I recently added a new caliber to my AXMC. I finally got the middle bolt body, so I bought a 300 PRC barrel.

Forgot to order a bore guide, so I did what I always did: email Mike Lucas. Mike responded and said that he retired making them. I was disappointed. I read a comment from @Baron23 where he stated that PMA Tool was making similar rod guides to Mike's. I went to their site and confirmed that they did offer a similar bore guide. They made AI bolt guides, but they did not offer a guide for the AXMC. The AXMC has a larger bolt body diameter than the short-action bolt bodies.

I called them and left a message. I got a return call from Pat a couple of hours later. He said I could order a custom guide for the MC. I ordered it and was surprised that it came in two weeks. I love this guide. It is similar to the Lucas guides, but longer. I find the longer guide more stable. It fit perfectly. It is amazingly well-made. I love the metal insert. Now they will add the AXMC bore guide as a standard offering. They are worth checking out.

Good people there too. I called them about 6 months ago wanting one for my AXSA. They told me they doubt they had one, but I gave them measurements and they went and looked. Ended up having one sitting around that was not marked, and sold me it at a discount. I end up ordering one for an AXSR and my impact immediately after using the first one I bought.

I also have a few Lucas guides, and a few Dewey guides. The PMA guide is top notch.

I Nik - I had the same convo with Pat regarding the bolt in a Seekins Havak action that is fairly wide. Just as with you, send him the bolt dimensions (or maybe he already had for AXMC) and he'd get one made.

Glad it worked out for you. PMA seems like a good vendor to the shooting community and I enjoyed my brief convos with Pat. I need to keep them in mind more often when I need to make a purchase.

Hope you and yours are well and thriving.

Everyone is good @Baron23! I hope you are also well.

Pat was not familiar with the AXMC bolt, so it was new to him. I gave him the dimensions, and he took it from there. Beautiful product.

They look very nice, like an improved version of the Lucas, of which I have a few.

My problem with this style is the they are a bit cumbersome in use. I have gravitated to the Possum Hollow guides that don’t have that extra insert, which makes the whole cleaning slog a little more efficient.

Btw if you call Possum, you can get their guides made with a custom integrated solvent port instead of their plug-in version.

I get that the Lucas/PMA style insert slightly reduces rod deflection. But, for me, the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.

On my Vision pro chassis i do not use the insert, and have never had any negative side effects. Personally i cant see how one could mess a barrel up cleaning it but that is a whole nother argument.

The Dewey guides i use to use worked just fine for years, but the fit, finish and feel of the PMA's made me gravitate towards them whether or not they were actually "better" if a rod guide can actually even be better or worse....

When it comes time to need yet another rod guide, it'll definitely be a PMA.
