Is their an advantage to running a flash suppressor/hider vs a brake when using NV/thermal other than with regards to minimizing your signature? As in, does the flash from a brake temporarily obstruct your sight picture more so than what you get with a flash suppressor/hider? Any preferred muzzle devices for primarily night work (other than actual suppressors as those are a no-go up here)?

It can make a difference, but believe it or not, the standard A2 Birdcage is pretty good at balancing flash suppression and muzzle rise.
I used a YHM Phantom for years before I got into suppressors. That did a great job at suppression, but did little for muzzle rise and nothing for recoil.

Thanks for that. I know I'm missing a bunch of variables. Calibre-wise it would be for 6.5 Creed or .308 and possibly my .300NM. I'm thinking of getting a clip-on (PVS-30 or -27 most likely but possibly a thermal) and I'm setting up a few rifles to be ready to accept a clip-on without having to change anything (full length rails, 1.5" high scope mounts, rail above scope for RAPTAR) and just got to thinking about how much the muzzle device would affect sight picture (they currently all have brakes on them). I thought there might be some consensus along the lines of "muzzle device x is great with NV"
