The Fix from Q

SIGs tapered muzzle is open source so nobody needs permission to use it. Q however may force Proof to use it if they want to receive extensions to make barrels. I however hope they do not unless they include their own flush adapter to go with the barrel so people can run normal muzzle devices.

The drawing is open sourced on our website.

I get busy for 5 min and Q SELLS THE B/T barrels. Dammit Kevin. I missed it. I wanted a 20 inch Bart.

Still the best gun I’ve ever owned. The Fix is awesome. Wish I hadn’t had to sell the Proof barrel but life is what it is. Love this gun. It’s right up there with my SR25 for awesomeness.
Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate the support. IG message what barrel you want, and I'll look and hook you up with a killer deal.

For sure, the 16” feels night and day different than the 22”, in a good way.

I’m trying to decide whether to shorten up the 22” or just wait until Q has 16” 6.5 barrels in stock. A 20” Proof 6.5 barrel would be pretty slick too though.

The 22in may be good for long range, but kinda of wish I had bought the 16in 308 now. Part of me may keep the 22in Bartlein because it may have some value. Cutting down the 22 seems sacrilegious to me

As of earlier today they were still showing 16” 308 barrels in stock. I had planned on cutting down my 22” 6.5 (non B/T) barrel, I’m glad now I procrastinated and was able to both keep the long barrel for longer range stuff and get a light, short barrel for shooting critters at moderate ranges.

@Kevin Brittingham and anyone else- Anyone have personal experience with proof barrels? My question is barrel heating and cooling. My buddy competes in prs, so I go with him and enjoy shooting my Fix. It’s great but heats up pretty quick, so:
does proof heat up as fast?
Does proof cool faster?
Should I just wait for larger diameter proof/traditional barrel?
Not looking for hear say
Thank you

I will tell you that my proof carbon could handle longer strings that my steel medium Palma.

Had one in my cart when the first were announced. At the end of the day wasn’t worth almost 750 with the tool. Figured I would hope a green mountain gets released at a lower price point

I’m saving my nickels and dimes for whatever length (20” ??)proof barrel comes out. Heard nothing but good things about them.

If anyone bought a barrel last week and are wondering why it hasn’t shipped yet, it is because Q doesn’t have any boxes to ship the barrels in and is waiting to get boxes...

If I could get like a 7mm-08 or 308 in 20 Proof I may sale my 22creed and go for that. Seems like it would be a good balance.

I wish kB would work with wto and see about making a 7mm saw fix. That would be lights out imo

Proof barrel came in. Time to switcheroo with the carbon fiber one. KB always comes through!

KB that’s a cool thing to do for @Movistar. I got lucky and snagged his Proof like one minute after he listed it. He’s a pretty decent guy had a crap run for a short while so it seems like its all coming back around for him. Good to see good things happen to good people.

I think a 20 inch CF Proof barrel in 7mm Creedmoor would be the ultimate fix set up

My Q journey ends today. Realized I need a new car and the Fix is first on the list to go... unfortunately. Building it at Q made it worth buying in the end. Fun fact I thought I'd share... I got the same ukelele case the original prototype was shipped in. Ended up matching my rifle perfectly. Think it was a tenor sized uke' case.

That is cool as shit! What is the model of the case?

Disregard, I found it.

They will make it right if you send them an email. Happened to me when I sent mine back for the bolt fix. Got it back without a cherry bomb and they sent me one overnight along with a bottle rocket.
How’s the bolt?

I think the lift issue will be negated when we get a knob that we can actually run. Excited for the drop!

Bolt is fine at speed. If you try to go slow you get hangups. I'm happy with it once I figured it out.

I would love to find out, but the barrel that I ordered last month still hasn’t arrived. Must have been impossible for Q to find a box to ship it in...
Just send Torri a message she will get it out same day.

I’m glad that you find it laughing funny KB, but the not so funny truth is that your service rep is the person that told me that my barrel hadn’t shipped because Q didn’t have any shipping boxes.
That’s not funny, that’s pathetic.

My PMags are failing to feed due to being sloppy in the magwell. I have had to put a sticker on the trigger guard to rock the front of the mag up. This is with factory sellier and bellot 140g.

It was a day or two delay on a few barrels, if any. We sold more barrels than anticipated. Ran out of barrel boxes, ordered more, shipped barrels. Sorry for you hassles. Order date? I'll look into it. I don't think it was a month ago. All barrels ordered have now shipped, I believe. But, I'm happy to confirm for you. You are anonymous, so you will need to provide some info in order for me to be less pathetic.

I'm not sure about S&B ammo, thats not something we would use or test.

Several of us have issues with feeding in the 6.5s across several types of ammo. 20 round mags are much worse than 10s. Pmags, kac, Larue, doesn't matter. The front of the mag sits too low so bullet tips jam into the feedramp or back of the barrel. Using a sticker, Velcro etc on the front of the trigger guard or rear of the mag shims it to line up better.

Maybe the mag well needs to be tighter due to being so shallow compared to an ar. I don't know. I don't know if the 308s have the same issue.

I said that I ordered it last month (the morning of 4/30) which is 100% accurate. I didn’t say that I ordered it a month ago. For details, it took 6 business days before the barrel was received by FedEx and it still hasn’t been delivered to a major metro area (Las Vegas). A business week to ship and another week in extremely slow transit. I don’t know what level of FedEx you shipped it via, but I have never experienced this long of a ship from the east coast. Luckily this is not a critical item in my life so the slow process isn’t a big deal. Just a little surprised that an in-stock item would take this long to receive.
You have a business to run and don’t need to be spending time on a noncritical customer order. I appreciate your involvement in this thread.

I had a Chance to take out my 6.5 creedmore Fix last weekend. It shot great. I was shooting Hornady American Gunner and it was easily sub Moa at 100 yards. The gun cycled fine, there was one instance that I ran the bolt really slow just to test it and it did fail to feed correctly. If I run the bolt medium to fast I have no problems. I really like the rifle but it does seem to have a lot more recoil them my other 6.5s but I expected that due to the decreased weight. Overall the rifle is a real winner and I would recommend it to anyone

I'm pretty sure that no one will have any direct experience, but hopefully someone here may have some insight into how a 280 Rem AI would work in the Fix? Looking for a bit more punch than the 6.5 or .308 in the short action standard bolt face. Application is mostly for hunting.

Not sure how recoil, feeding etc. may be. Or if its is a dumb question please let me know. I realize that barrels for these things are hard to find, but I think if a guy sends a barrel to Q they will add the extension for a fee. Likely the only way to get barrel like this. May be cost prohibitive, but just checking into options. Any insight would be appreciated.

280 is a long action round if I'm not mistaken. The fix is short action so you'd be limited to something like a 7-08 or 7 creedmoor.

I would check 10 rd mags.

I apologize. You ordered 4/30 at 6:43pm. The barrel did not ship until 5/08. I think that's too long to wait to ship.

Kac 10rds are what I use. They give some of the same issues just not as frequently as a 20, Kac or larue. I would tweak the feed lips but then I don't want to run into a situation where they no longer work right in my mws and have to segregate mags.

It amuses me a great deal how they are giving you shit for not designing your bolt action rifle specifically to work reliably with a 20rnd assault rifle magazine.

At no point does it occur to them how absurd this is...

Not giving shit. Pointing out that there are some 6.5 feeding issues across many mag and ammo combinations. On that point though, the gun is supposed to be designed to accept sr-25 type mags correct? Even though a 20 round magazine may not be a common setup for a bolt gun I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a $3k gun to feed from a quality mag, of the correct style/pattern, regardless of capacity, if one needed it to.

I have no interest in trying to start a shit show. Just pointing out that some of the feeding issues aren't that uncommon.

They make a drum magazine for sr25 rifles.

Maybe it would feed better for you...
