Excited To Start A Sniper Rifle Collection From FL

What is a sniper rifle?

How much do you bench press?

Do you do concrete work?

Are you a troll?
LoL. Everyone has to start somewhere. I always wanted a real gun collection but back in my 20s, the collection i
I wanted If real steel would be north of 100k. Sr-25, Ebr, AI Artic Warfare, Barrett m82a1, etc etc. Now 20 yeas later, I can finally start the journey I always wanted.

About to secure an EBR 6.5 creedmore thanks to this forum.

This is the guy selling the ebr here.

Cool, I like the M14 rifles. Prefer the "classic" M14 based sniper like the M21 or Port Security versions vs the newer EBR.
I have always gravitated toward the EBR look. I own both the EBR and M14 with wood stock in airsoft gas blowbacks. If these rifles weren't a few thousand each and if I had the space, I would totally go with both.

I don't really understand why people thought I was trolling. Are airsoft collectors looked down upon or what is the deal?

LoL what? So basically the hate came from the fact that I said "sniper rifle collection" and people think I'm trolling because they don't think I understand how expensive this can be?

What you call “hate” I would call “gentle hazing” the trolling comment is part of the hazing.

Now get in there and punch someone in the dick!

This is interesting. Well I'll post some pics of my pick ups eventually. Currently looking into making this small gun room. Collection is limited to probably 3 dmrs, 3 sniper rifles, 1 ar, 1 ak, and some pdws like mp5s or p90s. It will be small and most likely wouldn't punch anyone here too hard in the dick.

Ebr process started and currently working on a m82a1 deal. I do need to slow my roll because I feel like I am blowing my load too fast after 20 years of edging.

Adopt as many as you can afford to feed.

SH will also requires tier 1 glass. Have you priced out optics yet?

Welcome to SH.

An EBR is 6.5 Creedmoor is sacrilegious!!! You need 308! And actually you need an M25!
M14 is such a shitty rifle when it comes to accuracy it needs all the help it can get, hence the 6.5 creedmore and the loaded trigger. Sure its not the og version people deployed with but no one really consider the ebr any good either due to how crappy the m14 was as a dmr. I think an enhanced m14 fits pretty well with an enhanced battle rifle.

Been a long time airsoft gun collector and now finally moving into real steel.
In no particular order do the following:

Get a brand new Tikka T3x CTR in 308 or 6.5 creed with a Vortex PST Gen 2 3-15x in "mil" measurement. Get whatever bipod for the front. Get a rear support bag, whatever brand and type. Zero the rifle at 100 yards to be point of aim - point of impact. Shoot 100-200 rounds of whatever cheap ammo you can get at Walmart. Lightly clean the bareel. Buy and test 3-5 "match" ammo types for your selected caliber. Buy 1000 rounds of whatever brand shoots "the best" out of your rifle. Shoot 500-1000 rounds per year in various types of practice. Whether it be 100 yards only, Or stepping things out to 200 to 800. Log your scope elevation adjustments at each distance. Clean barrel every 150-ish rounds. Read more about cleaning methodology, it gets insane. Watch all the shooting videos on this website. They're worth their weight in gold.

Do the above for 2-3 years and you'll be leaps and bounds ahead of 95% of "shooters" in the country with $7000-10,000 worth of rifle, accessories, etc.

Good luck. It's easier than you think.

Or if you just wanna collect shit to LARP like an airsofter and not shoot like the other 95% of gun owners...... whip that card of choice and go nuts with a Sako TRG and Schmidt-Bender at Mile High or Euro Optic and let it sit above your fireplace so you can look at it.

Or, if you want a entry level "sniper rifle" for $4000-5000 you can find a near 100% clone correct GWOT Mk12 Mod 0/1/H floating around every once in a while.

Nice porn analogy you will eventually fit in here. Welcome, Oh and stop saying sniper rifle.

M82A1 deal I am working on comes with a new Razor Gen 2 Mrad. I'm most likely going to go with some mid tier stuff between 1-1.5k used on the forum here.
Just to clarify... You are starting your "Sniper" collection with a Barrett .50 M82?

Which is not a 'sniper rifle' even when employed by 'real' tabbed snipers. It is an anti-material rifle.

With greatest respect... please read several hundred posts and threads here before continuing to post.

And if collecting sniper rifles is in your future... check out the Vintage section.

Last... a Sniper rifle is a rifle owned or employed in the field by a tabbed, trained or school-trained sniper. They are rare. And special. Not in a short bus way. But in being a fraction of a percent of shooters. A sniper rifle 'may' also be a collectible rifle once deployed with or used by an honest-to-God sniper. See rare comment above. And Vintage section above.

Here, most are part of a precision rifle community. Snipers Hide dates back to the early days when a good percentage were snipers. Real snipers. Not LARPers. Tabbed and trained snipers. Thus the name. And the founder is one of those rare Marine Scout Snipers... the real deal. Which is why he has attracted the core of shooters that make this place amazing. For everyone else, this is a precision marksmanship forum and place to exchange ideas and info. And at that, this place is the best in the world. We are changing shooting daily.

Folks who show up to be all 'snipery' get wire brushed at a level of epic that I won't even go into. Mostly by folks who are trained, tabbed and practicing Snipers or LE Marksman Observers (who still aren't snipers) and generally who have BTDT and represent alll walks of 'interesting.'

So welcome to the group. But don't go all Snipery on us or your tenure will be short, violent and utterly %$#@ing hilarious! And before you dig your hole deeper than that beer bottle at the bottom of the Marianas Trench... pull the little excavating shovel on your Alvin submersible bathyscaphe rover back in and stop digging into the sub-ocean crust. Because if you dig any deeper with BMG Sniper Rifle Posts, you will cut through the mantle into the SH Magma, and then the response here will make the Yellowstone Supervolcano look like dropping some Menthos into a Coke Bottle. Wheeeeee!

And it will be %$#@ing HILARIOUS! Epic, in fact. For us. For you, not so much.

Consider this very friendly advice and have an awesome weekend... reading about this community and why you should never go all 'snipery.' Unless you are snipery. Which, based on the Airsoft references... you probably ain't!

But here I go, just guessing! Or am I wrong? Bah ha hahah ahah

You know this post is very helpful in clearing up a few things. I see that a rifle requires an actual sniper to be deem worthy of the name a sniper rifle(unless I am buying a sniper and the rifle which would be more of contract..lol). What I didn't know is using such term is an act of disrespecting real snipers. Thanks for the explanation.

This is a somewhat disappointing response. Because it's indicating that you are here to learn and grow. Not go all "Bow Kills, Concrete work and Velcro sneakers."

Disappointing because we live for epic threads in which newbies self-destruct in epic ways. And it's been weeks since we had one.

So you are actually off to a good start. Slow roll your posts. Fast-track your reading. You might even have a great future here!

Cheers,
