I had back ordered the 6.5 cm KAC upper last year; it's finally inbound.

Bad time to get into a new caliber (I have a ton of .308 load components, but not 6.5)
I realize there is a reload subsection, but curious what I should feed this new puppy?

I will of course try to buy factory loads as possible, but didn't know if the KAC has a favorite bullet type or weight as a starting point?
I will go stalk the reload boards too, thanks

I don't own a KAC 6.5... but my 6.5CM's like cheap S&B 140gr for break in and 100yds plinking.

And the Hornady Amer. Gunner 140gr has also proven to be a cheap practice round.... with outstanding 100yd groups.

For instance, the Horn. , 10rds rapidish fire.. I flubbed the flier, to giddy. ( I don't always shoot like this, but... the shooting God was in my court that day. )

YMMV.

Berger 130 otm factory ammo is awesome in mine. Getting 2770 avg. When im out of factory I’ll load up some 130 OTM’s to that same velocity and give that a go.

KAC states 140gr Berger is what they used in development.

The factory Berger Ammo has been the best in my experience, across multiple guns and barrel lengths. The 130 stuff is fast fast fast. I was 2870ish out of the 22” gun without brass/primer issues. For reloaders, Reloder 16 has given me the best speed, but Vhit N555 seems to be more forgiving and it’s a little bit cleaner.

Mind sharing your RL16 load either here or via PM?

41.6gr in Lapua Brass, CCI200 primer. Loaded out to factory berger length, can't remember what that is off the top of my head and all of my reloading stuff is buried as I move from Las Vegas to Reno.

Is that the load you used for that KAC challenge?

Has anyone run the FGMM 6.5CM with the 130 berger in the KAC 6.5 upper? I just had 100 rounds show up and turns out it's small rifle primer..... not sure if this will work in my kac 6.5CM upper.

Measure the tip of your firing pin in the 6.5CM upper, should be .060 if you have a HP Bolt. I wouldn't imagine Knights using a Large firing pin in a Creedmoor but stranger things have happened, but regardless I think it will still fire off the small rifle primers just fine.

Here's a picture of what it looks like when you use a large firing pin on a small rifle primer.
