Suppressors Precision Rifle Bolt Action Suppressor Debate

What cans do I have? I have a Dead Air Nomad-LT, Dead Air Mask HD, Rugged Obsidian 45, Dead Air Sandman-S MIL-Contract, and a regular Dead Air Sandman-S. I know that makes me look biased towards 1 company, but I'm not.

Perhaps but it does sound like you have pretty limited experience.

Well, I’ve shot through a lot of different cans, granted on different rifles that weren’t mine, so I have no idea how they shoot with and without… But as far as really putting them through the paces, and thorough testing, sure I guess you could say it’s fairly limited to my own cans, and for years shooting through a buddy of mine’s AAC cans. I’m certainly no expert…But, I also never claimed to be. I was just giving my $0.02.

Your statement about "inherent accuracy" of silencers is incorrect. Probably because of your lack of experience. Baffle design and mounts effect accuracy. Whether or not the silencers discussed in this thread are more less accurate than one another is debatable but your blanket statement isn't true. For whatever it is worth I have 20 years of experience with silencers and I've seen all kinds of accuracy issues related to silencers.

I will grant you, we're at a point in the maturity of the silencer segment that accuracy is known and engineered for but that doesn't mean one brand's goals are the same as others. However, I continue to see silencers with mounts that likely negatively effect the firearm's accuracy.

It's like watching the Dunning-Kruger Effect play out in real time.

Back at ya. 🖕🏼 I also never once said my shit was scientific... I have, however, stated it was for fun and entertainment purposes only. So, yeah, if you don't like it, don't watch...But judging by how you can't let this go, I'm already living rent-free in your mind. So, I guess the hard work is done. 🤣

I don't believe that I've watched your videos (at least not intentionally), but judging by your response it would seem that I'm not missing anything.

I even gave you a potentially useful concept for some content - figured that with all your knowledge, experience, and cans of various types, you could pull off this testing and provide a worthwhile contribution. If that's your response to a constructive comment, I can't wait to see how you deal with the average YouTube commenter 🤷‍♂️

If this was the first time you’d said it, it would be one thing. But you have made a comment before about how it was worthless and pointless to make such videos without special microphones for sound reproduction, and meters, etc... So essentially you are saying, "Go spend $10’s of thousands of dollars in equipment, and you might make something worth watching." At least, that’s the way your comment read. If I thought you meant it sincerely, instead of snarky, I wouldn’t have jumped the gun.

Those TBAC cans that the guys use at the match in Raton are stupid fkn quiet.
I'm seriously thinking of getting either the 5" or the ultra 7. The 5" is in the lead merely for hunting purposes.
The Ultra 5 Gen 2 are real sleepers, especially the 6.5mm version. Probably going to put one on one of our 6.5 Creedmoor hunting rifles.

No sir, the Ti version isn't available at wholesale yet. Maybe a few months or so? Will have the current Helios QD Monday.

Ahh ok, Josh was teasing it hard yesterday so I was hoping a drop was coming very soon.

I would (and did) personally pick the TBAC Dominus over the ultra 9 for hunting rigs. Main reason is, it's nipping at it's heals in sound suppression and 3" shorter. It's only 1" longer than the ultra 5 as well with better performance.

I've currently got a DT Dominus on a 16.5" .223 AI and it sounds great.

Once you are in the 9" category of cans, you might as well go all in and jump up to the 338 ultra. It's a fantastic suppressor.

From that Ballistic magazine article it seems the SiCo Omega 300, Hyperion, and TBAC Ultra 9 are within tenths or hundredths of an inch all being tighter groups than unsuppressed. Why no love for the Omega? The Nomad L grouping was bigger than unsuppressed. Granted this was only 1 load on 1 rifle, still very eye opening.

Do you like cans with epoxy?

Not arguing your point but I shoot really tiny groups with my Nomad Ti. Granted, the load was done with that can on so...

I own both Omega & gen 1 ultra 7

I have not seen any difference in accuracy between the two, nor any difference from shooting with the compact tbac brake (slight shift poi); I shoot suppressed 98% of the time with bolt guns

My Omega can's epoxy didnt hold after 6-7 years of use and the skin loosened off the body. Also, the rear SiCo factory DT was stuck onto the can which I couldn't get off even using their wrench.

The DT threads for the rear of the can mount seem oversized and not a match to 3 different barrels I wanted to use it on. 2 of which are AI, and a custom spun Bartlein. Have to crank it on to mate the metal surfaces (not reliable), spin the can off the rear end DT mount, or use Rearden devices. I don't like ASR.

Shipped it to SiCo on my dime to fix the 2 issues with emailed and printed out explanations. They shipped it back on their dime, the body re-epoxied but not flush and very sloppy (will post a pic tomorrow morning) and just ignored and did nothing regarding the the stuck rear DT, no notes or written reply.

Wasn't happy with their CS at all and decided to not bother further given that they ignored one issue and didn't really do a good job with the other.

Added heat with a creme brulee torch and the rear did finally come off after some heat was applied. Should've started with that.

Tbac... no issues since day one with CB mounts both compact brake and flash hider (never loose once). No can parts coming apart, no issues with retention, no drama whatsoever. Just reliable and trusty like a full tang blade.

TB will pick up the phone when I call and answer their emails. That's important IMO. Can't do that when your product sucks or you don't back your product.

My next can will definitely be a Thunderbeast.

you might look into Silencer Central and their Banish 30
I would happily trade both of my cans of theirs for 1 tbac. I unfortunately for sucked in and bought 2 of them before I knew better. My tbac cans that I've gotten since are a better product and the people behind tbac are better people. Ive been lied to multiple times by dakota silencer /silencer central as well as several other people I know personally. While the cans are OK they are no tbac

What makes the tbac better? I am new to suppressors and only have the Banish 30. It seems to be well made and is quiet.
