Sidearms & Scatterguns Guns and coffee

Apologies in advance.......no coffee cup photo center piece.

The cone barrel is the bomb; I am surprised more 1911 mfg. don't offer it. I especially like it in the Commander size.

I have countless 1911 grip paneal thin / thick aluminum / coco bolo / rose wood yadah yadah but I like the Wilson Combat Starburst grips the best and install them on almost every one to best control a .45 at combat speed.

All of my guns get used a lot at the range or carry, hardly any safe queens, but I like to maintain them meticulously so they don't look like pawn shop paper weights.

I have a bunch of the Wilson Combat holsters & mag pouches (shark skin and ostrich styles) but I consider them for black-tie outings; except for front pocket carry choices, my on-the-belt preference is to have at least a Level 1 Safariland ALS / GLS holster for carry use in general . Mostly, because I never want to enjoy the celebrity of this taxpayer-subsidized highly trained federal schmuck!

Great pistol design.

Thank you for the insight. Super view of that exposed barrel.

Appreciate the history on the starburst grips, too. I have a version of them on a gun. I agree with you....I will likely add more at some point.

The video of the the dance floor fiasco was mighty ugly. Remember seeing that get some airtime a short while ago. There is a huge responsibility that comes with carry....some folks just don't seem to comprehend.

^^ The take home message of the video in great part should be some innocent bystander was shot and the owner of the firearm never touched the trigger; muzzle direction control was not even an owner option!

Beautiful! Herrett grips?? Jordan's perhaps. Please give all details. Very nice piece.
I believe those are Eagle stocks, their Heritage Series. You're close though, those are near copies of Herretts Roper. My all time favorite stocks are BluMagnum Skeeter Skelton style, also quite similar in design. That's a recent Model 22 they're on. You're seeing the better looking side😁.

First cup of joe:
It’s a Navy Thing
Some theorize that it all started in 1913 when Josephus Daniels was appointed secretary of the Navy by President Woodrow Wilson. As the story goes, on June 1, 1914, Secretary Joe issued General Order 99. Order 99 prohibited alcohol aboard naval vessels. From then on, the strongest drink of any kind allowed on naval ships has been coffee. The presumably disgruntled and sober sailors weren’t happy with the changes, so they started to call coffee a “cup of Joe” out of spite.

Coffee with some history.

When a service pistol receives approval by the West German government for sale to police (Polizei) or military units, it receives a numbered “P” designation.
For years, the Polizei relied on the
P1 (Walther P38)
P2 (SIG P210)
P3 (Astra 600) service pistols,
until the mid-1970s when the West German government adopted a number of new "revised P" requirements:
1. feature a DA/SA action
2. 9×19 Luger chambering
3. 8 round magazine capacity
4.ability to de-cock the pistol via an external safety or de-cocking lever.

P4 Walther quickly added the de-cocker to their P38.
P5 Walther later submitted an updated design to meet all the new requirements; the Walther P5 was unpopular to agencies.

The SIG P225 is a more compact version of the SIG P220.
The P6 was a slightly modified version of its P225 to conform with new requirements:
1. Heavier hammer spring (increased trigger pull weight)
2. modified barrel ramp (improved feeding for contemporaneous developments in hollow point ammunition)
3. deformation hammer (unique feature for armorers to identify potentially damaged firearms mostly from falling out of clumsy holsters)
4. P6 roll mark - Polizei
An estimated 40,000+ SIG P6s were in circulation before the Polizei retired the SIG P6 in 2000.

P7 Heckler & Koch’s new PSP (Polizei- Selbstlade-Pistole or “police self-loading pistol”) ; it was too expensive for agencies.

Finally, In 2000, when the Polizei moved to the newer H&K USP (P8) and Walther P99Q, they eventually rounded up tens of thousands of P6 pistols and removed them from service. They then sold literally thousands of them to Century International Arms in Georgia (city... not state), Vermont whom imported them to the US and sold them as surplus police returns to civilians — usually for between $250-$300. For purposes of their import mark (which was required to be stamped on every P6 they sold), they tweaked their name to “Century Arms International” instead of “Century International Arms” to avoid the misconception that these guns had been imported by... the C.I.A.

I'm cheating with rifles again. My wife's frankengun. It lives in cruiser ready (loaded mag, bolt closed on empty chamber, hammer dropped so the safety cannot be moved from fire). Half the coffee was already drank, but there really is coffee in the cup. She is a south paw, so it is set up to be fully ambidextrous.

TGIF coffee.

Walther PPQ M2 9 mm secured in Safariland ALS-QLS mount.
A virtual clone of the HK P30-VP9 platform.
Wish the M2 had retained the M1 trigger guard i.e. HK style magazine release.
I have 10.5K rounds thru this one; maybe the best factory polymer trigger touch available; similar to an Apex.

Wilson Combat First Responder titanium automatic folder.

Not sure I understand your point, changing the mag release from a paddle along the bottom of the trigger guard to an American-style side button is what made the M1 into an M2.

I see you liked my prior post, and realized it sorta looks like I know what trigger that is and was being mysterious. I’m legitimately asking. Lol

Just saw this ...sorry ! The man I bought it from said it was a Volquartsen. I have the original Ruger trigger in its box. It’s a nice trigger. The wide shoe is wider than other Volquartsens I’ve seen ?

A leisure morning off-work calls for breaking out the French press and boiling some water.

Had the nightstand gun out to get cleaned/lubed. Hadn't done so after last range session.

I shoot this one better than any DA-SA gun I've tried.

Never seen a handgun mounted on a tripod before. I can see it as useful in getting an idea of accuracy, long range sight in, or handgun hunting. Curious as to what uses you find for it.

I lack the funds for the copious quantities of ammunition needed, but I would love to stretch my ability with semiautos out to 100 yards and wheel guns to 200-400 yards. I shot with a guy--when I was stationed in San Antonio--who could hit a 6 inch steel plate at 100 yards with his Sig P226 in 357 Sig, so I know it can be done.

I find the tripod pretty handy to sight in pistol optics out to 25-30 yds depending on firearm; don't use it for longer distances.
The Hellcat has a "universal" rail, however I found it as proprietary as a Glock or HK. My usual pistol picatinny rail mount would not securely hold it under recoil, so I modified (milled the cross slot screw to exactly fit the rail lug mortise on the Hellcat frame, shortened its length and removed some material to fit the short contour of the rail-trigger guard area) a Daniel Defense screw-on mount ; finally settled on the modified American Defense QD rail mount.

I use the LaRue Picatinny Rail Adapter for those pistols with 1913 mil-spec rails; M&P9 2.0 and Sig P320 V-Tac examples.
