Garmin AB watch

Same here. I hadn’t worn a watch since my military days. I only take mine off to charge or if I know I’m going to be getting really dirty like working in the yard and stuff.
I wouldn't even bother taking it off for yard work. I live on a ranch, and never take it off even when dealing with livestock. I have bounced off t posts, animals, trailers etc and it still isn't scratched. Pretty amazed by the durability.

Well I was making concrete the other day, I def didn’t want to get any of that on it.

Guys I do need some help after getting my Sig Kilo 3000 out of hibernation . I can't get my Tactix Delta to actually receive and process the range data from the Sig Kilo 3000. Sig is set to ABE/ABX mode (for external), Tactix Delta shows the Kilo 3000 as connected under sensors / applied ballistics. But when I range something, the distance does not show up in the AB app on the watch.

What do I have to "activate"/set the AB app to, to get the LRF data?

It was working last year, pretty sure. Manual did not help ;) LRF is sending correct data to Sig BDX smartphone app.

Only thing I can think of is updating the firmware on the watch if you haven't done so already. Not sure why the connection would fail period, but maybe that has something to do with it.

Garmin Firmware is 15.20, seems to be up to date. Sig BDX app also does not suggest an update for the LRF.

I have a target set in the AB app (T1 = 600m), does it have to do with this? this would suggest it has to overwrite my target card settings to use the LRF range measurement - if so, is there a way to "reset"/turn off the targets/target card?

Those questions I don't know the answer too unfortunately.

Are you trying to range something far or close? It won't work under about 45 yards IIRC. If that's not the case, I'd try deleting the connection on the watch under sensors and re-adding it. There is nothing you need to "activate" or setup. If they're paired properly it should just work.

yes... now I tried something further away - did no work. I then removed the Sig Kilo 3000 from the Garmin watch and paired it again.
First measurement did work - so it was some kind of paring issue. 2nd, 3rd, 4th.. measurement then did not change the distance in the AB app on the watch detected by the LRF. Tactix is set to auto update for environmental data, in case that matters.
So not 100% what the problem is. Just went back out after checking the connection status in the watch, measurement then did appear on my watch... Maybe a battery issue? But the Sig says, battery is good.

edit: I just realized it might be a bluetooth connectivity issue with the watch - the bt icon is often not shown in the main screen, which also leads to a delay when I try to sync the watch to the garmin app on my phone. Is there any kind of energy saver mode I can shut down? I have none activated ;)

There are power modes, but unless you've specifically gone in and created a new one with your own settings that's not likely the issue.

@DocUSMCRetired - any ideas?

The main issue - not showing my measurements - seems to be solved (because I only tried it indoors and not on the range).
The 2nd issue is the BT connectivity it seems - every time I go to the sensors menu it does search for the connected devices, thus enabling bluetooth for sure. But after transmitting the measurement after switching back to the AB mode the BT seems to go dormant for some seconds or minutes, disrupting the connection/measurement transfer to the watch.

Can you double check you are on the newest Firmware in both devices?

I use a Galaxy Note 10+ (Android 11 up to date)

When I search directly in the play store, I'm not able to find the AB Synapse App. Maybe it is not approved for the german market and/or not listed?
The Applied Balistics App or Garmin Explore are listed and ready for installation.
For those following this thread and are willing to use the app in Germany: good news!

I reached out to Nick at Applied Ballistics and he checked the country entries for the AB Synapse App in the Google PlayStore. What shall I say... It is now listet and can be installed to Android devices.

Thanks a lot for helping me out.

According to my devices, no updates are available (checked with the SIG BDX app and the Garmin connect app on my phone).
I did not change the Timeout from the Kilo3000 from the default setting

Correct updated firmware before I downloaded the app. still no joy, does the watch have to be in a pair mode, seperate bluetooth on/off switch?
If you press "Connect" on the top right of the app you'll see a list of nearby watches. If yours doesn't show up, go to the Tactix and hold the left middle button down to get to the menu. Scroll down and select "Phone". Scroll down and select "Pair Phone." At that point it should show up on the app and you can select it.

Any idea why the same exact setting is the watch are indeed not 100% the same as the Kestrel 5700? I mean they are close, but I might need to tweak to get them to line up exactly.

All the usuals are the same prints on paper perfect at 550y with the Kestrel at the expected velocity and 1000 with the cdm. The watch needs to be 30fps faster with the cdm but all lines up one done. Again, I've seen this stuff before but just hoping for some feedback as to why this continues to be so.

@Diver160651 how do you know the cdm in both the kestrel and the watch are the same revision? Do they track it you use G7 on both?

If it is CDM then they are being tracked by their own drag model, hence CDM. Otherwise yes, G7, but using doppler they get their own custom curve model

I know what a cdm is, diver was inquiring why he is seeing a difference in the suggested dope for cdm on both his watch and his kestrel I believe. Switching to g7 on both would rule out different versions of the cdm on each device. AB and their partners release their databases at different times and you have very little view on what version you have and what has changed.

I had the same issue on my kestrel and finally sold it. It was giving me bad dope and after several attempts working with AB and Doc on here we couldn't figure it out. I gave up on it and sold it

sorry...probably beating a dead horse at this point...
Just got my new Tactix Delta solar with AB. Firmware update done on the watch and on my Terrapin. Terrapin connected to watch.
Rangefinder readings don't show up in AB on the watch. What am I missing? FYI, I read through this thread and tried a few of the tips, nothing is working.

Ya, I have no idea what CDM are on both devices. That said, it is possible with all user settings to occasionally get slightly different data not only on the watch, Kestrel, IOS but even with AB Analytics. Not enough really to miss a plate, but it appears things like rounding and AJ are not applied universally.

The Ballistics Database version for your Kestrel can be viewed in the Kestrel LiNK Ballistics app>... menu>Settings>Application Preferences>scroll to bottom, the current version is 151900

The Garmin manual is pretty lacking in detail, I'd look under the AB Setup menu or within the Connect update app.

If you go to the menu (hold down center left button) and select 'System' then 'About' then page down until you see the page with the AB versions. It will have the Core Solver version as well as the Bullet Library version. Keep in mind individual Profiles created with the AB Synapse - Garmin smartphone app may use a newer version than the built-in library.

@Garmin could you please provide some help to my question, about three posts north of here?

Any possibility of 701AB - plrf10/15/25 bluetooth compatabilty in the future?

The 25c? Maybe an updated bluetooth dongle for the 10/15?

I have a question for @Garmin and anyone else that may have experience with the Tactix AND the Decent Mk2i dive computer. I currently own the Tactix and now shopping for a dive computer. I am attracted to the Garmin Mk2i because of the similarities in design, accessory sharing and app usage.

If I have both watches, and switch between each for activities, will the Connect app dashboard blend the data from each watch or will it store two profiles I have to toggle between? Mostly referring to apps that are shared between both watches like health, fitness and sports widgets (NOT AB or dive functions).

Another thing... Is there a way to display depth(under water) on the Tactix? I know its not a dive computer, I just want to know depth while freediving and I haven't figured out a way to do so.

Hi @gunrgood
as far as I know, with the fenix 6/Tactix Delta models the measurement is done by the barometer combined witch GPS data. So receiving GPS signals under water is not possible and the barometer doesn't work either. From my point of view, that won't work.

The best way to show and analyse all your activities is the connect.garmin.com website. There you will find all activities form all your registered devices. You can manage and also erase them.

In addition to that the actual Garmin premium models share a function called Garmin Physio TrueUp. It synchronizes training date between your devices. If you track the same activity with two devices and you have duplicate activities in your account, Physio TrueUp will only download one of the two activity files to your device.

@Virtuosity,

I haven't tried connect.garmin.com yet, just the app. I will give that a look.

Also, the Physio TrueUp is new to me. Thank you for those suggestions.

I am bummed the watch doesn't reference pressure separate from GPS. I really like my Suunto Core for the ease of setting altitude/pressure reference quickly but its sensor only reads to a depth of 10m and that doesn't work for me. I realize the Tactix and Core are not in the same league nor are either of them dive watches.

Still debating between replacing my fenix 5 with this or getting a 701 and new battery for the fenix

The watch does reference pressure separate from the GPS. The barometer and the barometric altimeter work just as the Suunto does. You can however auto calibrate the barometric altimeter to your GPS location, which is maybe why there's some confusion. A GPS signal is not necessary to obtain the barometric pressure though.

I own a Fenix and a 701, I'd go Tactix AB over a 701. The 701 as a pure ballistics calculator has a slight edge over the AB watch as you have a little more screen real estate, but it's literally a stone age GPS unit.

How up to date is the GPS in the tactix I mean wouldn't garmin update all them when new stuff comes out I would think

Hey All,

Hoping for some help with my Tactix AB specifically the dope output I'm getting.

Currently the watch is giving me dope .2 mil higher than my AB app on my phone and I cannot figure out why. All of my rifle/atmospherics stats are the same and I'm wondering if there is something obvious I'm missing with the setup.

Thanks in advance

Make sure you are not using powder temp or something like that, has to be a setting off, or maybe the Garmin is not getting the weather the same as the kestrel as you need a Tempe to get Temperature with it

Yes I figure it has to be a setting in the watch. Have a tempe connected and have double checked other data. I also adjusted the zero height in the - field as I read earlier in this thread.

Showing a 12" drop at 200yd in the watch for some reason.

260 Rem
2660fps
Nosler 140 RDF

thae new garmin is sweet
but the 701 works just fine

Thanks for the replies, I have been playing with all settings and making sure the powder temperature isn't on.

What is confusing is the velocity on the watch and bullet path in inches is consistently different even though all user variables are the same. I will make some calls tomorrow to see if these are using the same formula.

With all measurements and my velocity checked again today the dope is within .1 mil but the velocity is about 30fps different in the apps at 1000yd. The drop is -310" in my phone but showing -370" in the watch...

I'd like to make sure you're all aware that you can load Beta software from Garmin for your Tactix Delta with AB from the following link: Garmin Forums - Fenix 6 Family. You want to use the version for the Fenix 6X Pro. This is the correct one for the Tactix as well.

We've made some changes to the Target screen and Target Card screen. Target now has a box around the selected/live target so you know which one is on the main screen. The Target Card has been reworked to allow the display of 4 targets at a time on the screen. This allows you to use the Target Card without all the scrolling previously required.

These will both be in the next Production Release as well but you can try them now if you'd like.

got any screen shots of the target card setukp?
The changes can be reverted if I need to? I dont want to run this beta update and have things not lining up before I shoot the Grand Slam this weekend but having 4 targets on one screen would sure save me a lot of scrolling.

There are instructions on the download page, where it explains how to install, that also explain how to roll back to the previous release.
