Plot to Overthrow Michigan Thwarted

(DETROIT) The FBI said Thursday in an affidavit that it stopped a plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and overthrow the state government, according to The Detroit News.

The plot reportedly involved a conspiracy among multiple people to kidnap the governor, attack law enforcement and overthrow governments they saw as violating the U.S. Constitution.

An FBI agent wrote in the affidavit, "Several members talked about murdering 'tyrants' or 'taking' a sitting governor. The group decided they needed to increase their numbers and encouraged each other to talk to their neighbors and spread their message."

The affidavit was filed one day after the FBI raided a home in Hartland Township, Mich., and it detailed a kidnapping plot involving six men.

The FBI learned of the alleged plans through a source who attended meetings with the group.

The FBI agent wrote, "The group talked about creating a society that followed the U.S. Bill of Rights and where they could be self-sufficient. They discussed different ways of achieving this goal from peaceful endeavors to violent actions. At one point, several members talked about state governments they believed were violating the U.S. Constitution, including the government of Michigan and Governor Gretchen Whitmer."

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and authorities plan to discuss "details of a major operation" at a news conference at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Let me guess...The fbi found a few dense folks that were legitimately pissed off about what their State gov was doing and ratcheted up the hate so they could charge them for conspiracy. My guess, there was no plot or problem until the feds created it.

Most likely the FBI "source" was actually the ring leader and was the one egging them all on and cajoling them into saying things...

Much like certain "trolls" that pop up here and try the same thing before being shut down.

Just about everyone on this forum could be seen as doing the same. I surely hope they have some harder evidence than what is posted above. Like an actual plan, not just some numb nuts getting drunk and sharing pipe dreams.

Replace "FBI" with "The King's Men" and "Governor Gretchen Whitmer" with "some Loyalist Governor" and you have the American Revolution. Which is kinda ironic dontcha think?

The plotters, according to an FBI affidavit, seemed to be motivated by their belief that state governments, including Michigan’s, were violating the Constitution. One of those involved complained in June that Whitmer (D) was controlling the opening of gyms — an apparent reference to coronavirus shut down restrictions.

Imagine plotting to kidnap a fucking governor because you can’t go to the gym?

Maybe the fbi should hire hollywood writers to come up with better fake terrorists.

Imagine plotting to take on the World's greatest military power just because you thought their overreach and taxes didn't properly represent your desires as free men.

Imagine having enough courage to actually do something about it.

FWIW - maybe, just maybe the FBI did their job.

The linked articles discusses a potential precipitating event that left one felon (who had a loose connection to Ruby Ridge, a history that included shooting at LE for some dumb reasons, and did 11 yrs in the clink - who was being rolled up in a parking lot on weapons violations w/ an agent wounded in the process).

What are the odds that guy is doomed to attract a certain interest level from those that might what to hold court for the Gov? I'd take that bet, all day.

Perspective - what happened to the 50 days of Rage / Siege on the WH - how's that coming along? Fed's are rolling up bad actors on both extremes.

Correct me if I'm wrong but did anyone get acquitted at Ruby Ridge ? Did Mr Weaver wind up with a several million dollar settlement because his unarmed wife was purposely targeted ?
Did it not come out that the authorities pressured him to commit a crime that he was aquittex of and then extorted him to dime someone out . Which he did not do because he is not a criminal . So if the residents at Ruby Ridge were unjustly attacked how do the Feds have a guy connected to it ? Would that statement in and of itself not be false . It was only Weaver a male friend , weaver's son wife and baby . Oh and Weaver . So who is this other fellow ?
Bueller , Bueller , Bueller ?

Who knows what is true anymore?

I do know that if you turn up the heat on a pot of water, sooner or later it will boil. The heat is on and little bubbles are forming on the bottom of the pot. One just popped to the surface.

The Dems need to turn down the heat. But they won’t, they are hoping for the boil. JMHO

(very familiar with the RR story) Not sure what you're asking, but from the linked article it said this guy (as a kid) lived close by and his parents may have delivered some groceries to the Weavers once or a few times. The article suggests the event may have had an impact on him (I am sure it did). Later he went on to commit crimes. Myself, I can see where growing up where he did, experiencing that, and then spending 11 yrs inside for (in part) shooting at LE - the odds are that is going to attract a certain element to him, forever (if he talks about it).

As for the rest of it, sounds like an on-going matter (which legitimately means limited info). That said - did he have a gun on him at the time of the shootout? No gun, may change some things.

By the same token - the fellas back at the clubhouse? If they knew that about this guy (on parole and his background) and they wanted to do dirt, how would they not treat this guy as a blue magnet? Of course he was an odds on favorite to surveil and see what he is up to - doesn't any decent PO do that as a matter of routine?

I tend to think the FBI are snatching up extremists on both sides.

Yeah I agree that would be good procedure to follow the low hanging fruit . I get pissed and I over reacted due to the seeming weaponizing of the letter agencies against America . The Ru y Ridge fiasco , Russia collusion bullshit and the lack of prosecution against the ruling class .
It is not a good thing when one has to reason out wether the story is legit or another
Dem mental episode .

Before you guys write this off as propaganda, I think you need to have a better understanding of the local dynamic. This whole mess is 100% plausible. Now, were these guys actually dangerous? Yes, but probably not in the way they intended. More of the "negligent discharge at a local gun show" threat level.

Well, they think they want it, at least. I’m pretty damn sure it won’t turn out how they intend tho..

Agree, will wait for evidence etc.
