I see that mile high has some berger 6.5 CM 153.5 gr factory ammo in stock and I would like to try it. I have a howa 1500 with a 1:8 twist shoots 140s really well do you guys think it would be able to stabilize a 153.5 grain bullet?

Only one way to find out lol...

I believe a few guys have ran the 156 EOL's in 6.5cm and didn't report any problems...besides lower velocities.

I will be founding out soon enough I just purchased some lol, I ran my specs on their “twist rate” calculator on the Berger website and it seem like it should run fine. We’ll see.

Berger’s calculator shows it marginally stable in 1:8 Until you’re around 5k elevation.

1:7.5 is stable in all conditions.

So, the answer is.......maybe.

Though berger also knows most everyone is running a 1:8. So I doubt they would make factory ammo that isn’t stable in most barrels.

This is what am getting according to my data. Temperature may vary since its starting to cool down.

Worked up br2 reloder 26 and 2650 fps node in my gas creedmoor. Quick load says i can go higher, but happy so far

Has anyone used the Berger factory load? (153.5gr)
Any issues? Do they fit in standard AICS mags?

Thanks!

Curious if anyone has played around with this projectile yet, and what results they had in 1:8 barrel?

Have both 20” gas gun and 24” bolt in 1:8 and am thinking of buying a few boxes of factory ammo. Calculator spits out marginal for my parameters.

If you can cycle an overall projectile to 2.950 get them. Im working with a limit on my mag to about 2.815 and my bullet jump is approx.180"

Im gonna try it again this spring- see if i can find an accuracy nodeplaying with bto with jumping to see if they'll work. If not- hornady 140 match or smk on deck
