I built a 300 blk bolt gun using spare parts. The plan is to keep it subsonic using handloads. What scope do you recommend for this? I've been thinking about the Leupold mark4hd 4-18 with the pr1 reticle. It's the closest reticle to my ZCO mpct1x without the weight of a ZCO. I had a Mark5hd and the parallax was a pain to keep adjusting. So i could go a different brand.

How far ya planning to shoot?

I would think 1-4, 1-6, or maybe 2.5-10 would be optimal.

I have a similar thing going on and will decide for sure later and likely going 1-4 or 1-6 on it.

Plan is all subs.

Unless its a hammer with 125s.
Might use those to a modest distance on critters then.

I figured a 4-18 gave me more flexibility, and also the option of moving it to another rifle, without much added weight compared to the lower magnification scopes

PM Sent. I do a LOT with the 300 Blackout. I have designed and licensed a 265g bullet for the caliber. I advise industry partners on the caliber. I have specialized load data, 10 years of testing, for non semi auto guns than make the gun MUCH quieter.

I ran a 1-8.5 Bushnell SMRS on mine. Worked just fine and dandy. If I were going to do it over, I'd probably use a Vudu 1-10x with a SR5...but that's just me.

The OG SMRS just had a little heavy of a center dot...so I actually zeroed the 1 mil mark at 100 yds on the BTR2 reticle.

1-10/2-10 are a great range. I have 2 16” 300blk ARs, one wears a ZCO 2-10 htr and the other a Razor gen 3 1-10MRAD. They are fast and quick to get on target and they are as good as my eyes out to 200yrds.
This.
The Leupold 1.5-5 blackout reticle scope also works very well. Had 3. Have one for sale since I moved to maztech.

Maztech is awesome. Have hits on things past 400 with subs

Was just coming here to post this… They’ve long since been discontinued, but got one of Leupold’s Mk4 1.5-5 scopes with the 300 BLK reticle in the first focal plane for one of my 300 BLK uppers back when they first came out:

If you can find one in good shape, that’s what I’d recommend. That said, if you’re just shooting subs, I’d just use a red dot with a magnifier or maybe an ACOG. I find shooting subs beyond 75 yards or so…hell, past 50 yards rapidly becomes an exercise in mortar ballistics! LoL

I really enjoy this scope with supers on hogs though… very good reticle for me.

This is what's on my 10" 300Blk.

And like said above, if not shooting groups, this scope is more than capable. Ive shot it multiple times to 500M with my 125gr TMK supers as well. Been on my 10" for many years running great.
