Being controlled round feed, can I still single feed a round by dropping it in the chamber? Or does it have to feed from the mag?

Also, anybody know what height ARC rings to run with a Mk5hd 3.8-18x44?

Single feeding is completely fine!
I'm not sure on the ring height, what profile barrel?

X-Low should work. I run the XLow with Vortex pst2 3-15x44mm with M24/40 bbl

So I have a Origin newbie question; do I need to do go/no go's on my build. I have two days to get my receiver, then I can put it all together. If I torque to speck do I need to worry about gauging it?

I use unfired brass and tape to check headspace. Tape goes on case head. U can probably find a video on how to do it correctly! Important

I only use a go gauge, with scotch tape to make it a nogo, but I check every barrel that goes on since it’ll have 60k psi trying to poke my eye out.

With a shouldered you’re checking, not setting.
Trust but verify.
Ok, thanks.
Midway is having a sale so I might just do that.
Stupid question, what kind of tape and where?

Normal everyday scotch tape. I put a layer on the back of the go gauge and trim the overhang with a razor and voila, you made a no go gauge. Measuring it your your reloading case comparator (or shit, just oal if you only have calipers still works for telling the relative gauge length) will let you see exactly far out from go you are. So you can stack layers of tape to see just how much extra space you have if it’s longer rather than shorter on headspace.

Even with a shouldered prefit barrel it is a good idea to check headspacing. Somehow I have managed to never purchase my own set of gauges. I am on the go-no go loaner program lol.

Would graphite black be the closest cerakote match to the nitride finish of the Origin?

And I finally got the silencer tube for the 458 SOCOM above. Still need to build the guts but this is how it should look. It may not look straight because it is just the tube laid there, I haven't built the end caps yet.

ETA: That is a hand made bullet to get the weight for stability calculations. It is 3” long and 850 grains and out of a 10 twist it would be stable (barely). I will likely use the 600+g bullets from a manufacturer though.

I am also going to shoot my 575g bullet. It is a hammer.

What's that thing gonna be used for?

I also threaded the OD of the barrel to accept a standard AR barrel nut. I screw the barrel nut on, torque it down and then install the handguard. Any standard AR handguard will work.

Next is to thread the muzzle 3/4”-24 and make an adapter to go from 3/4”-24 to 1”-14. The silencer is actually for my 50 BMG which I threaded.

New to me Origin build in "sixty-two fitty" ...for 300rds anyways, then it'll be a 6CM. (Lapua 22-250 necked up to take a 6mm bullet, then fire-formed into 6mm Creedmoor. Just because Lapua doesn't make 6CM LRP brass doesn't mean you can't.)

Origin
Manners PRS-TCS GAP Metallic high gloss
26" 1:7.5T Proof competition contour
TT Diamond

Before anyone says "what an idiot" to using up barrel-life to fire-form... Hear me now, believe me later, it's not so bad, here's what 10 rounds at 750 yards off a Shmedium and tank-trap looked like:

...and here's what rounds #47-50 out of the barrel looked like, 4 for 4 at 1250 yards:

Thought I better post my recent Origin transformation. Started life as a 6.5CM in a Bravo and now a 6BRA in an MPA Matrix and boy is she a shooter😍

Do you have SpongeBob on that scope?

Nope, almost, think the kid stuck sponge bob somewhere else hahaha.

...I mean, Vortex must want us to stick stickers all over them or something, why else would they make them shit brown?...

Camo is just a sponge pattern I did over the factory sponge. Natural seal sponge cut a bit to feather the edges. Just have all the colors you want in little dishes (I use new glass ash trays from dollar store). Start sponging in random areas and continue subsequent colors until the gun is covered. It will look fairly “blotchy” at this point. Now you continue to layer the colors overlapping. This is where feather the edge of the sponge gives the effect.

MDT ESS Chassis "No railed forearm on order"
TT 2 stage Diamond Flat
ARC Rings
Burris XTR3 5.5-30/56 SCR2 "not mounted due to full rail in the way"

Cant wait to get it fully functioning and a load worked up for it.
