Triggercam Scope Cam

I may have missed it, but I don’t think Tactacam has any “through the scope” cameras. I have their product from last year, and while it does what they say it does, having a picatinny mounted camera just doesn’t give the same context, or make the same use of the scope’s magnification, as one that looks through the scope.
It is through the scope.

I received mine, but haven’t had time todo anything with it yet. Prompt shipping, and only took about a week to arrive in California. Looks well made, but it’s still sitting on my desk.

Sorry for the lag guys. I've been busy with my own things. I've spoken to Andre at Triggercam and it looks like sales from a US based distributor is just about to happen. They're putting the finishing touches on that now. I didn't see any new questions but if anyone has one, LMK and if I know the answer or can get it I will.

Here's a new bit of video from a friend I loaned my camera to. I call this video "Vegan Hunting".

I just got an email from the guys in SA. Looks like they got the USA site up at https://triggercam.com. I just checked it out, looks like there's a discount going. I was supposed to be going out today to go ELR shooting with a friend and get some truly long range footage but some evil demon has given me the single most painful flu of my life so instead of shooting and making nifty videos, I'll be coughing and hacking.

Discount? Where? :)

Has anyone tried the triggercam through a clip -on like a pvs-30? Curious how well it handles scintillation and bloom.

That was the most disappointing video ever. Was waiting for the head shot

I order a trigger cam and returned it. This is not meant to be a bash, but the reason why was because 2/3 of the view was below the crosshairs. And when I talked with Andre, he said that's how some of them are. If you want one, wait until there is a US distributor because even after I returned it, I had to pay customs on it. This experiment cost me about $80.

I now have a Tactacam FTS, and even with a few teething problems, and larger size, I believe it is a better alternative and I'm going to keep it.

YMMV.

Just noticed, Amazon has them now.... free shipping, free returns. So there ya go.

The only issue I had with the TriggerCam was the App for my iPhone 11 PRO

Originally the app crashed every time I started it on the iPhone. I contacted them and they fixed it.

Once the update came, about a week after my phone call, the camera is working great and the picture from the iPhone is really nice as it's using that device.

Alignment should not be an issue unless the glass inside the unit was out of place, it's pretty fixed. Also, I can almost see certain oculars not aligning perfect, but that would be pretty rare.

The shims are actually pretty sensitive to alignment, you would think you just slip it over and the picture will be clear. That is not the case, you have to align it correctly, use the right shim and then adjust the tension as it matters.

I have the same picture as observed above

Not adjusted or focused, but you can see the view you can get.

Alignmen is much more sensitive than one would think

Are you referring to directly mounting the TriggerCam on the back of a 30 or directly onto a riflescope looking through a 30?

./

Through the scope still. Always hard to get ipotato pics through the scope with an illuminator focused on only part of the fob.

Here a picture through the tactacam scope is NF NX8. I'm sure I can get a better focus.

I was unable to load the video, but here a shot of full zoom. There is some black in the upper left hand corner.

I was looking around my gun area and noticed my old ATN scope, then I saw a whole slew of things like this:
night-vision-on-any-scope.png

(LINKY) abortion of a gizmo and thought, "Hey! Triggercam + ATN."

Behold, compact night vision with video. ATN 6600 + TC. I just pulled the little rubber eye cup thingy off, picked the right sleeve and done. I could have left the rubber eye cup thingy there but I don't see any reason to at the moment.

I know I have another thread started on the Tactacam, but anyone who owns the trigger cam can you confirm the largest eyepiece it will fit is a 45mm?

If so it will not fit any of the newer S&B scopes, correct?

I got my triggercam in the mail a few days ago, I have not recorded anything with it yet but in case anyone was wondering about fitment:

TT525P : Does not fit (TT is listed as 45mm and the TriggerCam lists it as supported for 45mm, was hoping to use it on this scope but oh well I should have asked first about this scope b4 ordering plus the diopter lock ring protrudes out further which also should have been a clue it wasn't going to fit. sadness).

Kahles K1050 (F Class scope, not sure if it shares eyepeice diameter with the PRS Kahles scopes) : Does not fit.

Vortex Viper PST Gen 2 5-25 : Doesn't fit to the stop but is much closer then then two listed above. Might be able to get it to work (Could have sworn I saw a video with someone using the triggercam with a Razor).

S&B PMII 5-25x56 : Fits fine, even with an insert.

Leupold Mark AR 3-18 (Don't judge me) : Obviously tons of room for this one.

Note: It is my understanding that the eyepiece should slide into the closed part of the tube up until the hard stop inside of it, if I am wrong and it only needs to fit the split clamp part let me know.

Anyone marry these to binos or spotters?

I can check my spotting scope when I get home but I think there are cheaper alternatives for spotting scopes, the main problem with most digiscope stuff for riflescopes is how much eye relief they add (as well as being a digital representation of what you see) forcing you to change how you shoot the rifle (free recoil or increasing LOP) whereas look-through alternatives like the triggercam allow you to shoot normally and thus becomes a very good tool for showing something like shooting a PRS match without getting in the way.

I honestly dislike all these "Scopecams" and having tried most of them, not a fan.

On a spotter though, I have found the Phone Skope system for a Go Pro works very good, it's probably the only way I will suffer a through the scope video

the Limitations usually outweigh the benefits

I didn't have great luck with my hero4 and swaro slc 15x56 with the phoneskope adapters. Any tricks?

Is there something specific about the go pro versus other inexpensive smartphones, etc.?

I noticed older Hero 4's are $70 (about the same as an older iPhone 5s if you don't already have either laying around).

The GoPro option sounds like a lightweight and robust solution that slips on the spotters or bino already in my pack. It would definitely be worth consideration.

Does it not work well ?

depending on your settings, the view, you might have to play with the exact placement in the mount, it’s tiny movements
Nailed it, it was in wide mode, set video to 7MP medium, 1080 medium looks much better. Thanks
