What in blazes does faxon ship inside their barrel as a protectant?

Brown nasty tried 4 cleaners already.

Going to get Eds Red out of quarentine, wife doesn't like it. Lol

Cleaning suggestions and a slight chafing expected.

I gave up cleaning my more recent Faxon barrel and just installed it. I haven't shot it yet but figured I'll shoot 20 rounds next time I go to the range and try cleaning it again.

So far sweets, two flavors of Hoppes and pro 7.

Wife can throw a fit, too windy outside.

Use boiling water, then compressed air to blow out the water, followed by oil patch if you don't intend to shoot it for a bit.

The Eds Red pretty much finally did it in.

Stuff was kind of rust colored which got my attention quickly .

Must have some type of plastic ? compound. Strange stuff.

I bought a Shaw AR 10 barrel a month or so back and initially thought the bore/chamber was rusted but after running a brush and a couple patches through it I'm not sure that it wasn't copper anti seize.....
Ended up using Zepp parts cleaner to get it all out.

Kind of the copper antisize color and sweets turned blue so plausible.

Why would anyone coat inside a barrel with that, I use it on barrel nut. As a preservative a grease would be way cheaper and not as nasty to deal with .
