An "alien" visit could easily be staged and the masses wouldn't know the difference.
Those who do know would be silenced as "misinformation" and "conspiracy theorists".
Same wave length,...
My guess is something like this will be used to take total control, before total economic meltdown.

Something to think about is that pretty much most of recent "Science Fiction" movies and just about all of the "Science Fiction Anime" and various YouTube short stories all seem to be conditioning folks to accept the same story plot:

Bad Aliens come
Earth's only chance is to unite in a one world government and do as they are told
Glorious one world government defeats the evil aliens and rules the world wonderfully well.
Any who rebel against the new united government of Earth are traitors to their own species.
Humans never ever want to go back to not having a one world government.

Not everybody remembers, but I remember in the decades leading up to homosexual relations and homosexual marriage being not just legal but like the most protected thing ever, there was a whole lot of propaganda in the "entertainment" sphere that was pushing that.

Long before the Democrats made DEI a thing with jackbooted laws and corporate rules, it was being pushed in popular "entertainment".

Years before the Plandemic, there was a huge campaign in social media to totally vilify anyone who didn't want their kids injected with random "vaccines" and getting people to hate them and want bad things done to them...

Things don't just happen suddenly, the groundwork is prepared and the public is conditioned long before to accept what they are "suddenly supposed to accept"

If it is indeed an alien spacecraft/probe it will not be for the benefit of humankind. When it comes to the survival of any species it is Always about resources.

And the faint protection that NASA and current tech could protect us in an actual alien encounter is laughable in comparison to anything that has interstellar ability.
