Hunting & Fishing 2021 hunting kill thread

Shot his first buck last year at 4 1/2 years old, a 130” 9 pt 3.5 year old. This year he passed on smaller bucks and dropped this guy.

Four of us got limits on September 2nd. One son shot his 15 with 23 shells and got a banded bird. Two of us went back out Saturday morning and ended up with 30 doves and two teal. Kimber will be 10 in November, still going strong, but she pays for it the next day.

I joined the the branch covidians monday so I got a 10 day paid vacation from work.
Figured I'd make the best of it so I went deer hunting this a.m. seeing as how it was the 1st day of doe season here in the S.C. lowcountry.
Foggy as all get out...
About good daylight I look over my left shoulder and about 50yds down the fire break theres what looks like a descent doe has me pointed.
No way I was gonna get turned around to make a normal righthand shot so I made a southpaw trick shot.
Well, as it turned out the bullet hits a bit low missing the spine and off through the cut over she goes. Sounded like she went 50-60 yards and crashed.
I get to her only to discover she is a he, a little knothead buck. Looked a bit skinny at first glance but I wasnt too concerned at the time. I didnt bother rolling it over to see the entrance wound, wish I had though, it wouldve saved me a bunch of trouble dragging it out.
So, I get his little dead arse drug out that jungle of a cut over and loaded up that's when I noticed something wasnt right about this deer. His right shoulder was literally skin and bone.
That when look him over good and see the severe road rash on his right elbow. It was sanded off half way through the joint. Phooey, he ain't no good full of infection like that so buzzard bait he is.

My hats off to anyone who takes elk on solo. I always see who is around before I head out. That way I know who I can call if I get one down. I've done solo before, but 2 friends make for less work.

Fantastic pictures, 2 months and hopefully I can add some as well, congrats to all.

Still recovering from the wu flu and bronchitis, coughing my head off nearly ever breath and this dumb yote pup pops out less than 50 yards and proceeds to stride across the food plot with nary a care in the world.
Bad mistake.
Put an old school 75gr Amax through him from my "Salvage" 12 FV when he stopped for a look around on the far side.
That's the 3rd one in less than a month.
Didnt think these critters were supposed to be that easy to kill based on prior experience.
I've seen a fair number over the years while deer hunting but the majority of them were moving along at a high trot like they had some place to be and were running late.
Seldom did they stop and pose up close like the 3 this year have.
Hope they keep up the dumb arsery, they need thinning out.

9 miles into the wilderness, practice long range all year to shoot him at 70 yards bedded down, funny how that happens.

Hells Canyon Armory built 6.5PRC, leupold mk5 5-25 PR2 Mil, rifle sits right at 9lbs

took it down with red lens, used white to find it from there as its head was facing the other way and couldnt see its eyes reflecting. was raining and windy that night, winter here then, spring now.

i rarely use a red lens as i want to make sure what im pulling the trigger on. too many times i nearly took down a sheep :ROFLMAO:

range finder said it was 125m, 136.7 yards.

Caught this guy pushing his harem up the mountain. One shot from my Altus 300 Norma at 650yds sealed the deal.

Wyfox I always look forward to your posts every year - you fill your tags with some nice critters (y)

This post was a few months in the making. My oldest is about to turn 5 and he is pumped up by the prospect that he’s able to put food on the table.

Used a small basic Outfitter (excellent, more later)

18 days total, 13 of them hunting due to moving camp 5x and of course weather.

Kid is pretty handy, started his first colt this summer also
Nice. Let the kids buck out the broncs. I’m not 40 yet and I’m too old for that shit. For real though, sounds like he’s being raised right. Hard to go wrong when you grow up on hard work

Broke in my new crossbow this morning. Sitting on the ground had this guy step out at barely first light at about 21 yards.

He looked at me, I could see that his rack was at least as wide as his ears, so I got a snap shot off. I'm sure he jumped the string a bit, and I got lucky. But I spined him and had absolutely no tracking to do.
