Vudoo V-22S Single Shot BR/F-Class Action

Landy, help me understand the relevance of your recent post.

What has this target analysis have to do with a Vudoo V22S?

I think, roughly translated it means, it’s off to a good start, based on limited data.

After seeing the above picture, I emailed to check on my order and was told, "Actually, that customer was an “action only”, he supplied the barrel and the trigger and the stock….You are in our “first batch” of full builds, which are taking a little longer. I’m thinking you should be hearing from us in the next couple of weeks!"

Not long now. Jill called yesterday, it will be here 10/21. It has been a long wait since Greg and I talked late Sept. 2019 and
started the waiting list.
Mine is RB/LP, Shilen, Kestros, AND SANTA COMES NEXT WEEK!!
I hope it's everything we all hope it will be...!

Another shout-out to VGW. This is for custom service. Since I will shoot my V22S standing offhand, I was uncomfortable with a Bixn'Andy 2-stage BR trigger without a safety. Could I substitute a Bix'nAndy 2-stage BR trigger with top right safety? No problemo for VGW. A bit of custom work on the receiver for a very small cost.

Great customer custom service or is it great custom customer service?

On a Single shot isn’t when the bolt moves forward into the fire position the safety , but I can also see shooting offhand wanting that extra safety .Shoutout to The team VGW for making you request come true not a lot shops would do that .

You bet we're out there ... sitting on the edge of our ROC-N-SOC thrones, our best ammo in hand, glass ready to mount and targets pinned. Only thing missing is the V-22S rifle that we've been waiting on with "baited breath".

Soon, and then the flood gate of posts on this thread will begin. Photos, targets, scores - all the things that the guys and gals at Vudoo Gun Works have worked so tirelessly to create.

I got a call from VGW yesterday to confirm the details of my V-22S order (action only, not a complete build). I didn't ask if there was a definite ship date, but they told me it wouldn't be too long before they'd be calling to confirm it's ready to ship, and would be asking for the balance of payment due. This would be near perfect timing for me....if my corn & milo had been drying down as usual, and I'd be well over half done with fall harvest. But, for whatever combination of reasons, the corn hasn't been drying down as quickly as this hybrid usually does, and I haven't been able to even start with harvest yet. However, we just had our first hard freeze last night (it's still only 21*F as I type this at 8:36am local), so with a killing freeze, the milo will be drying down fairly quickly now. Still wondering what's going on with the corn though...and looking forward very much to receiving the V-22S action.

I'm new to this forum but not to BR. I put my 40X up for sale, had cataract surgery 2 weeks ago and having my other eye done this Thursday. I've ordered my V-22S about a month ago looking forward to January when they tell me it will be finished. My eyes should be good to go by then. I already notice things looking a lot brighter with just the one eye done! It got to be so I couldn't make it through the 25 targets due to blurriness and profuse eye watering. I was even thinking about taking a train trip out to Utah to visit VGW. Needles to say I'M EXCITED!

We are here but like many (me included) we are waiting for delivery. I have 2-3 months. I am anxious to start seeing some posts from folks who were smart and ordered early.

My V22S will be delivered to the 'smith today for bedding.

Can’t waiting to get into the mdt chassis

Thank to everyone that answered back. I was thinking I was the only one that was left. Does anyone know how Otis did ?

Where are all the pictures of these new V22S rifles?
I will make sure I post when I get it all together and on the bench. May even take a covid day or two off from work the get some rounds down range. What is everyone going to test for ammo

We need to keep posting.. let’s see if we can get MB away from his “C and C “ video machine to talk with us.
I would like to know about the changes he made to the fire control group.

Why didn’t you go with the Vr if I can ask. I almost put in a order about this time last year for the Vr and run the single shot adapter. But then they told me the Vs was in the works so I put my name down and here I am just about a year later. Both are great options just curious.

Fun time at the range this afternoon, figured out I need to add 2 or so pounds of weight to the rear of the MPA..I shot 2 ARA cards and both were 1950's. No tuner and No wind flags. I was playing around with ammo. I did find the rifle shot a little better with eley match than Midas. Both cards were shot with eley. I have not got to the ammo testing yet, I was just having fun finally shooting the v22s... I was just called by gunsmith and said the tuners are bored and I can pick them up in the morning...

Thanks for sharing the First outing.
Any pics of the cards , what are your plans for barrel break in. How are setting up the second rifle.
Which tuner are you going to use.

Biggest question and maybe it’s to early to tell.
Was it worth the wait as you see it and have had a chance to see what team at put together.
Oh my I sound little kid one question after another.
Ok I’m going to shut up for now..

Hi Mark,

Very astute of you to think some weight is needed to move the Cg rearward. When I think the Cg may be too far forward, I'll test by using wrist or ankle weights on the butt that can be found in most exercise sections in many stores to modify it. If the data suggests there's an improvement, I'll then consider if I want to use a more permanent solution or simply shoot it that way.

I'm sending you an email shortly,
Landy

@T_Hammer:

I do not know what you mean by the Vr. Is it the V22 with a normal twist barrel?

The 'resters and other supported shooters are always looking for mechanical, and perhaps optical, upgrades. I am looking for ergonomic upgrades since I shoot standing offhand. I have a V22 that I shoot as a repeater and single shot. The V22 has a 20" barrel with a Kukri contour. The V22S has a 20" barrel with a Vudoo BR contour. So presumably the same ballance but a heavier weight for the V22S. Bolt rotation of 60 deg for V22S versus 90 deg for V22. Don't expect that will make much of a difference but who knows until you shoot. I expect the RBLP for the V22S versus RBRP for the V22 will make loading while standing more efficient. We will see. Perhaps the bolt will be smoother on the V22S but I doubt it since the bolt is "smoother than butter" on the V22.

Do I think shooting the V22S will make a quantum improvement in my marksmanship? I might wish but realistically no since I am going from one very accurate rifle to another very accurate, perhaps even more accurate, rifle in a setting where my marksmanship is the dominant factor. However, it will be fun to shoot the V22 against the V22S hoping the self-competition will be a spur.

Messing with some ammo!!

Thank you AUMan for posting pics and especially groups. I can live vicariously through your adventures until my build arrives.

Your rifle certainly looks impressive ... love the Lexus gray paint and the Sightron scope. Definitely a first class build.

Of the ammo/groups you posted I like the looks of the Midas + "soft" groups. I'm looking forward to how they measure but just "eyeballing" them it looks like at least four of five of those groups are below 0.20" CTC. I'll be willing to bet that addition of a tuner and optimizing the set-up will make your groups even tighter.

All in all, an excellent "first date" for you and your V-22S. I do appreciate you sharing and hope your efforts will be an inspiration to other new owners as they begin shooting their V-22S.

One of the hallmarks of how Vudoo Gun Works builds rifles is an incredible amount of consistency.

Pat, that's great shooting! I know you're happy with your preliminary testing. I'm really looking forward to a fun and competitive SB F-class season in 2021.

Here's a few pictures of mine. Vudoo V-22s in a Kestros stock, Muller 8 groove barrel 25 1/4". So far its showing promise.

I would like to know about the changes he made to the fire control group.

Sorry Dude, been quite busy with a few refinements that required lots of time with my head in the CNC Mill. As I believe most are aware, the V-22S ships with a kit consisting of springs rated from 13 to 18 pound force. We noticed in testing that a few very small revisions made a huge difference in ignition, so we couldn't bring ourselves to be satisfied with shipping and not having the revisions be present.

For ignition tuning, I do not condone snipping springs, as it creates other issues, so I'd never recommend such a practice. Instead, knowing what you're working with and relating results to good data allows one to create consistency in an informed approach. What we noticed with the lesser rate springs in our kit created an opportunity to take things a step further, so, I revised models and created programming and the result is a set of revisions that require 13 seconds of machine time. The investment of time and energy are well worth it and it shows in the targets above. For the sake of our advancements, I will not openly share what we've done, so I trust you'll enjoy what you see when you shoot your V-22S.

The flood gates are now open....

Mike,
With many of us eagerly anticipating shipment of our rifles please give us some guidance regarding initial firing pin spring set up.

I'd assume that the spring set up from VGW is what you feel is optimum ... but optimum for what? Ammo Brands or other parameters. I didn't see anything in AUMan's post about altering the firing pin spring configuration.

Please ... get us started and we'll take responsibility for fine tuning.

Norm,
I won't speak to what is "optimum," as the variables are ridiculous. Trigger, ammo, type of rest, stock, etc., will all contribute to the amount of energy, so the final configuration will obviously have to be up to the shooter. The 16 lbf spring is installed when the V-22S ships, which allows everyone a place to start. Pin protrusion and headspace are set at a constant, so you're looking at the depth of the indent and it has to be incredibly consistent. Too much and you're likely creating excess vibration, too little and you'll have other issues. Generally, and this isn't a hard-fast rule, I like to see indent depths around .016 to .018, but this will be dependent on ammo. The target will always give the final nod....

Ozark Shooter, I did get the extra springs. I shot it the way it came, have not played with the springs. I 've had ONE light strike on ELEY.
I MAY do some testing of Eley, but believe the Midas + is my ammo.
Observations: The trigger will take some getting use to. Mine breaks at .6 oz. Not a glass rod, but good. Gotta give it some time, for us
to get along. The Bolt likes to be handled softly to moderately. Love the Kestros and Shilen! The new scope is still on trial too. All in all,
IT IS A VUDOO AND DESERVES THE BRAND! If you have any other questions, I will try to answer, and if I can't Shane most likely can.
His Green Kestros, Muller, Nightforce can out shoot mine! I know it is the gun!! LOL. ( For those that don't know, he just won the Blackhawk
and Georgia State, setting a record by 20 points! Using his Vudoo Repeater. The V22S did not get here in time.)
Good Shooting, Pat

Is there a video showing how to change the springs?
