Hey I’m having trouble figuring out which scope to buy for this next hunting season and general marksmanship training. It will be going on a 18” 6.5 Grendel AR. I’m looking to spending in the neighborhood of 600$ so recommendations would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

No reason to spend $600. Get the $149 4x16-50 with red dot and laser off Amazon. Mine is super accurate.

If I have all 3 on at the same time it makes a perfect triangle as your aiming point.

You know I don’t get this in the car community. Why can’t gun enthusiasts be more helpful instead of acting like know it all pretentious assholes.
You start by posting in the right thread, when you do that you will get a lot more help and a lot less grief
Try posting in the optics thread, you'll get less flack.

BTW, welcome to the Hide.

Bear Pit: Best pace on the net for having fun.

Observation and Sighting Devices: Best place on the net for learning about optics.

I would give you a serious answer here, but it might ruin the fun.

Get on over to O&SD and enjoy the well written and insightful info.

Oh and read and use the sticky: Tips For Asking Advise On Rifle Scopes.

I’d start at least one more thread. Two seems to be stretching it if your looking for an answer

I have a PA 3X Compact on 16" BCM and ring 10" steel plates with boring consistency at 300 yds.

I think I paid $200.00 for it three years ago.

I’ll help a bit,

It would help if you posted a few things like,

Does weight matter
What magnification do you want
Do you want illuminated reticle
Do you want drop reticle
Do you want to spin turrets

The recommendations for scopes will differ for a 300 yard whitetail rifle vs a 800 yard prairie dog rifle

Go with the Quigley Ford as posted earlier . It is one badass scope . Its purposely designed so that once you have become familiar with the scope it's alot like operating a cement mixer !

Well it’s for western mule deer and I have a 600 yard rifle range close by. Weight isn’t much of a concern and as far as magnification it could be 3x18,4x20,5x25. Yes I want a drop reticle maybe mil dot or a Christmas tree of some sort. Illumination isn’t a deal breaker.

Congrats for taking it all in stride and not getting banned, now step back look at the huge list of forums, read, use the search feature (a similar question to yours has probably been asked 20 times previously) and I'm sure you will get the info you desire.

Athlons are nice. I have the Cronus BTR which is obviously out of the price range but seems the cheaper models are decent as well

I purchased a Burris XTRII 3-15 here that I run on a fn SPR and really like it. You can find them here in the px for decent price. Or check Natchez for sales

I’ve played in the Vortex for $600 range and wouldn’t recommend them as I was a participant of the great customer service several times

I have several Sightron SIII that work well but more target oriented

Personally for cheaper LR scope options I like Burris. I’ve used their CS service once for a fingerprint looking smudge on a E1 optic. Was very impressed and have had excellent results with their optics in general

My high end guns wear NF Atacr which is obviously a bit more $$$

Hello fellow firearms enthusiast.

First off, you're in the wrong forum.

Second, from a simple search, there are literally 789890787908890709 'what scope should I buy threads' in existence on here.

Third, there is (was?) a sticky in that forum that spells out what specifically to give us as far as info on the type of scope you want.

Fourth, and probably the most important, don't ever apologize on here for anything, because we will fucking kill you.

This is the first time using this forum sorry for not following the rules

it’s not rules, just the wrong place.

but before you go post this in the optics thread use the search. Everyday some new guys asks the same question “tell me which scope to buy”.

you’re gonna get flamed for being lazy and not doing your own research.

And if it were my money, Quigley Ford is the only option.

and many other brands to look through ,
good luck what ever brand you decide to get .
also may want to check out camerland if you can find the link in the forums might be able to get a deal on what your looking for .

I have a couple SWFA scopes and though not top of the line like a Night Force or, etc. They do the job. Plus they're in Texmerica. Good company to do biz with as well.

…instead of acting like know it all pretentious assholes.
Because 99.103% of the Hide members are in fact know it all pretentious assholes. Don’t let these pricks dissuade you but I would recommend heading on over to the optics section and reading for a few days then posting a question.
Now back to our regularly scheduled losers bashing on you to make themselves feel better.
