This is the British SA80 conversion kit by Ally and Kaufman for the Brownell's BRN180 upper in 5.56. It is an excellent copy and fits perfectly with no modification to either the kit or the upper. I did have to make a copy of the SA80 flash hider to accept the SA80 bayonet. The Brownell's upper has a standard 1911 Picatinny rail so I had to make an adapter for the original British SUSAT sight that has a 19mm rail. My copy of the original flash hider, pinned and welded to the barrel, brings the overall length to a legal 26.5 inches. The rifle handles and shoots great.

SA80 bayonet. This a shoot thru design that fits around the muzzle. The blade is offset.

Neat! The original SA80s were very cool looking. It's unfortunate they were such shitty rifles.

They evolved and the later ones were excellent.

Don’t forget, the M16 got a lot of guys killed in Vietnam… but here we are 60 years later and it’s still the best in the world.

Well, except the AUG. And the HK. And, well, the AK. And the FAL.

But regardless. Teething problems aside, the SA-80 has earned its spurs.
