Been bouncing back and forth on scope mounts for my AR recently.

Ive been debating on waiting for the new Reptilia MOS which is 1.54", also looked at the NF ultralight but don’t love the low 1.5" rise. Badger C1 is impossible to get in 1.7"

Then noticed vortex has a basic cantileaver which is basically 1.6", is only 6.7 oz and can be purchase for roughly $90. Any major downside to these? I would never go with aero precision due to the flimsy design but also don’t feel like I need a $400 scalarworks to attach a scope

Used to have one, it was serviceable enough, survived a lot of dump barrel spikes. Weird thing was the screws to clamp onto the rail were some cheap chinesium that didn't properly correspond to any metric or standard allen keys. Eventually stripped one and had to buy decent screws at the hardware store.

I run them on my 3 gun rifles. They have taken a beating and I've had no issues at all. I think they are made by the same company that makes the WARN mounts. They look to be exact copies.

Seekins makes the precision mounts for them. Not sure who makes their pro series. I just listed 2 different cantilever mounts if your interested.

Just came across Daniel Defense mounts. They are 5.5oz and looks low snag/sturdy. Can be picked up for roughly $140

I've been using that Vortex mount for years on various rifles and multiple optics, it's a serviceable mount, not the best, not the worst, pretty good for the money. Mine originally came with hex head screws and I swapped them all out for Torx head. They're 8-40 T15's so pretty easy to get ahold of.
