Ok, so I sold my ex's Genesis and I've decided to buy a Benelli M4 with part of the booty. What do I need to upgrade?

It's settled. The Benelli M4 is the way to go. I can get an H2O with a pistol grip stock for about $1,900.00 Now this isn't the one with the collapsible stock. Those approach Government bribe level money but it is the pistol grip Cereakote titanium model #11794.

I understand a few upgrades make it super sweet. A higher capacity magazine tube is #1 on the list, which one? There seem to be enough to confuse Stephen Hawking. Also, the extended bolt release. The stock one looks like my ex's nipple after 4 hours of foreplay. The OEM forend looks a little lame compared to some I've seen that were riddled with Mlocks or Picatinny rails, but again, which one? After that I'm not sure it really needs anything else otherwise it starts to look like my Grandma's Easter Hat. Oh, and swap out the OEM improved cylinder choke for an actual cylinder bore.

Sometimes things just have a way of working out. This is one more of my "Bucket List" guns I can cross off. Next, I'll start my pursuit of an HK Mk-23.
As always, I'm open to suggestions or outright ridicule.

1. GGG bolt release
2. GGG charging handle
3. Ext mag
4. Velcro side saddles
5. Scalaworks Sync mount with an RMR is very nice if your cool with an open emitter red dot.
6. Mod light PLHV2 in one of these mounts:
7. **AVA light mount if you can find one used (no longer make them). There is no more low pro light/sling mount
OR
Impact weapons light/sling mount
8. **If you get a collapsible stock— Impact weapons QD sling mount for buttstock
**stick with the stock forend, especially with one the above light mounts

I forgot the charging handle. I'm giving the red dot some serious thought as well as the velcro cards. I'll give It all some serious consideration. Thanks.

I like the look of F/T charge handle better than GG&G, Just from an aesthetics perspective. What's the deal with rotating handle vs non-rotating? Not sure why you wouldn't want it to rotate?

I went with FFT and have been happy and had no issues not sure either about the whole rotation thing. Not at home or I would go play with it. I did go with the GG&G bolt release

For the full length magazine tube if you want the lightest go with a briley carbon fiber. If you want the most cost effective it's the Daves metal works. I went with the Arms Unlimited charging handle because it was on sale for $10 so figured I didn't have much to loose and its actually quite nice. Also I would recommend the A&S enhanced trigger guard if you don't like the plastic one. I think its also worth it to get the taran tactical AccuGuide Extended Carrier it's helps prevent the factory carrier from biting you when loading shells. If you don't plan on switching out the factory forearms then look at the tango arms stipple job. I would also recommend you browse the benelli usa forum there is alot of info on that forum about upgrades for the M4.

Ditch the PG stock, and get a field stock.

Pg stocks on shotguns suck.

Well, I did it. I bought the Benelli M4 H2O pistol grip from an online place called, believe it or not, "Hunting Stuff". It'll be at my FFL's tomorrow. It was the best deal I could find, no C/C fees, no sales tax, and free shipping. It still almost hit 2K. I also ordered a 7 round tube/Wolff full-length spring, GG&G bolt release, and a 3/4" No spin charging handle. That's all my wallet could take before it exploded and blew off the 3 fingers of my left hand.
I was tempted by the Mesa Tactical aluminum forend but thought better of it, at least for a while. There are so many add ons that would be cool but we have to be sensible...yeah, right.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone used the Muzzle brake/comp thing? It looks kinda like a crocodile? I didn't think brakes actually did anything on shotguns except maybe shredded the wads.

I'll mainly be shooting slugs, as that's my nature, and I can cast slugs. I have a Russian ASM mold that drops what looks like a gigantic pellet with a hollow base. That baby weighs in at 617gr and cloverleafs at 75 yards out of my old Browning Auto-5. I hope it does as well in the Benelli M4.

Half the people love P/G stock the other half hate the P/G and the people who love them...what's up with that?

I'm a fan of the the GG&G charging handle, and have never had it fall out like I've heard about some other brands.

On the flip side, I'm not a fan of the GG&G bolt release. The size and design of the pad are nice, but I have never managed to get it to stay in place. The purple threadlocker they included with it was absolutely pointless, and I can only assume the threads are too fine because neither blue or red versions have worked for me either. Currently I just use my M4 as a range toy so I just retighten the bolt every time I use it. If it were a duty weapon, I'd probably just go back to the stock button, as tiny as it is.

The LOP on the pg stock is notoriously long. I think that might have a lot to do with it being hated.

Interesting. I’d call GGG. Never had mine loosen at all.

You know what's funny? I didn't even think of that. The very first day I took it out after I had installed it, the thing came loose and fell off in my hand. I just figured I had been tricked into buying something that sounded good but was a shit product. Kinda like a lot of the dress-up pieces you see other companies selling for the Benelli and for AR-style rifles. And I just figured they'd refuse to take it back once it had been scuffed up while installing it.

It's been a few years since I bought it, but maybe I'll give them a call anyways and see if they can help me out in getting it to work like it should.
