Hi all,

Getting back into the LR wagon and I've been eyeing the Bergara B14 HMR 6.5 Creedmoor among others that would be of similar quality and cost. What do they typically go for used?
Thanks for the help.

Ok, I can see the appeal in that what about quality/longivity and accuracy compared to Bergara?
I’ve never shot a Bergara, but from what I’ve read and seen they can be hit or miss.

Every Tikka I have owned has been a shooter. They tend to run slow but they shoot. I regret selling the few I’ve had

I’ve read somewhere on the hide that the Bergara Premier series is made in the USA and are good. Regular non-premier ones are mass produced in Spain it seems. Tikkas are good as mentioned in the comment above.

If I was you, I’d keep an eye for a sweet used custom build (less than 500 rounds) in PX. You might even find a whole package with a high-end scope, rings, etc.

My girlfriend has a Bergara HMR Pro in 6.5 Creedmoor that she uses for PRS (that now lives in a MPA Matrix Pro chassis). The link below is a post I put together on the load development workup we did for the rifle. It's been a great shooter. I'd recommend the HMR Pro series (uses the Premier actions) over the regular HMR. However, you are getting real close (dollars) to just buying a Zermatt Origin action and prefit barrel for that kind of money. If your budget can stretch a little, go for the Origin and prefit. Sometimes you can find used Origins in the px.

I dislike the Tikka because they use proprietary mags unless you swap the Tikka stock for an aftermarket chassis that uses AICS mags. They are great rifles, but have some negatives in my opinion. It all depends on what you want to do with it. The Bergara is a Rem 700 pattern, so the upgrade options (chassis, triggers, etc) are endless. Not so much for Tikka.
