So is it a bad time for a vacation in Taiwan?

Seriously, what’s the over/under on when the CCP takes Tiawan?
Also, who’s gonna do anything?

My oppinion: attempt likelihood
Within 1 year 40%
Within 3 year 70%
Within 5 years 90%

Chance of success with current admin, about 80%. Caught American nationals may become hostages.

If you are going to meet a girl buy her a ticket to Singapore and meet her there. If going for business ask them to come to you.

Russia is building up forces on the Ukraine border, biden hasn't said shit....

I'm sure this will go the same way.

10k NG guarding DC, but wont protect anyone else.

Not that I want another war, because I dont. I've seen the "war on terror". Lost cause at this point. Trying to win hearts and mids....that was never gonna be successful.....

More than likely the Chinese will wait. There are some who want to reunite with China. The younger generation doesn’t want that at all. China will continue its current strategy. It will force Taiwan to become part of China by threats that it can back up in 6 or 7 years. By that time we will be to weak to do anything anyway.

My FIL cost me $1700 a month for his care. He lives in Taiwan. I would save a shit ton of money if the Chinese would invade. Because of this I know they won’t invade until after he dies and I pay the bill for his funeral.

By now you should know better, media in US probably rivaled only the Norks when it comes to pushing propaganda. Absolute garbage.

Chinese have time and will not invade Taiwan any time soon , ''If you wait by the river long enough, the bodies of your enemies will float by''

As for Russians close to the Ukrainian border .........

Since the 2014 U.S. led coup in the Ukraine the 'Russian military buildup' has happened during spring, summer and winter each and every year.
It is not just near the Ukraine where a 'Russian military buildup' is happening. The same can be said about the Arctic.
It is also in Syria where a Russian military buildup happens and let's not forget the Far East.

In fact, there is a 'Russian military buildup' wherever one looks and at all times.:ROFLMAO:

The bounties on US servicemen are almost as evergreen. The only fictitious bounty missing is from Venezuela, but i am sure we will get there eventually.🧻

I'm just curious about what brought this question on? I'm guessing you are planning a trip over?

For me I don't think I would travel internationally until the covid BS gets settled.

Chances of you having some hassle because of covid-19 rules = 99.8% chance.

Chances of Taiwan being taken over by Mainland forces = Most likely never.

Hi,

What makes you say/think that?
I have not stopped travelling the entire time, internationally (Some that require Visas through Consulates before travel and some that do not) and domestically.
What sort of "hassle" are you talking about?

Sincerely,
Theis

I quit counting when I hit 70 countries, and rather recently (past couple of years) moved back to the US from China. No I'm not Chinese.

Honestly I don't know specifics about exactly what they are doing right now but in half of the states in the US they are still going nuts over covid.
That said lots of places require a valid type of covid-19 test prior to boarding the plane, some places require a quarantine when you arrive. A lot of restaurants are closed etc etc.

I guess it just depends on what you are going to do. For me though it's worth it to wait and not have to deal with the bullshit.

It's not that you can't go. It's just that it's more complicated and potentially less enjoyable.

Keep in mind that I am coming from the perspective of not even wanting to drive to Houston for the weekend. All the ass clownery surrounding covid and masks isn't my thing.

No Hassel besides resturaunts closed
That's one big one for me. If you want to go for business that's ok. It's probably fine, or rather is fine. But if you want to go chill out on the beach and have a party or mingle with the locals the vibes I'm getting are that it's not back to normal yet.

Not even a week ago one guy was slated to head to Germany. He got his covid test and went to the airport. Problem is he got a test that they didn't recognize. As a result he wasn't allowed to board the plane. He got a hotel, scheduled a new test, and several days later was finally allowed to board. It was a big pain in the ass and he hadn't even left the airport in the US yet. As far as I know he didn't even get to where he was supposed to be until about 5 days later.

Taiwan is on the back burner, the (E. Asia) excitement is in Burma.

p.s. Alamo welcome home.
I've lived in Asia for a long time (since 1994). It's been my primary area of study actually. I love it.

The original poster made it sound like he was wondering about an invasion. He would be better off avoiding the outdoors for fear of being struck by lightning.

On the other hand I can write a book about which airports are best and worst to sleep in. One of the more memorable ones was being out in the middle of nowhere in Africa sleeping on the floor in between a Somali soccer team and the lady with chickens.

Somali must be a tough neighborhood.

Have you tried going to Australia recently?

From what my relatives there tell me the whole country has turned rabidly xenophobic.
