I bought a Leupold HD MkII 5 7x35. Mounted it on a Remy action, 20 moa rail Sighted it in, did nicely, but when I checked I only have about 15.5 mils elevation. I called Leupy and the guy said thats just the way it is. I ordered a 40 moa rail, but it shows 5.83 additional mils. Other than getting a higher moa rail (not easy to find) what can I do to avoid needing to do a hold to reach past a mile?

That scope has 29 mils of elevation total so about 14.5 mils on a flat base and on a 20 moa base it should be about 20.3 but that’s in a prefect world. You could just get a 20 moa mount or a 40 moa rail like below.

I agree that you should have more than 15.5 on a 20 moa base but how much more you need? What caliber and range you shooting?

On this rifle 6.5 Creedmoor with a PVA 24" barrel, wanting to get to a mile. A stretch but I think with the=PVA im might do it. Then I want to move up to the 7prc
