Hardly thread worthy as I’m sure this is old news but was in the mood to share:

Discussing with a coworker about area rugs and where to buy. Not for me but that’s beside the point. He mentioned Wayfair and I hadn’t heard of it. Scrolling through Instagram a few minutes ago and see this...

I guess I shouldn’t be all too surprised about it. Even being a millennial it’s mind blowing to me the current status of things. To think, this is all someone not much younger than me knows.

I haven’t but I’m getting the feeling I need to watch that one tonight?

I turned off dictation and siri on my phone and it cut way down on that crap. Now the ads I see just reflect my browsing history. It's not all that hard to fool them either. When my sister had my niece I researched car seats and bought one for my mom. For months both amazon and google thought I was a pregnant woman.

Shhhh!!!
But yeah, fuckers are insidious.
The algorithms will likely only get more intrusive.
But will we stop using these phones?

Good suggestions on turning off Siri and the like. I probably should’ve been smart enough to figure that one out... haha Siri does some scary shit sometimes yet I can yell at her and she won’t hear me.

Phones are too badass now to go backwards.

I don’t activate either Siri or other voice activated apps on my phone. You think it matters but you’re only fooling yourself.

Last week I did a search for razor wire. I need to make life a little more difficult for opportunists.
I’ll be damned if the very first link that popped up to sell me some wasn’t Wayfair! LOL

If you think that’s scary then get ready to flip the fuck out. If the phone is listening do you really think the camera ISN’T watching?

If you haven’t seen it, “The Great Hack” on Netflix demonstrates a lot of how this works and how it was implemented during the last election. I’m no expert, can’t say how true the documentary is, but very interesting none the less.

Haven’t seen that documentary but only snippets about Facebook forcing political bias. I’d buy that for sure. There are seeds everywhere on social media.

It’s really a trip, they take every data point that they can collect from you in order to decide what content to push to your device. Everything that shows up on your phone is strategic... apparently🤔

Yeah, our household is doomed. We have google home, smart TVs, smart phones, kids all have kindles. There’s no secrets here. Good thing we don’t own or talk about guns and stuff like that.

My wife knew I was shopping for another bullet proof vest because her iPad kept having ads for them come up.....

And of course she continually gets ads for Optics. Whoops! My bad!

I need to start searching for midget gay porn and really freak her out! LOL

Well that’s two items on my watch list for sure. Amazon always knows when you’re about to run out of something. Ding ding looking for this?

I just loop a porn in the background, keep them guessing.

Watch "enemy of the state" with Will Smith and Gene Hackman too.

At my house, we decided to test this out. We picked two random things to talk about that neither of us had previously discussed, searched for, needed, etc.: ingrown toenails and graphing calculators. Don't ask how we cam up with those. Sure as shit, the next day an advertisement on Facebook showed up (not sure if it was Amazon, Wafair, or some other seller) for a mechanical ingrown toe nail corrector. (Side note: Google that nasty medieval looking device. I still can't believe it is a thing that exists.). She got an ad for a graphing calculator.

The only adds I get on my facebook feed are for guns and gun stuff. Now, that's irony...

Never use facefuck. Never. Disable it if it's on your phone. Disable Google apps if using Android. Use brave browser on phone, adblock plus on computer browser. Put a small piece of tape over computer/laptop camera. Get a Faraday bag for phone. Keep phone in it unless YOU need to use your phone.

And btw, this is why they don't sell phones with removable batteries anymore. Everything is always on. You just think you turned your phone off.

And to think credit card companies were selling your private information to who ever was willing to pay for it years and years before the internet was even around gathering information on you like where you work how much you make per year , you and your family shopping history , if your are married or not ,your wife's information , kids where they go to school , doctors and dentists how often you visit relatives and there information ss numbers house values car and property vacations if you take them and to where , you name it they knew it and sold it and there still is no regulations on who they can and can't sell your information to..

Removable battery played a big part in me going to back to an oldschool “dumb” phone. It’s the only way to be sure (or as sure as you can be), shame they are switching off the towers it uses in 2022 though.......

Which is bs since we the people don’t get a cut.

I was having dinner with my mother at her house two months ago. While eating dinner we were discussing things in a very non politically correct manor. While we were talking, my phone lights up and Siri says " I'm not comfortable with this conversation" Totally out of the blue!. I have not been able to get it to do it again. WTF?

I’ve had some similar events like that happen. In a quiet voice with the phone in the other room. Yet I can yell, “HEY SIRI!” and it’s deaf all the sudden.

Google has your mark of the beast in your phone.
I'm sure it contains some kind of social score too.
