Berms are 8’-9’ tall. It’s way bigger than the original that I built over 10 years ago. It’s got a 100 and 200 yard target area for load development too. The hole in the long berm is a pass through for the 1000 yard range that will go through. 900 and 1000 yard shots will be through there. The long berm also doubles as the 800 yard berm.

I'm fortunate that our ranch lays out perfectly for me to go to 500 in one direction, and then 900 in another *without* putting neighbors in jeopardy.

Nice work man...Hopefully it didn't cost you too much pasture!

That's awesome!

Showed my wife....and of course her smart ass remark was something about the neighbors getting pissed if I knocked down their houses for a personal range.

Hopefully someday

That's a bunch of pushing. Looks good. You're in Oklahoma too huhhhhhh! Lol. I'm fortunate enough to live and work on a 10k acre ranch with several hills and valleys but I sure wouldn't mind jumping on our dozer and pushing out something like you have if the owner would allow it. Thanks for the aerial photos!

That looks good bud. Where is it? I need to test it out.
I got extremely lucky when XTO came thru with a big pipe line and made me a 1,200 yard range here at the house. Before then, I was limited to around 725yds down a power line ROW.

How many gallons of diesel.... were used in this little project?

Very nice!

Nice set up....one realization I had while setting up my range is nobody EVER said I wish I had a smaller dozer....I had a couple of jd 450's, and kept wishing I had a d8....takes awhile to move that much dirt!

The pond was built for the initial 1/2 acre U shaped berm. Now it’s around 3.5-4 acres. Only burned about 160 gallons of fuel. Dozer is a 2018 Komatsu D65EX so it does well on fuel. Got a buddy that works at a ford dealership. He’s supposed to be saving the old tires to build walls for a shoot house.

Nice. You can do a lot in that layout with a bit of imagination. Good job leaving trees to work into different scenarios. Any chance the Dept. of Agriculture has a grant program for increasing the capacity of a stock watering feature? :)

I do remember shooting a .22 at an old scraper tire many decades ago. I also remember the sound of the bullet whizzing past my ear when it bounced off. Careful with the tires.

Thank you,

So much envy from CA. I have to drive about four and a half hours to a friend's private ranch to shoot out to 1400 yards. There is a ranch about an hour from my house, but they charge $250 a day to shoot to a mile at the moment. My wife and I have been discussing moving out of CA to a place more suitable for our kids to grow up (not in toxic CA), which indirectly means I could finally get my own place like this to shoot.

Congrats on a great looking range sir!

Well it’s been and always will be a work in progress but I got more steel hung up yesterday. Video is through a 20x spotter. There is a 1 minute, 2 minute , and a bigger “fun” target at every 100 yards out to 1000 . Still gotta get more fire hose and swap out some nylon webbing that I used that’s not gonna work out (the ones blowing crazy in the wind, wind is about 25-30 right here). I’ve got over 50 pieces of steel still left to go inside the “playground”.
