THis has been percolating in the back of whats left of my feeble little mind for some time.

Heres hoping they dont but lets face reality, its slowly turning against us, and at any time big government under Kamalatoe could collude with big internet and close all shooting related sites, Poof, zappo, gone, I dont think its tinfoil, just not yet.

So should that happen what becomes of what we have here? Do we all lose contact? Is there a way we could avoid that? Have one or two trusted individuals, maybe Moderators (though that would entail extra work, maybe a donation to get on the list?), with a list of phone #'s and or email's for those who want to be able to contact one another in the worst case scenario above. Scarey, yeah I know but a thought.

Alternatively we should all have the contact for at least 5-10 others so we could find each other through net working. If I dont have a $ then I reach out to my 5-10 who reach out to theirs. That may be the safer, easier way. At this point I have 3-4

    Thoughts

Everyone needs to have the same concern about any form of social media. Have multiple contact methods for anyone important to you, and put emphasis on face-to-face relationships. Meatspace > cyberspace.

I think they like having us grouped together so we can be more easily identified and monitored. If we were smarter we might create a mirror of this site on the dark web.

I'll divide this into 2 posts, joke first and serious second

The porn hub site would probably crash like MDT did on black Friday and we would all be eventually divorced.

Are you suggesting that the government would interfere with free speech on the internet?

As re: # 2, of course not. I trust my gubmint and believe that they know what is best for this proletariat.

Im just suggesting a worst case scenario. And now the serious part, but will anyone act on it?

In thinking it around this am I, perhaps 2 persons from each state who are linked to the other states would be a simple effective way to do it.

I don't think the new government would want an retired Military Sniper teaching and training his skills to the deplorables. If they turn it off I guess it could continue on the Dark Side. Unless we use Frank's book so he can send out Ottendorf ciphers to all of us.

It's highly unlikely the government would directly get involved.
It would be more likely the enemies of freedom would do what they are having great success with now...
Global Elite mega corporations using financial and denial of service pressure to eliminate any viewpoints they don't agree with.
While the "good" folk blather on about "well they are a private company and can do whatever they want" or some such BS like that...

The basic problem is that most people now DEMAND (notice, I specifically said demand, not want, expect or are used to), everything on the internet to be "free" and "convenient".

Take a look at the site here just as an example.
What percentage of the users actually are "customers", as is what percentage actually pays for a monthly / yearly supporter membership towards the not insignificant cost of running this platform?

So as with most of the internet content, advertising dollars has to pay most of the bills and the "users" are actually the "product" being sold and the actual customer is the advertisers.

Now on this site, the advertisers are more closely industry and site aligned, so it's a lot harder to scare them off or cut them off in one go, like can easily be done to other websites / content creators that rely on more generic advertising.

More than likely the enemies of freedom would try to pressure the hosting companies and any payment processors in their campaign of harassment and then the lurking government trolls would step up their game to try to find any excuse to bust people for speech they didn't appreciate here.

But a question for the OP @Maggot
I don't see you listed as a paying site sponsor (unless I'm missing something), so if you don't feel the need/want/ability etc. to do so now, what makes you think you'll be willing to step up to the plate with a lot of more difficult financial and logistical support and keep paying for it, if something was to change?
Do you and others already have your network setup, your contacts setup, are you already testing out using some communication platform that does not rely on the mercy of big tech? Do you have your own server setup at a hosting company overseas and not likely to be easily bullied?

I don't think most folks understand how fragile our "freedom of speech" is and how quick it can disappear with a handful of corrupt judges and some politicians. Just look at England or Australia or even coming soon to Canada and many other western countries.

Chat on FB about why can't we have an anti lockdown protest if the government lets anti Trump protests happen..... Literally cue the police beating down the door to arrest some mother in front of her children for talking against the edicts...

Happen to be a mother and tell some mentally confused male to butt out of your conversations with other women about reproductive issues because they are a male despite however they want to live or present themselves and will never actually have any legitimate personal physical reproductive concerns about the physical aspects females have.... Literally cue the police beating on your door threatening you with arrest and wanting to drag you out of your house because you didn't bow down and lick the boots of some mentally confused type...

Don't think for a moment that "Red Flag" laws won't be used to the exact same effect the moment you say something online about not being happy with the destruction of yet more freedom or your willingness to defend yourself from some "just turning their lives around" types that are just "showing their anger at oppression" by robbing/raping/murdering you or burning your house down.

Ok. Assume "we" make a site on the dark web the gov cant take down.
How does membership get passedd around ?
Wouldn't there still be a worry of some level of gov spying ?

Anything is possible. They could decide to do exactly what you said. That's why it's so important to keep them out of the White House. If they are allowed to govern this country with control of both houses and the White House, I guess it would be time for some type of action by the populous.

    They won’t shut this down

They will use this site to monitor us. Join up and keep an eye on what we think, say and plan

Threads just like this one for example

They’ll be the first to jump in here and ask what exactly we plan to do to overcome their infringement on our constitution. How we plan to keep in touch. How set up we are already to handle the situation etc

They’re already on here, already watching and taking notes. We are their greatest source of information for those who would stand against their government. We put in the leg work for them on a daily basis by discussing these issues

The one thing they would axe is the selling of guns, ammo, parts etc. You can bet they’ll be on here monitoring our alternative solutions to getting parts as soon as someone starts a thread about that

If you use the internet, assume the government is watching you.
The "Dark Net" as they like to call it, was yet another government created and run project, just like the start of the internet.

Always count on there being some informants/spies/traitors/plants or turned people.

I highly doubt there would ever ben an attempt to shut down this site. There is no legal mechanism for the U.S. Gov't that I am aware that is actionable. If there ever was some form of legal ability for this to happen, there would be a lot of other issues that would require our attention.

How is there not a shortage of tin foil?

heh heh, While everyone is out grabbing toilet paper, I've been scoffing all the aluminum sheets.

I used to sound like a nut until I ran into a few interesting projects at work. I no longer work for any of the large consulting firms as I quit my job after a couple big data projects. I have adopted a working position that I don't mind corporations getting all that data. Most of them will only produce more annoying methods of advertising. What concerned me most is the Government forcing access to everyone's info as they seem hell bent on legislating our behavior and thinking (re: hate crimes)

That's it, I'm done with being a doc. I'm going to be selling a super special tin foil from now on.

To the op, you bring up a great point. If folks haven't already, it might be a good time to build local networks and work out some planning for some sort of old-school communication that can't be hacked or eavesdropped on. I'm not a tech wizard, so I don't know what that would consist of, but that is one contingency that, IMHO, should be planned for. If it never happens, oh well.

lol, i will ask how much i should load my bipod, and which one to get.

Wow you are fast on the replies...

I deleted within seconds of posting when i realized you had mentioned scope levels already.

No wonder no news escapes your view. :)
