Rifle Scopes Why so many razors for sale?

Ok does anyone have any insider knowledge if/when Vortex is going to come out with any new reticles for the razor? I have the 1-6 with the jm1 reticle for 3 gun and love the simplicity of it. I also have the EBR-7C in my noob/starter scope for this kind of shooting and hate the complexity of it. I really just don't like the numbers being off to the side. I really like the older ebr-2c and the 1c but don't really want to buy anything used especially if it can't be replaced.

The same guys that complained about how heavy it is are the ones adding weight kits to their 6mm rifles now🤦‍♂️
SO DAMN TRUE!!!!!!
i wish i could give this 1000 likes... its the truest thing ive seen on the interwebs in 10yrs. lol!!!

Same shit for 3 gun, they spend all this money to make the rifle as light as possible and then complain they can't make follow up shots and that the gun kicks to much.

Whiners. I prefer light as possible. I can get the job done. I am not a competition shooter. I just have guns for punching paper fun and defense. Minute of man at 100 meters is about all that matters.

The EBR 7C is why everyone is selling them. Too complex and distracting. They should’ve added .2 holds to the 1c and called it a day. Great scope, terrible reticle.

Hardly! The 7C is an excellent reticle and very usable. Some might not like it but doesn't make it complex or distracting. It's very easy to use for holds.

Use it more. You will learn why everything is where it is. You want precision in this type of rifle. Not a general hold like a JM-1 used for 3 gun.

No idea. I use a Nikon FX1000 and hit the same targets.

I would love to resell that for exactly what I paid after beating it up like everyone else does...

Perception is reality, and it’s very subjective. For me it’s overly complex and distracting. I’ve spoken to many others that agreed and have gone back to the 2c or even 1c, or just changed scopes completely. But hey, if it’s your cup of tea 👍

Yup it is. The only real difference between it and the 2C and 7C is the .2 mil marks and the dot. The number placement on the tree is different but they got so many complaints on it being near the main line they moved it and now people complain. LOL As you can see you can't make everyone happy.

Reticles are pure personal preference. I had moved away from Vortex because I liked the .2 lines offered in several other manufactures scopes. When the 7c was introduced I jumped back in. I could take or leave the "tree" but it has never hindered me. I dial elevation and hold wind. Great reticle for me.

When I have more funds available I hope to see some Razor 1-6 for sale here when everyone starts upgrading to the 1-10. I'll even look at the PST 1-6.

You got me there, I know I need to practice a ton more. I have big plans for this winter to get everything dialed in and practice drills/positions. Like everyone, time is my biggest challenge.

My opinion on the 1-10 is its kinda useless. It would be cool for a pig gun or something but for 3 gun Vortex doesn't make anything better than the 1-6. FFP does not work as fast for 3 gun shooting as 2nd. The thickness of the lines in the reticle on the 1-6 is perfect, the red dot only is perfect, the brightness of the dot is perfect the clarity of the glass is perfect and the eye box/relief is unbeatable. We hardly ever shoot past 500 yards and if we do 600 isn't really a problem either. Most people can make a shot with it on 4 power out to 500.

Shhh!!! Don't let everyone know that. Your ruining my evil plan!

The warranty is forever so it can be replaced. I have bought new and used ..... reticle is personal preference. Buy used and just wait for a good one... hell I think I have 2 of the gen 1 that got mounted but hardly shot sitting somewhere

A little off subject but has there been any mention of a gen 3 equivalent to the gen 2 4.5-27? Was about to buy 2 of the gen 2’s but if a gen 3 is near I’ll hold off.

I've been putting my new Vortex Razor 2 through it's paces.
Very happy with it.
Turrets are positive and am enjoying the lit reticle for nights.
Pretty much everything I need.
If it could make coffee, would be nigh on perfect.

Yeah, I ment that if I find a 1c or 2 c they will replace it with a 7c anyway.
Im going to end up getting the 7 in the next couple of weeks. Just need the time to go pick it up, I'm working an outage right now so no time for anything

At the risk of stating the obvious, if the market for used Vortex Razor Gen II scopes is glutted, and you sell, you may be set up to buy high, sell low.

I have 2 Gen II Vortex Razor 4-27x59s and a Vortex Razor Gen I 5-20x50...they have performed flawlessly and have great glass. As a young guy I learned many years ago is that there is not always a bigger and better deal...particularly if you get to drop a grand on the better thing. YMMV, but I doubt it.

I sold my Razor Gen II 4.5-27x to buy the same exact scope in MILs. For PRS, it's been great shooting to 1,000 yards. Definitely want to add a higher end scope (ZCO, ATACR, Kahles) to my collection some time soon, but for now the RG2 works just fine. I certainly don't miss due to optics

I can answer as someone who sold a Razor Gen 2 recently.

It was mainly to step up to another optic. The RG2HDs are fantastic scopes and I would recommend them to anyone, especially for the price.

I even thought about keeping it to put on a rimfire rifle because how much I like it.

I do prefer the optic I have now however. It feels like my bolt gun has lost an entire pound of weight.

It seems like the number one selling used scope on here is the Vortex razor HD gen 2 4.5-27?

Why is everyone selling them? What's everyone going to? Is it just a starter scope? Is there something better in a similar price range?
I bought my razor for getting into bench rest shooting. I had several others leupold vx3, Bushnell 4200, Vortex mid level model. I recently bought a leupold 5HD 7-35 x56. Difference? To me not much. Other than the Razor is not what I would want to haul around on a hunting rifle.

I went from Leupold to Premier to USO to S&B PMII to Gen II Razors now my AMG will be here Friday. It’s optics OCD. An expensive malady with no cure!!

I don’t see any for sale???

No argument that weight is an issue for some folks. That seems to be where Leupold reigns.

I just sold mine. Weight was welcomed for my purpose. I just didn’t love the ebr7c. Open area and dot in the middle was too small for me. Felt like I needed to have illumination on. Took using it for a bit to realize I just prefer a crosshair type in the center. And the fact they are still popular and in demand I could move it for exactly what I paid for it. Now I can get something like a bushnell DMR pro or xrs2 with the LE discount and put a good chunk of change back in my pocket. Win win for me.

I went back and forth between the vx5-had and gen 2 razor, ended up with the razor. While my hunting blind is only a 300 yard Walk, I can deal with the weight of the razor. Any further and it would have been a Leupold.

Let assume you putting the Razor HD LHT 3-15x50 up against the VX-5HD 3-15x56mm. I don't think it's really a head up test as the VX is sold as a lightweight compact scope and the razor is not. Keep in mind the Razor is 6x with 34mm tube and VX-5 is a 5x with a 30mm tube.

Razor 3-18 weighs 46.5oz
Razor LHT weight 20.5oz
VX-5 weighs 21.9oz

Even if you did the "typical" Razor HD 3-18 there is a difference of 24.6oz or about 1.5 pounds. While that not an insignificant amount most people are doing Mammoth Sniper challenge either. I can see shaving some ounces in a long hunt or snipers challenge but for 90% of the population, 1.5 pounds is not going to matter.

Yup the Razor LHT weighs 20.5 ounces. If you wanted less weight and Razor II features the 28.8 ounce AMG does it.

I like my bushnell tac elite 1-6.5 pro. Seems like it’s pretty comparable to the razor, but I feel the need to bump up too. Or maybe it’s just all the euro optic sale emails I get....

I agree. I don’t like it at all. It’s not that there are too many marks, it’s just that the dashes are so tall! Everyone dials the elevation so we know that’s spot on... which leaves the wind and spotting where you’re off to the left and right of target is like looking through a picket fence.

I don't always dial, in a lot of case I am holding for stages with multiple distances and tight times... or when the MD decides to make a don't touch your caps stage.
