Anybody ever use that new Midas Tac the 5 x25 ? I'm taking a look at it got a ton of internal adjustment. I'm not too sure how the glass is or have a scope is in general. Anybody have any thoughts on this thing?. I believe this is a different animal than the last Midas Tac which was 6 x24
Also is anybody ever dealt with Athlon warranty or service department? I know it's not Vortex but how does it rate?
Putting it on one of my 22 ELR Riggs
Now I'm going to be disappointed if I don't have a lot of jackalopes out they're making comments about it even though they've never even looked at. But then again this is Snipershide and I know I won't be let down, the jackalope ratio is fairly high on this site.

Okay I don't usually reply to myself but being the dumbass I am, before I wrote the question in my post I could have have just looked down the list of threads and about five down is a thread about Athlon customer service.

I'm looking at this scope too as a mid-level but quality option.

Not sure if you've seen this, but Cyclops Joe sure seems to like it: . It's also on his list of top 10 scope buys.

That said, first hand experience from the folks here is worth quite a bit...

I can't tell you 'ya or na' on the midas, though I like the scope on paper. However, to throw another wrench in the mix would be an Arken sh4 6-24 (which I have on order) or the meopta optika 6 5-30 (currently use the optika6 3-18x56 on my nrl22 gun)

I've never heard of those those guys before. How is there warranty it seems Athlon could be very comfortable to vortex. Kind of a no questions asked type thing just give it to us and we'll fix it

Also if you guys aren't aware this Athlon has an amazing military/LOE program. Guys I mean truly amazing program

I looked seriously into this scope and ended up getting a pst gen 2 instead. I had a Midas btr 6-24 and it had a really sensitive eye box at higher power. Not sure if the new 5-25’s are similar or not, but they have good glass.

I have the Athlon 5-25 on my 22 and I love it. Great glass, good tree reticle, mechanical zero stop that won’t slip. I like the floating dot and tree reticle, tactile clicks which feel very metal and not mushy. I had a 5-25 PST Gen 2 and I like this scope way more in every way. More adjustment, better reticle with .2 hash, better zero stop, 34mm tube, etc.

The thing that keeps drawing me back to this scope is the amount of internal adjustment. It has 110 Moa / 32 mils adjustment I need a lot for long-range 22 I just sold my Viper PST because it didn't have much adjustment and I ran out of scope at about 300 yards. It worked fine for standard Centerfire just not too good for 22 long range

How do you like that 3-18? I'm looking at one for a build hunting I've got going now. Kinda heavy, but I like the feature set.

I also looked at the midas tac, and will probably order one to upgrade an older scope ive got. I think bigjimfish? has a review of them on the main page. I'm very happy with my 2 other athlons, the midas is middle of the road between the two Ares I have.

I think we have to take the scope with a grain of salt . It's never going to be a Schmidt and Bender but at it's price range I think it's a little bit on the hard to beat side . I've never shot with a Athlon but I have look through them at my local gun store and they are pretty nice.

I had been thinking of getting the Midas Tac
    I have the Cronus BTR
But the Midas is made in china so I have to cross it off the list
Well I'm trying to think what's the difference between the Philippines for vortex and China for everything else in that price range

I really like this guy I've watched a bunch of his reviews. But there's a difference between like and Trust. I know I'm the last guy that should be saying this but I wish he would take a little bit more of a serious approach when it comes to these reviews.

I'm setting up my dealer network with athlon now, and placing an order by early next month. The midas tac 5-25 is best for the money not worth going to an ares, cronus is the flagship but about double the price

I have a pair of the 6-24 models and love them. I love the very positive clicky turrets and the stupid simple zero stop setup...unlike my PST 2s. And the windage turret is covered with a cap, which I like. Had to use Athlon's CS for a different scope and they were outstanding. They are a lot of scope for the money and I would not hesitate to try the 5-25...

Has he ever given anything a bad review?

Do a site search, when they first came out a bunch of guys on here bought them, just about all of them said it was a great scope in that price point. There's a few threads about them.

The 3-18 has some great features, much like the midas. The zero stop is good, I like the fact I have to pull up to unlock the elevation turret and press to lock, capped windage is a must for me. The reticle has a great sized center aiming dot, though I don't love the stadia from dead center out to the 1mil mark, I personally feel it's lacking a little. Glass wise, it's very good, not as good as the high end bushnell xrs/dmr/lrhs, but still very good. If it is a hunting only gun, the center dot and the tree dots may be slightly too small for good aiming points against darker objects, but the illumination works just fine, so that could help.

I honestly do not know about the warranty process for meopta or the arken. I haven't received the arken yet to give it a looksee, but I'm pretty excited about it, especially for $400.
I'm not overly worried about meopta's process as any time I've had any issue from any brand carried by CameraLandNY.com, @gr8fuldoug has always been helpful, even if it didn't come from his shelf.

I get your point but that nipple twister test he does... man, seems like it'd be hard to fake the results. That along with the box tests, etc. he does seem legit so really it's not just his thoughts or opinion and not influenced by the comedy stuff.

I picked up a TAC 5-25x56 APRS3 last week to use on my CZ457 NRL22 build. So far it feels like a solid piece. The turrets are nice, the glass is great for the money, and it tracks 100%. The zero stop is easy to do and locks tight. The 25yd Parallax 32 mil's of elevation are a HUGE bonus on a .22LR

While it is not as good as my Schmidt's, Kahles, or other top tier glass... so far it is much better than I expected.

I will look at the targets at 500 to 1250 with it this weekend and report back. I've only had it on the .22 range for setup and zero.

If you are worried about internal adjustment, you might consider a SWFA fixed power. Mediocre glass, but rugged, affordable and great tracking. My SWFA 12x has 43.5 mils of internal adjustment (plus 10 mils in the reticle)!

The Athlon scopes are starting to make a mark on the scene over here. (Australia)
Heard pretty good comments from the guys that are using them.
On paper/website they look like the duck's nuts.

Well fellas I took the leap picked up one of these Scopes directly from Athlon they have a terrific military program. Will tell you how it is when I actually test it out thanks for all the great advice.

I really don't know what expert voice is. But I called over there and ask him and get my proof of my active duty and they bent over backwards to help me like I said I ordered directly from them. I really don't want to talk about what kind of discount I got. But it makes these Scopes extremely attractive

I’m cheap and ordered a new Midas BTR 4.5-27 today. I’ll let you know what I think. I am just a hobby shooter. Never get enough range time. It will go on my Rem LTR 308.

Have two MidasTac 6-24x50's for NRL, one mounted on a T1x and other mounted on a VQ custom 10/22. No problems with them nor do I expect to have any being that they are on .22's. Picked up a MidasTac 5-25x56 FFP for a .223 T3x Varmint since I wanted FFP, it replaced a 8-32x56 Sightron S3 which was outstanding except for being SFP.

I received my Midas Tac 5 x 25 yesterday seems like a pretty nice rig. Kind of surprised there were no lens caps included. What about that box that it came. I've never felt a box that heavy before what do you think a pound-and-a-half for the Box alone

I have 2 Midas BTR 4.5-27's. This gen Midas had the same glass as the Ares, just in SFP. Unsure about the newer Midas Tac. Mine are almost as good as Japanese glass. Great values.

450 and I can send you a riton mod 7 5-25x56, only downside is it's a mildot reticle, but lifetime warranty and would get replaced with the newer model with different reticle
