal tool I would go with the 6.5CM suppressor only. This will be my first silencer.
My budget is $1200
Thank you very much!

Honestly I would get two separate cans. The best option for both would be a TB 338 Ultra. They are almost 2K.

I would focus on a good can for the 6.5 and then one for the 338 down the road. 338 cal suppressors tend to be big and long and expensive. You could use a multi cal style can rated for it, but performance will probably be terrible. Better off with a good brake if recoil reduction is goal.

Dead Air Nomax 33 would probably work well. The 3d printed XC models seem to have done well so far and this seems to be the 33 cal version of it. Looks like MSRP is a little above your stated limit but actual retail is often a little better and I bet you could sell the xemax brake/hub adapter and replace it with a DT hub adapter and save some $/weight/length.

I second this

Can I expect the same accuracy with the recommended suppressors ( Dead air nomax and TBAC 338 SR?
This 995m on 24”x24” target with 6.5CM.

I run mainly TBAC cans on my precision rifles. I have yet to see where my TBAC degrades my accuracy in any rifle they’ve been on from AR’s and bolts

If anything they’ve always improved

My cheap go to for anything can is my SilencerCo 36M. On the cheaper side and ASR brakes are plentiful

You just going to use it for range fun? You can get something like the HuxWrx Flow Range 36. It’s shorter and lighter and can use up to a 9mm or a .338. Will also be less than your price range with the tax stamp.

I have used it on .223 up to .30 on rifles and it works great. It’s a low back pressure can so you can toss it on an AR too. It’s a pretty versatile first can.

There’s a few that come available in the px from time to time.

As mentioned above,

A suppressor that does its job well on a 338 will be large in comparison to one that compromises size and effectiveness on a 6.5. I’d personally get two

I bought my one and only can many years ago. My 6th can was a 338 Ultra Gen 2 SR

My advice is buy 2. One smaller and 30 cal and one larger for the 338 size. In the long run I think you’ll be happier

Just gotta say after picking up my own TBAC 338 suppressor and using it on my 6.5CM today... such a pleasant thing to shoot. Sure you can go lighter and shorter with similar performance, but I like the extra volume personally.

I would go with dedicated cans long term, but nothing wrong with starting big.

Same experience. I see the value of the dedicated cans approach, i just had so many SR mounts and started with the 338 can I decided to standardize all my AXMC barrels to the SR so I knew I had one can that would work well with all of them if I wanted to simplify the gear haul to the line.

I’m going to use it only on my two Sakos TRG for range shooting. I don’t hunt anymore. So yes target fun only.

Then get one of the Dead Air 33 and run with it. Can use it on both and if you wanted to get a shorter cab down the road for the 6.5 you can. Lots for good deals out there now. Silencer Shop has some free stamp deals now too.

Here is a Nomax 33, Silencer Co Hybrid, TBAC Ultra 9" and TBAC Ultra 7".

338 Lapua needs volume. There is a reason cans for this caliber are much bigger. The Hybrid is a master of none suppressor, it makes for a heavy pistol can, OK rifle can and loud 338 Lapua can - not hearing safe. It actually works well on my 458 SOCOM that needs the bore diameter and has more pressure than pistol cans can handle, but that is another topic.

Just because it can handle the pressure does not make it a 338 LM can. Same for other over bores of comparable size.

The Hybrid actually does well with 300 BO because even though the bore is way to big, it has a lot of volume compared to the tiny power charge.

Same is true for the Nomax 33 and 6.5 CM. I use my Nomax on a Desert Tech with both 338 LM and 6.5 CM barrels. Does great with either.

And yes, I am a TBAC fan boy, but not at twice the price.

This right here. I also have a nomax shooting 7mm and I just don’t believe the tbac could be even 5% better for twice the price.

Especially when you consider the ability to add a recoil x to the nomax.

I have an OCL Hydrogen L 6.5 for my CM and am using an AB Raptor 10 .338 with the reflex chamber in a 300 PRC until I break down and get a 338.

The Hydrogen on the 6.5 is stupidly quiet. I am shocked by it. The Raptor on the 300 is amazing. I am a huge fan of their cans right now.

I’ve wanted a TBAC for years but can’t ever find one in stock when I have the money for it and at twice the price of others, it’s harder and harder to commit to one.

Out of the 8 or so can I can remember in my room, my Q half nelson (replaced by upgraded but similar designs in their line up) is very quiet. All the other cans I have, including the oem5, dead air nomad, a couple of form 1 diy's etc are not even close. My Q is the quietest. Though my aac jeager30 is quiet, it's a hunting can only so i rarely suggest it to people.
