Just wanted to get a reality check, as I ship with fedex normally.

RRS SC-LR mount. Weighs 4oz and 3"x2". I go to checkout and they estimate it's free, cool. It probably just goes in an envelope. Costs them $3-5.

After I enter my zip code it jumps up to $23, or 2nd day for $26. What? For a 4oz package? I know this would cost me less than $5 to ship across the country, and it only needs to go 2 states. Unless they're tossing it in a huge box?

Am I crazy? Is this normal for them? I can't find it in stock anywhere else. Mile High is the only other place I've found it (which I would rather support) but they're out of stock.

Yeah it's pretty normal. I got their mlok to arca plate and shipping was like $20 lol

At least they have speedy service.

Shopping is a profit center for them.

I'd sure hope so.... (we need some sort of sarcasm indicator here)

If they had it listed as shipping and handling, at least then it's understood you're paying the monkey to put the part in the box.

Well, I got out the vasaline and got ready.

I guess it was only $3 extra for 2nd day instead of 7-10, so I know it'll be here wednesday/thursday. Now I feel like I got something since at least it'll be quick!

My option is to just drive down and pick it up myself. Did that with my sclr and adapter for my atlas. Also got to talk to @MPHReallyRightStuff and see what they have in person. 48 miles away and I can go to some other stores in the area at the same time. Lehi roller mills makes some tasty stuff.

Yeah some of our stuff is f'd up. Trying to fix it, with over 5000 sku it isnt a quick process.
Whether its a broken shipping estimator, messed up weight in the system, messed up insurance amount, etc. It can skew things.
It usually fixes it when finalizing the checkout but with the high dollar amount for shipping estimated right there, who would go forward to recognize its jacked up.

As someone said, give us a call. That is tough sometimes since we have so few manned phones. But give my direct line a call and Ill call you back if im on the phone and items under a threshold amount can go USPS and waive the UPS insurance and contract stuff. Michael 385-248-0800

I figured I needed it and you have it. Just surprised me when the cart said $0.00 after I put in my zip code and went to $23 during checkout.

I'll remember to not procrastinate, and give you guys a call in the future.

I've been waiting for a backorder since 1/22/21. I don't mind the wait or the shipping charges as much as the state tax. It's twice as much as the shipping.

So I ordered the ARMS LR right when it was announced and I made a comment to them that the shipping was a bit harsh at $16 and change. I wasn't expecting any sort of reduction or anything after my order was placed and it was meant to be some constructive feedback. RRS responded and said they looked into it and that was the price as quoted through their shipping system for my zip code and that was just how it was for UPS.

I wasn't going to argue the point. I just accepted the shipping cost but I thought to myself, what if I tried other zip codes and various zip codes all around CONUS and they were pretty much the same price ($16) for shipping for a single ARMS-LR. I then put in the same zip code for RRS in Lehi UT and it was only $1 less than what it was to ship to me in California.

I get that shipping isn't really cheap unless you're a huge volume retailer that controls supply chain (e.g., Amazon). I sell stuff online myself and shipping can add up when it insurance gets factored in. But there is a happy medium to strive for.

EDIT: Just to add on, I do really like RRS overall. When I had an issue with a clamp I bought not fitting my existing several year owned BH-55, they covered the return shipping on the plate *and* the head so they could check out the fitment and resolved the issue with an out of spec clamp.
