Lolo! This all happened in the first 5 minutes:

Why are all those hockey players in the booth together .... Playing Tummy Sticks ????

Just look at the number of penalties in the first 5 minutes, hahaha. Rangers penalty box was the same. They came off of the face off directly into a six man fight. Six penalties in the first second of the game.

That’s because the rangers got chewed out by everyone in NewYork and the hockey world for being soft the night before.

as good as it was to see them go at it...they had to be shamed.

the owner Dolan is a old school super fan. That’s why he tossed half the front office 2 days ago...building a soft team.

The Rangers called out Wilson for his “horrific act of violence” against Panarin.
Yet started the game with dropping the gloves with every pair on the ice.
I personally love it, it’s hockey not soccer. The Players protection is one thing, being a pussy is another.

I agree that the Rangers had to make a statement in this game. Win or lose, their reputation had to be updated.

Best explanation I've ever heard about hockey and why it is the way it is.

Great game, NY got what they deserved. Loved it when Oshie just skated away from the rookie when he dropped his gloves.
GO CAPS!
Oshie just lost his dad recently. Was an early coach in his life in Warroad. Being from Minnesota, I have got to watch him play since he was a kid. Only bad choice he has made in his life was going to UND to play college hockey... :p :ROFLMAO:

lol that penalty box pic. I just saw the scrap they had at puck drop and it looked pretty crazy. Wild how they let hockey players go at it. I noticed there was one big guy that no one really wanted a piece of (I don't follow hockey much).

There are definite reasons for it. Part of the unwritten rules of conduct. Also good to remember that everyone on the ice has a staff and 2 razor blades on their feet. The podcast I linked on #14 explains really well.

That was probably Zdeno Chara. Not only is he the tallest player (6’9”) in NHL history, he just recently became the oldest player to get a 5 minute major penalty for fighting 😂

Yeah, Chara is not generally known for shunning a fight, lol.

you gotta let them know if you take a shot, you're gonna get some back.
i used to love the old days where somebody would cross check gretzky to the boards hard, maybe a high stick, and out would skate mcsorley to take revenge.
sort of like when a pitcher is sort of expected to throw at a batter if somebody on his team just got beaned.

Outstanding source of info and history of hockey!

If you’re not playing the psychological game too, you’re not playing to your full potential.

Before Bettman... it was a self cleaning oven. You mentioned McSorely, but there were so many who filled this role. They could play, they could skate and keep up (generally speaking) but you KNEW if you crossed the line-there would be severe Hell to pay. (An armed society... etc.)

Even Mad Mike Milbury wound up in the crowd-beating a poor fucking moron fan with his own shoe. LMFAO!

Proof:

If you loved skating and or hockey as a kid in the 70's...

Slapshot makes you laugh. You understand.

Nowadays?!

Hug that shit out yo.

This kinda stuff makes me believe we are not done as humans.

Not... quite... yet.

RIP Grapes. Just sayin'.

Marty had some good dust-ups after someone ran Wayne... :ROFLMAO:

I like the game better now than back in the "Broadstreet Bully days". I prefer good skating and passing to the clutch and grab stuff back in the 70's and 80's. The fact that little guys under 6' can still be successful in a pro sport because of good skating and hands is important to me.

This was probably the funniest fight I ever saw in pro hockey:
Neal was an 8th grader when I played against him as a senior, and he made us look stupid.
Cheers

Hockey. God I love it.

Best recent Hockey story. Dallas Star passes out on the ice from a heart condition. Wakes up. "Can I go back in?"
Any other sport, they’re out for a month with a hangnail. In hockey, it’s off to get some stitches, and back on the ice next period. Chara and a kid with Carolina (#37, Russian, can’t spell his last name) both played with a broken jaw in the playoffs.

It's a mans sport and shaking hands after is great to watch as well
Its just old school--like how we used to play as kids. Rough, full tilt, no refs per se (Only the supervisor to keep us from killing each other), and when its done, we all go to class. Next recesses GAME ON!

I do think that that is an important part of it all. Give it everything you’ve got and fight like hell, but respect your opponent. If you research the olympics a bit, that was the whole point of those games...originally anyway.

way back when, NHL had a 100 Stitch Club. Couldn't belong til you had 100 stitches.
Today Karen's would go crazy against such a club
