Zero Die Rings

Necro thread arise!

Now that these have been out for a while, anyone have other thoughts on them?

I bought a set a while back but just got around to using them. Not impressed.
I do appreciate that I can tighten of loosen from any angle but the finish I find quite shabby compared to other 419 things I use (zero press, shellholders, trays, etc.). The wrench doesn’t fit cleanly into the ring and the black finish chipped easily. They almost feel like the finish is too thick so the tool interface is “clogged” so I really have to press the wrench into the ring and be careful it’s fully engaged. NOT OK at this (or any) price point.

The ones I saw on a yootoob that piqued my interest were not coated - seems like a better way to go. Why do some companies show one thing and ship another? SAC - same thing - ordered a couple of things and liked the orange finish but it’s not what I received. I know it doesn’t matter but…

I found a few situations where I couldn't use/tighten standard rings on my new Gen2 Zero so I grabbed a box of 9 rings and wrench for a good deal from a member on here.

They are excellent. My wrench locks right in and tightens tight up without any effort. Very easy to set the die where you want it and lock it in.

No issues of chipping finish here, I mean mine are nitrided so nothing to chip..

Also very thick and beefy and solid.

They do exactly what they were designed for, expensive but mine are very well made like every other Area419 product.

I guess I got a bad batch or something. I do agree it’s nice not to have to remove one die to loosen a die ring on the next die. The wrench is “fussy” getting it to line up properly and it doesn’t drop right in as I would expect - I have to push down firmly to get the wrench to engage.
