I thought it would be fun to show off some excellent groups at 100 yards. Please include the rifle and ammo type.

Both of these are 5 shot groups from a Vudoo V22 16inch Kukri contour barreled action in an AIAT chassis.

Ammunition was SK Standard plus

Here is another one. 5 at 100 yards. SK Standard plus ammunition. Vudoo V22 rifle. Wind got ahold of my 2nd shot.

This was yesterday, was having some extraction issues so I went home and did a full cleaning of the chamber and get any lube, carbon ring, etc out. Then had a few minutes at the range before dark. Shot a few shots at 25 yards to make sure my POI was still the same. Dialed 1.9 mils for 100 yards, and fired 5 shots. Not my tightest group, but repeatable .5".

That a good looking group! Very nice. Sometimes it is luck. Sometimes the stars align. While the 6x5 is fantastic I have a few single anomalies that I would like to share here for fun. Thanks for your contribution.
 
The 452 was a very capable system too bad they discontinued them. The 457 does look nice though.
 
Another set of targets shot sitting with back rested against tree. Shot to check POI prior to hunt. Eley match. On small targets at 50 and 100y POA was bottom of dot. 200 yard target was center hold.
One of the few rifles that does not change POI due to different hold or rest. Bench, tight sling prone etc.

I don’t keep targets but here are 2 that I thought were worth hanging on to. Both are 5 rounds at 100 yards both shot prone off a Harris and a TAB rear bag.

Here is another target, 50 consecutive rounds 5 groups of 10 rounds each. Also shot prone off a Harris and a TAB rear bag. This one was shot with my Anschutz 1827B with a Benchmark 3 groove 15 twist barrel and Eley Match ammo.

Here is the Stiller 2500XR (bottom rifle in the picture ) I used to shoot one of the 5 rounds groups, it was barreled by Killough Shooting Sports with a Shilen Ratchet 24” 16 twist. I had to extensively modify the extractors to get it to extract and eject reliably, I also had to shim the magazines and chamfer the bottom of the bolt for proper feeding. But it was a shooter!

When you want to show what a 22lr rifle is capable of, go with a one shot one dot target.
Rule number one is hit what you aim at. As a confirmed tree rat chaser, you only get one shot to get 'er done.
That loud bang has a tendency to make them a bit jumpy, so you aren't shooting groups.

This is what happens at 100 yards with a 455 Varmint with a Lilja barrel.

I hear ya' RTH1800.

I just don't have any spectacular runs of 5 shot groups, only random acts of accuracy.
But I do have a few of those 30 dot targets where I was able to keep all the shots on paper.
Figured it would do as a way to show what can happen with decent ammo and the wind cooperating. :D

Using a .22 LR for small game hunting has challenges beyond group shooting. For me the difficulty was in finding a .22 that retained it's POI at 100 yards and beyond that did not change with positional changes. I shoot offhand, sitting over knees with and without sling, prone with sling, prone without sling, resting over log, off bench, resting against tree with hand between tree of course. When you find a rifle that does not change POI under those conditions, keep and treasure it.

Pillared and bedded the action, then epoxy bedded the barrels in 3 places.
One epoxy shim is 3 inches forward of the receiver/tenon joint,
another is just atop the sling stud location, and one half way between the others.
Stops stock flex and barrel whip, produces much more consistent results.

Excellent!
I was not as technical, I just bought 20-25 good bolt action rifles and shot them all to find one that met my standards. About a 5 year project.

I would say to a large extent yes they do. Not certain how they handle a tight sling position. I would not care to hunt with a chassis type rifle in the timber.

It wasn’t the best conditions today with the air temp at 26f-27f, 22lr doesn’t behave when it gets below 40f and starts really acting up in the 20’s. But I finally had a chance to give this target a try. I know my Anschutz can do much better, but I’m not going to have the air temps for at least 4 more months so this will have to do until then.

Very nice Jesse.
Not so easy as you might think.
Between wind and ammo variations
makes it a good target to work with.
The instant feedback helps with setting up the next shot.
 
Great target! the outer circle is just under 0.6 MOA and the dot is under 1/8 MOA for the 100 yard distance, so yeah you had better be watching that wind! Unfortunately here in the winter with everything frozen stiff and plenty of snow cover the only wind indicator is your last shot :mad: HA
 
I found my Vudoo likes 65 inlb front and 45inlb rear. It is more consistent in both an AIAT chassis and a Manners T4a with that torque.

@reubenski - you have an indoor spot down in the Springs or do you come up to Denver?
I live near the indoor range here.
We should grab a beer if your up this way.

Need to get through the holidays and see about sneaking up to my buddies and do this.

I dont have a fancy rifle (yet) and would still love the challenge.

Well, I'm an old timer. Got two more birthdays 'till 60. That comes with occasional bouts of nerves, poor eyes, and little time "in the space," but occasionally I catch a break. I shoot an Anschutz 1906 with a Leupold scope they don't make any more and the most common stamped-out bipod you've ever seen. I only shoot Midas+, but that may be that I don't know any better. I could certainly use a coach. Anyway, I popped off seven one day at 100 yards. I guess one more would have jinxed it :)

Thank you. I've been blessed to be able to afford some equipment and recall a little of my youth. I miss he company of other shooters, though as I recall, many could be frustrating. I especially miss my coach. That infinitely patient man whose likely gone on to a better world.
 
G'day Mykrolian, yes nice shooting. I have 20 years on you/ 80 this year but you have to be positive with everything you do. Watch the wind and flags ,shoot sighters /pick a condition and wait till it returns .I do not hold off but i go close to using my 25 minutes limit per card.At the start of the shoot we all have the expectation to do well ,some are elated,some are happy and some are devastated but we turn up next week to start the process again. You give me encouragement. I keep thinking that at some point I will pass the weapon on to someone younger and willing to learn. But, then again, I hate the idea of retiring from anything. You caught the spirit of many of the younger men I trained with. Sometimes elated and sometimes devastated, but always ready to show up again. Me, I've been blessed with a steady temperament, so while I enjoy the sport, I never get fussed.
