Rifle Scopes ZCO 527 long term review

You lookin' for just a little snap on piece under the turret when lifted up so it can't return to its down position?

As with everywhere, there is a ZCO wait through me. However I've got some real tasty mounts/rings/levels just waiting for your 36mm love that we can sell you at the same time!
Dont see any 36mm rings on your website.

I’ve had my ZCO for several months now and like you, it’s quite the optic. I’m not a major fan of the locking turrets on my ZCO as I found that I would occasionally bump the turret down a little bit and it would grind against the lock when rotating the elevation knob. Schmidt and Benders locking turret design is probably my favorite. A clip of some sort to keep the turret unlocked (@Tyler Kemp looking at you mister 3D printing god) would be awesome to keep the turret unlocked. Other than that I have no other gripes about the scope that gives people Tangent Theta level glass for 1k less.
Would you just bump it down while making big adjustments? I had a scope that the weight of my hand while spinning the elevation knob, would work its way down and lock. I hated it.

FWIW, the locking turrets are the only major thing I dislike on my ZCOs. I want/need locking turrets, but these are a source of frustration for me. As long as I pay attention it's not a huge problem, but I do accidentally lock them from time to time when I'm not being careful, more often when wearing gloves. I would prefer something with a lever or button or something that isn't as easy to accidentally engage when simply using the turrets and accidentally pushing down on them.

And to anyone looking for a ZCO feel free to contact us, there's a little wait but we are getting ZCO's to everyone who wants one :)
And to everyone waiting, we appreciate your patience  With the pandemic going on, the supply chain with this whole industry has been out of wack. The good news is that the ZCO's are still steadily flowing, just a little slower than usual.

I purchased my ZCO 527 from CSTactical in June. My first alpha scope. It is awesome and CSTactical is a great vendor!

So it seems like some of you guys would like the elevation turret to either not lock or be able to disable the lock function? Interesting.

We'll keep listening, as always.
ALWAYS make them lockable. Field matches need locking turrets period! When you are hiking in terrain with a ruck you need to make sure they are locked at all times after sight in. Flat range matches that may not be needed, but it matters a ton in field matches. This should not even be a viable suggestion.

I agree with this. You can always leave it unlocked if you like. I much prefer the locking turrets.

Perhaps discuss a change to a lever style or button style lock, but I agree, keep the locking function. My rifles go in the field and non locking turrets would cross the scope off my list. I’m just not a huge fan of push/pull style locking since you can accidentally engage the lock if rushing and applying a bit too much downward pressure . That said, my latest ZCO seems a lot more resistant to this than some of my first purchases from launch time. I’m sure the other styles of locking turrets have downsides, as well.

My 5-27 mcpt 2 seems to get hung up between locked and unlocked on its own. Clicks between elevation and wind age are quite different. Don’t get me wrong great scope, but I thought for the money it would be a little more consistent. Had a razor gen ii before, optics are nicer but clicks are about the same. Razor was either locked or not, no middle ground.

Im still waiting for mine to show.
if ZCO is taking suggestions I may be the last remaining person who likes the MTC/heavy clicks but would be a good option. My shooting is at dusk and dawn and this is a feature ive enjoyed on some of my other glass. Also when my kid is on the gun i can listen to him dial and have an idea if hes doing it correctly. By no means a deal breaker though. I like my TT but wish it had locking turrets. For the moment ZCO has checked the most boxes on my list. Just need my scope to ship.

There is an ugly, black mark on your scope. PM me and I will give you the address to send it to for repair😂

All that those black marks must be from the ride in Brown Santa's sleigh....

As a serious question, what scope caps do people run on the 5-27's?

Depends on how you want to use your caps. Aadland are the best if you want to leave your caps on all the time. If you prefer to remove your caps for daytime/good weather use, tenebraix are better.
That's an excellent point, one I had not considered before.

As far as I can tell from the website there's still no MOA based reticle. Is that true and if so are there plans for one? Would love to put a 4-20 on my GAP Hospitaller.

I can attest to the quality of the ZCO brand. Unreal the difference this optic brings. To “my” eyes the resolution is perfect and the optic is a chunk of goodness. @CSTactical is an amazing distributor and ambassador for the brand as well. If anyone is on the fence, take a minute to get off that fence and spend the extra or it’ll cost you more later when you sell to get a ZCO.

SourMash that is awesome! You will not be disappointed.

I take that back, if you are forced to shoot another brand your buddy has you will be disappointed that you are not shooting your ZCO. This happened to me at a match where I did not think I had time to shoot the match due to evacuations. Turns out I did and he let me shoot his rifle. I was happy to shoot but it was torture.
