They mentioned an ASR package. What do you think that would entail? I'm also hoping the folding stock will be released soon after and not a while later.

Looking forward to more info.

Not bad... Sort of want..

Now outside of a folder, and a slightly longer action, is what is one really gaining with the premium associated with the AXSR or AXSA? Been going back between an AX or MRAD, and the AT-X seems pretty cool

@Covertnoob5 Stop acting as if you don’t change gear every month. Who you’re kidding Will?! Lol

Haha true! But this thing looks legit. Plus there aren’t 101 aftermarket chassis available for an AI action. So I might do this and move my Vector to my NRL hunter series gun.

It's a match gun, the AX and AT rifles don't really lend themselves well to barricades and other ergonomics for match shooting as the barrel axis is all wrong compared to most stocks/chassis systems. This addresses those issues, check out Sam's Accuracy Obsession thread in the group buy section too, it explains the reasons why the AX/AT aren't ideal for matches out of the box.

This is awesome though, I like it!

Just wondering... why is the buttstock bent downwards, instead of having it inline with barrel?

I thought best recoil mitigation was for the centerline of the stock to be inline with barrel.
Has something different happened in the last years I haven't caught up on?

Few years back the buttstock on AI looked like a sideways Y, now its sideways J.

Meh !

Can't say I'm very excited by this. Its F'ugly for sure. The shorter pic rail is a much needed feature and I love how we are now adding weights to an AI, how times have changed !!

Comp trigger isn't all that. The magwell cut isn't really that useful and whilst the chassis might help on barricades you are still left with a heavy bolt throw 3 lug action that isn't optimal for competition. I love my AI but I don't see this as a revolutionary or needed upgrade. I will stick with my custom rifle for competition.

Sort of like being the last guy to the party and turning up with a mediocre bottle of wine.

If you can’t run your AI bolt in a match setting without issue......it’s your technique. Not the bolt throw weight.

Let's be honest. It isn't as good at staying on target as a custom action.

Let’s be honest, if you run the bolt properly, it is.

Put your thumb on top the grip area, just behind the bolt. The rifle stays on target fine. I don’t have any issue with my AI vs my lone peak or impact.

I literally just fixed this on another shooter yesterday. It’s 100% technique.

I know you can work around it but it's not the same imho. I wish it were, I love my AI.

Again, not a work around. It’s you. This is the same when guys say a bolt binds on xyz custom when they aren’t using proper technique

There are plenty of other things (like the trigger) that make bigger difference. Bolt throw isn’t one of them.

Good to know. I can tell Jacob he is teaching people the wrong technique LOL ;)

My only gripe with the AX was/ is the balance point of the rifle. Not as easy as my AW since that rifle has a 'flat' forend.

Didn't/ doesn't stop me from competing with it.

Will the AX short action transition now to the AR style pistol grips or retain the plastic skins?

Some of you don't understand the benefit of the balance set up,

Being able to tune and balance the rifle, as well as the super low CG make it shoot on the props better by not bringing the nose up during recoil

Scott sent me this, compared to a MDT ACC. look at the rifle in the back compared to the AI

if you have a keyslot aversion you might have a hard time looking at this new guy here. they really went all in on putting a keyslot everywhere itll fit. they wanted more so bad they even turned em sideways so they could cram more of them on the handguard. wonder if the hole the trigger pokes thru is a key slot hole....

Is the continuous top rail just so the support hand can go wherever it pleases?
Also does the stock allow for lower cheekpiece than the AX?
This seems like it'd be a decent platform to get a balanced gun that isn't too heavy

The Keyslot allows you to add and subtract the weights without interfering with other parts. You can stack them, you do have 3 reverse key slots underneath, for the internal weights too.

Keyslot allows the rails to be smaller, it's flush so they don't interfere with barrel swap, it's a good design and not Key Mod that is different

Is this one bonded to the chassis like the AX and AT or is it like the rest of the newer AI's? I cant get over how good that red camo looks lol

Why does the camo version look so much different than the all red version?
The magwell, trigger, hinge/stock, handguard, etc look different...

Is there a "stop being poor" discount? Asking for a friend... lol

That check I get for recording new videos in my online class this week is gonna disappear FAST.

This pic from yesterday's teaser left me puzzled, I couldn't place it on the rifle as it looked too thin.

After seeing today's pics I found it. It appears the AT-X chassis is a 2pc design with an upper/lower.

Is this production design, or simply split for ease of prototyping?

If you had an AXSR, you'd know that it's a different comp trigger than the X-Treme version that had those issues. Thus AI making their own, in house....
I apologize if I’m getting too off-topic as this appears to be an AT Comp focused thread now, but I was just going off some comments that @lowlight appeared to make about the AXSR triggers (pics below).

Additionally, in this in-depth review of the AXSR the author described a trigger issue he had, although it sounds like it was a pre-production model.
