Finally got my tax return back and got the wife’s ok to buy my first custom action. After tons of research and combing the hide I’ve theoretically narrowed it down to these based off these factors;
1. Smooth action with a light bolt lift.
2.remington 700 footprint
3. Ability to buy prefit barrels
This will be a competition rifle in one of the 6mm calibers. Not for hunting and not for plinking. I have other factory rifles for those. I’m not super worried about controlled round feeding and I’m kinda partial to bolt lift height but don’t think a 90 degree isn’t something training wouldn’t hold me back from.

my choices are in order
1. Lone peak arms fuzion (I can get one right away, I live in Utah
2. Terminus Zeus
3. Impact 737R
3. Arc nucleus (budget why not option)

any thoughts, opinions and experiences are great appreciated

I have a Nucleus and it's nice but two things bother me about it. The bolt stop/release and firing pin removal/disassembly are a pain in the ass.

Its smooth but a little loose, I was hoping for more of a bank vault.

Looking at a Deadline Ultimatum for my next action.

For me the must haves are prefits and 700 footprint. Don't get hung up on bolt lift. Reliability is way more important.

The other option to add is AW vs AICS only. I personally prefer AW mags for all the obvious reasons like easier loading and shorter length, but some people struggle with the set up and want the easy button. If the concept of adjusting the magazine catch AND feed lips sounds like way too much work stick with AICS.

When deciding on actions the gates look like:
  • AICS only or AW
  • 60 or 90 degree
Once you decide on those two it narrows it down.

Sixty degree and AW- that leaves AI, Curtis/Terminus etc... 3-lug and AW are a great match
Ninety degree you cross the above off and narrow it down based on availability, customer service and other final criteria.

You can't go wrong with any of them... based on your stated criteria I would go lone peak.

Impact gets talked about more, but the fuzion is still the smoothest with the lightest bolt lift.

you have a Nucleus 1.0? the 2.0 version has updated firing pin with easier disassembly.

I would say go with Terminus Zeus I have heard great things about this action. I spoke with the owner Joel Russo the other day and I must say he's very passionate about his product (s) . We will be taking a serious look at what he's putting out for our customers that desire a custom action. We were going to look at Impact a while ago but in our experience their customer service was horrible probably the worst I have come across in years.

Joel was a complete gentleman and has our attention...

Will definitely keep you guys posted...

Mike your reputation is extremely well known so I say this with the utmost respect but you are literally the only person I've heard complain about cs at impact.

One Fuzion was good enough to make me buy a second. If you want the 60* Zeus is a no brainer. Bolt lift isn’t far away from a LP. The roller cocking piece is nice.

He continuously says this every time impact comes up. I have no idea what happened but it hasn’t been any one else’s experience by far. Anytime you need anything Tate has took the time to get it out and shipped it quickly from my experience.

I've owned everything on your list except the Terminus, and Lone Peak would be my choice unless you favor the bolt throw of the Terminus.

I have 2 fuzions and both feed from aw or AICS mags flawlessly. There customer service is great .TS Customs will spin you up a barrel that is a hammer in a timely manner.Nothing against the other choices but after buying my first fuzion I didn’t feel like there was anything I was missing in a push feed action

I have been fortunate or foolish. Had dozens of custom rifles built on over 15 actions.
Two standouts for me are Borden and Lone Peak.
EDIT
Made a list of actions and so far reached over 20 different types.

I have a silly itch for a new build... and am surprised not to see Defiance or Zermatt/Bighorn mentioned...?

I wanted something different than what I see most people talk about here, which is why lone peak and terminus were my top ones and the main ones I’m considering. Does anyone have experience with a Zeus action that can comment on how smooth it is relative to lone peak? Based off the comments it’s hard to not just decide on a lone peak fuzion

It was nice speaking with you the other day Mike, we share the same passion for our products and customer service. Looking forward to doing business together.

Lone Peak, no question since they are local for you. Mike and Brian are great and do alot of shooting themselves. I love my Fuzions.

2nd choice would be impact.. solid guys behind that company as well.

BAT TR is a good option as well if you want to go against the grain a bit.

For two lug push feed, my vote is Lone Peak Fuzion.

For 3 lug, Terminus.

My wild card pick, which has toroidal lugs and is CRF, is the Mausingfield. I'm a big fan of mine, which sits on my comp gun.

One day I’m sure I’ll have both, but I contacted mike and I’ll get the fuzion! Thanks for everyone’s advice and input. I’m sure my need to try everything will lead me back to the terminus down the road
