I know I am not going to get OSS type of minimal blowback back in my gun but the can seems to make my rifle run harder than a sandman s. It is a Domnius SR that I used on a Triarc barrel 10.5 and a Criterion Hybrid barrel. Both chucked my brass at the 2 and slammed the buffer back.

I want to try this on a SR-25. Any experience with using this can on a SR-25 or a SCAR 20s? I am going to run the OSS's on my sbrs.

The Sandman-S has pretty low back pressure, not quite OSS but lower than most.

Here is pewscience data on back pressure for .308. So expect even lower on 5.56.

I know the dominus sr was designed to have lower back pressure than tbac's ultra series but to what extent I'm unsure. It has not yet been tested/published by Jay. Maybe @TBACRAY can give you some insight.

Do you have adjustable gas? What buffer and buffer system are you running? These adjustments can do wonders for your host.

Does TBAC even make a 3/4 mount that indexes off the muzzle?

a SCAR 20s

I'm unsure about the 20s but the 16 and 17 are severely overgassed. Most people swap jets and whatnot to get them tuned correctly for a suppressor. Tbh I would probably use the oss on it.

No.

The good folks have the specs, can make them, but demand is high for all their other products that it doesn't seem feasible at the moment. But they will slate some for production in the future, which is TBD I'm told.

No adjustable gas block (TRIARC pinned) and Vltor A5 buffer and spring.

I’m running a Dominus CB on my Scar 20 and settled on a 130 gas jet. My load in Lapua brass is 43.5 Varget lot 5347, 175 Sierra and CCI 34 primer running ~2612FPS. This combo is turning out to be excellent.

Looks a little hot. Those primers are supposed to stay in your brass after firing, just sayin…

With that being said, what are you guys running your Dominus on? Do you use it on a bolt setup or gas gun?

Yes and yes.

Works really well on a 6.5CM bolt gun. It's especially nice on my Sig Cross.

I can't speak to it on a 10.5 setup, but it works fine on my Colt 6940 11.5" upper. With no mods other than a BCM charging handle and a standard H buffer, it's not at all gassy, but it does eject a tad... robustly with M193 (meaning consistently to 2 'o clock). I'll try a heavier buffer and see if this settles things down a bit, but I'm not bothered by the performance - it's not intended to be some sort of ultra-smooth range toy.

It's a bit gassy on a 14.5" Larue with full-power 5.56, even with running a Superlative Arms block wide-open in the bleed-off mode. I suspect the OE Larue charging handle is partially to blame, and will try swapping it out during the next test session.

Haven't yet had a chance to try it yet on a large-frame setup.

On a 10.5 or 10.3, reduce the gas until it's similar in flow to a 0.058 or 0.060 gas port size, and your MK18 will run awesome with a Dominus...

In my case with my gas barrel port around 0.070 is to use a bootleg or adjust gas block?

Hi,

I am not 100% happy with any of them so far.

I use the Seekins low profile adjustable one for guns that are basically "set it once and forget about it." Its downside is that depending on the cartridge, barrel length, gas system length, and barrel gas port size, you might be in a regime in the adjustment screw where a very small change makes a huge difference.

The other alternative I like to do is simply to tap the inside of the gas block (the port where the gas goes in) wiht a 10-32 tap, and then screw in a small set screw, in which I've drilled a hole, IE, 0.060 or whatever. This takes more time to set the first time, and you're limited by hole sizes you can find a drill-size equivalent of.

Another one to look at is the one from Riflespeed, but I have not played with that one. It was designed by a long time industry guy.

@Zak Smith is there an adjustable gas block that you recommend?

I've never seen one that doesn't leak out of the adjustment screw. I've personally settled on SLR. I like that they fit very tight to the barrel, I usually have to thermal fit them into place. They have a good adjustment range. They're lightweight.

If you are leery of adjustable gas blocks you can email black river tactical about their eztune gas tubes. They are reduced size of the gas tube port. You can tell them your barrel, gas port size, suppressor, ammo, etc and they will configure a tube for you.

As Zak said the rifle speed is a great looking new option. Looks to be a great design and very easy adjustment.

I have also noticed my Sandman-S cans are not very gassy, which is very nice. Especially on 5.56 and sub & super .300 BLK. Now I know why. I didn't realize they were that low on the back pressure scale. But it makes sense now. Thanks for posting that.
