Can someone tell me the specifications for Rem 700 BDL bottom metal action screws? I know they are 1/2"x28 socket head cap screws but what is the angle of the taper? 82 deg?
They're not a standard sized head, they're smaller in diameter and shorter than your regular 1/4-28 flat head machine screw. I'll measure one tomorrow for angle and diameter if no one else pipes up tonight.
Thanks for the intel guys. Great marketing that can order 100 1/4" x 28 torx flat head socket screws for 20 to 30 bucks from MSC Industrial but two from Hawkins Precision for BDL bottom metals are 18 bucks. Just change the dimensions enough so have product with non-standard specs.
I checked out my set of BDL screws against a 1/4-20 flat head screw and the angle looked to be the same 82 degree taper but like it was mentioned before it has a lower profile and smaller diameter. The BDL head was about 1/8" tall and about 3/8" in diameter whereas the 1/4-20 was a half inch in diameter and slightly taller, about 3/16" I'd say.
