Precision Rifles.....show em!!

I just put my Vudoo into a new chassis. I'm not sure about the bipod mount location.

Thanks. Both monitors are running Arch Linux using i3wm. The left one is blank, because I had a Chrome window open to watch Archer, but closed it.

Thank you. I have a bore snake and I will run it through tonight. I’m going Sunday to see how it does. I don’t have match ammo but I used to make my own loads when I had my .223 so I’m sure I will eventually want to do it for this rifle to see it’s full potential. I love this site already. Again thank you for your replies

That’s funny you said that about the weight because my new one weighs about 16lbs and I could not imagine carrying it any further than from the car to the benchrest

Yes it was definitely not much fun. I am currently looking at the Alamo Altitude rifle in 6.5 PRC for my lightweight rifle.

Must have never been in the military. Try lugging around an M60 (yes I'm that old), M249, or M240B. They are all rather weighty but a good padded sling makes them bearable.
Believe me if I had to carry it I could, but luckily I have a choice haha. Thank you for your service!

Hey guys. I posted an intro, but thought I'd post my rifle in here.

Remington 700
.338 Lapua
XLR Chassis
Timney Calvin Elite Trigger
Atlas Bipod
Kreiger 26" fluted match barrel 1-10 twist
Precision Armament M11 Muzzle brake
Nightforce NXS 5.5 - 22 x 50 w/ Nightforce rings

Other work done: Oversided recoil lug, oversized bolt knob and cerakote barrel and action.

Went out to try and test out this Rex Silentium MG7 on my 6 5 Creedmoor today... well and the weather changed and it started blowing and snowing... before we got very far. It sounds good and is really lite, just haven't got to shoot any groups with it, only been able to plink.

A new addition to the heard. Deep South Tactical 6mm Creedmoor, Impact 737R, Manners Mini Chassis.

Took the scope off the AX50 and installed it on here. It's way too high in the mount but, with the adjustable cheek piece it's manageable.

Bore sighted, 2 shots and on paper. Here's my first 5 shots @ 200 yards. It was VERY windy. Using factory Hornady 108 ELD M

Dude, we all want to know. What do you do for a living? And are you adopting?

I don't know, man. It seems like there is just too much black on that rifle. It sticks out like a sore di-uh thumb on that vehicle. Maybe add some black to the vehicle?

I'm semi retired. :)

And as mentioned in the AI thread, I'm willing to adopt if your fairly near by with some land to stretch out the heard on. :)

Yes I’ve gone a little overboard with custom precision rifles and cans. My first full custom rifle was a GA Precision Rock 300WSM that’s stupid accurate and I haven’t even completed the break in process for the barrel. From there it’s 280 AI , 6.5x280AI, 6.5 CM and 6 CM. Currently having a 6.5PRC built. So you could say I like 6.5mm calibers.

You have some kickass setups. Do you feel that S&B ultra bright scope is a lot brighter in lower light conditions than the rest?

Finally up and running, just in time for opening day of rifle season for white tail deer in WV. Has an ADL box mag made to be Kypherpass functional in a BDL. Getting the floorplate cerakoted OD after the season is over. Same 700p action, HS precision sa m24 stock, RHR machined floorplate. Pulled it out of a chassis. Much more comfortable to shoot. Very very light skim bed.

Still have my buck stamp. Meat is better than no meat.

And finally done. Tossed the ADL box and replaced witha good bdl box provided by @rlr. I really appreciate it.

Budget build that started as a Brownells' sale Howa barreled action in 6mm Creedmoor. I was pretty sure this was just going to be the appetizer before I put together a "real" rifle, but now I think it might just be a matter of rebarreling it (900 rounds on it) and just shooting it for a while. I can upgrade as I go if/when I want to.
It wasn't too long ago when a guy couldn't get a good mid-priced scope for what this thing cost to put together...

Hey Willie how long a barrel do you have on that WSM 300 and what kind of velocities are you getting
Sorry i’m replying back so late but just saw this so i’ll take a stab at your question. First, i haven’t even completed the break in process that GA Precision recommended. It’s a Rock full custom with upgraded components, the barrel is a Bartlein deep fluted and 25”. Hornady PH 200gr eldx with can almost 2875 and Copper Creek 185 Berger around 2950. Everything i put through groups tight. But i’ve gotten where i prefer shooting my 6.5CM, especially deer hunting. The short Carbon barrel makes it easier to move around with a can on the end.

sorry for the late reply, i can honestly say that i can’t see the huge difference between any of these optics as far as low light transmission. I do a lot of hunting and deer management on my farm, just this weekend i put those scopes to that test. Hunting over a 55 acre bean field let enough natural light come in to the scopes. Using a NX8 2.5-20 i would cut the magnification down to 15-18 and to get the performance from the PMII Ultra Bright i would have to drop from 16 to 14x to get equal or maybe a little more light. But the big price difference isn’t worth it to me. I also learned a valuable lesson, always set your zero stop! Missed a couple doe at 450 and 500 because i had dialed for a 700 yard shot yesterday morning and forgot to turn back! So when i added another 40 clicks i was up 130 for a shot at 450!

It seems you and I put our scopes through similar use. Even though I like to bang steel, I do a lot of hunting. When I purchase a scope, I have that in mind. I like to hunt at night time too for pigs. I managed to kill one a few days ago at night using only ambient light. That is the reason I ask about the ultra bright.

And damn, sorry to hear about your missed shot. Definitely pay attention to where you are on your elevation...

Here's mine... although I'm thinking about selling her. Wanna try something different. COVID has made me crazy so I'm gonna try a Manners TCS I think. Although I do love this rifle... don't know yet.
Action: Impact Precision
