Maggie’s What's Your View II

The scary part is over... Got everything apart with no drama. Hardinge HLV spindle. Original issue was a chewed up belt. The belt was chewed up because the main motor pulley was broken, but with the pulleys loose, the spindle was still kinda "clicky" which is never a good sign, so I popped the spindle out and got to the bearings to find that it was just dried up grease causing the stick/click. So hopefully still a functioning lathe :D

Finally found the time to re-zero one of my ARs that I just rebarreled.

The red dot was way off, but surprisingly the laser was still dead on ‍🤷. I don’t remember dismounting the red dot or even changing the adjustment dials when I swapped out the 6.8 barrel for a 5.56, but I must have done so at some point.

We waited until the sun went down and fired up the Nogs, and the IR laser on my gun was dead on/right on top of the readjusted red dot at 100 yards. Only went out to 150 tonight because my knees were done, but my buddies were out at the 300 yard position showing off for half the night! LoL

And they were my ride home, so I was stuck…just got home 1/2 hour ago. Good times though.

The last Saturday of deer season.

Looking downstream on a historic mining town in NorCal. This was some of the flatter ground we covered

After we hit 3k+ (>1k meters) in elevation, we were up in the clouds and rain. Visibility was about 15-25 meters with knuckleheads driving 30mph + with their headlights off. 🤬😵‍💫

We did find deer, but they were does, fawns, and yearlings. The weather broke a bit after noon and we retraced our route back out because the winds were dropping snags right and left in the burn scars. After 3 fresh falls in 1 mile I said enough.

We had some of those a couple weeks ago hunting a burn scar.
Nothing huge falling, but a few.

And climbed over a bunch that were tickling my taint carrying out 100+ lb pack with my good friend’s elk (1030 opening day he dropped it).

My reply was to @Bryan W M and his little guy helping him on the truck.
A good man he is.
Especially being from KS. 🤣

An arc GIS capture of the AO showing burn peremitters. My deer zones are to the West of I-5. Those were the Mega fires including the Carr fire (2018), Delta fire (2018), French Fire (2004)

The ZZ Top lookalike is one of my older hunting partners Red. Jr. Was home cleaning and reorganizing his work gear after having been out in a Spike Camp for the California Conservation Corps.

The last 25 years😢. One of the ones East of Redding marked the end of that career. The body said No More.

Put a couple engines up for sale to finish paying a project at GAP…. Dad collected them for years, sold the collection for mom several years ago. I kept these 2, posted both only planned to sell one. I haven't had interest in restoring engines in years.... Keeping the Briggs FI generator. Sold the old Lindsay air compressor.

Since the GAP project is paid off, guess I will get this generator redone.
