I Spy New Baby Razor G3 4-24

Well I hope it doesn't come out with another crappy ebr 7c type reticle. (Mine's going back where it came from)

Distraction, tiny 0.14 center dot.
I'd like to see larger dot if it has to be an open center, or just get rid of open center.

I couldn't see center well enough to shoot tuning drill reliably at marked increments let alone 1/2 increments. It's not a problem on my 30mm tube Vortex.

New rso said nice groups, I laughed. I could shoot out center but on 2 shot drills couldn't get many to touch and went home early to pull scope. There is no close enough, I'm not driving to places wasting gas ⛽ till I get to 1/2 increment tune and think the weight / balance of bigger tube scope altered my tune settings. Can't tell is the problem.

Can't figure why they don't offer some like their 30 mm tube sfp scopes.

Their 34 mm scopes have great features till it comes to retical choice, or basically lack of.

Yup mine is waiting too but it’s sporting its big brother for the time being.
I cracked and picked up the big brother in the PX yesterday. My first g3 Razor. Still planning on picking up the little guy when it comes out. Figured this was a good place holder to get some time behind a G3 and should be minimal loss on resale.

Seeing as we're solidly into Q3, has anyone else heard any more details on the specs/release date? I'm super interested in this scope for my gasser 👀

Unfortunately looks like the guesstimation of third quarter may have been a little premature when I was told that and I think it was Mike who said fourth quarter and looks like he will win this time.

Specs are pretty much what we have now in this thread but believe me I am super excited for one for my 6ARC too. Looks like a perfect fit!

They make black Razor's but are "exclusive" to certain retailers. EuroOptic has the black 6-36 gen3's in stock. Here's to hoping they do something similar for the 4-24.
Yeah, I’ve been eyeing them. I’m sorta set at this point, with the G2 and a couple of S&B’s, but…

Btw, Brandon/Shortbus sent me his work coating the G2 black. Sorta tempted.

Btw did he change his username or something? Can’t find him here anymore. Swore it was @shortbus

Wow, that's one of the better cerakote jobs I've seen. I like the gunmetal black or whatever color he used a lot more than the shiny black on the regular vortex scopes.

The black one is selling for less than the OG color also.

True, but keep in mind the 30% off vortex PRS certificates you can win at a match or buy from the PX work on the regular G3 razors but not on the euro exclusive black ones... Ends up being a $500 price difference between black and the regular color even if you buy the coupon for $100.

While I wanted my 4x G3s in black, to me it was not worth paying $2000 extra for 4x G3s in black... And while I may be in the minority I really don't mind that weird vortex color. It actually keeps the scope much cooler in full sun than black.

My 6-36 is the OG color and I actually like it. Mixes things up from all my other black optics.

Huh. That’s interesting. I should run a comparo…but it’s rapidly cooling off here up North here ya

While not as much of a big deal for how we use them, the S&B field target scopes for air rifle field target matches used to be anodized silver to help keep the scope temp down and slow the rate of change going from shade to full sun. When you have to very precisely range your targets using only the parallax knob, CTE of the scope and internals becomes an issue and parallax knob drift will return a different range and that can be the difference between a hit and a miss with the huge drop of pellets on tiny FT targets. Many field target shooters have large parallax wheels with different pointers or different graduations on the parallax wheel for temp correction.

Sorry for the sidetrack, lol

Anyways, the reason the G3 4-24 is delayed is because the first release is being shipped as an exclusive combo with the Ingenuity Precision powder dispenser. Should be shipping any day now...

It feels like it pushes down and locks so easy compared to effort to unlock it. Multiple times in not a lot of use it has locked when turning when I did not want it to. Maybe I am heavy handed.

Possibly. Did you buy it used? Some of the earlier run had a softer lock to them but they fixed it in later runs. I leave mine unlocked unless I am doing a stage where I am using holds and then I lock it.

Yep. Bought it used. No idea when it was manufactured.

Sorry for the slight derailment. I'll give Vortex a call monday and see what my options are.

Can't wait for the Baby Razor.

Just picked on up last week and it is my biggest complaint. Pulling the turret up almost lifts my rifle off a bench. Do they charge? Going to give them a call Monday.
They didn’t used to charge. I really doubt they do now. I mean, I don’t own one, but when they came out there were what seemed like hundreds of dudes on SH sending them in and getting them modded for free.

Or slap a thick o-ring in the gap.

Yeah give a call as if it is one of the early ones it may be locking more easily than it should. They fixed it for people back then. Some that didn’t want to send it in did use an o-ring in the gap when unlocked so it wouldn’t lock.

If they are willing to unlock it, I think I would prefer that to an o-ring. I really see no advantage to a locking elevation turret for my use case.

There’s also the printed inserts that you can get to leave it in the elevated position.

That’s why I mentioned the o-rings as it’s cheaper and easier to get one at a local hardware store than order printed parts but he said he doesn’t need it so he might as well get it taken out.
