The turkey was dry, she put to much garlic in the mashed potatoes, used way too much butter to make the filling and the gravy was to runny.

The corn, peanut butter jelly sandwich and mountain dew I had was pretty good though.

We had a great time. A few lefties in a group of 19, one made an attempt to stir the pot with his comment "cats are furry republicans because they don't like change". When he failed to get a reaction and the conversation moved on like he had never spoken he made no other attempts at being an Ass.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day

Ours was the same as last year. Didn't happen....mama in the hospital (not covid) SIL in the hospital with covid after having had it a year ago, survived, and vaccinated. Hopefully next year we'll get together and share food and company.

    Hope yours was good.

I'm glad it has ended. I love doing stuff with my kids, but the constant pull about "who's going where to do what" ect.... has just made the holidays a stressful nuisance honestly. (I'm being very polite) I'm so glad this one will be over soon. My Turkey I fried was very good as usual, my kids had fun, so that's cool.

Turkey was dry but the ham was good. Biden took many a verbal lashing from the old folk (older than me, lol) mostly because of inflation and rising energy costs.

I didn't say much during these conversations and kept the power level in check. But honestly they hit quite a few major points so didn't really need to chime in much.

Was just happy to see my folks up and about. They don't get around all that well anymore...

We had a great time, came to TX to hunt whitetail deer with some family. Grilled some ribeye steaks for an early dinner then went to the blind and shot 3 deer. My oldest son shot his first critter besides a gopher, my wife shot one and so did I. 3 shots, 3 deer. Hopefully find a squirrel for the youngest boy today before we head out.

Lol, my 2 cats seem more libertarian than anything. :)

I couldn’t leave my Mother-in-Law’s soon enough. My wife went Tuesday to help her mom prepare for Thursday. I drive over yesterday morning, a 2 1/2 hour drive, for the day. I have dogs at home, so I can’t stay overnight. I get there and my MIL has two new dogs she got from the pound. Those two little bastards yapped the whole time I was there. Then, one of my wife’s aunts shows up, and she fucking ran her pie-hole the whole fucking day. I don’t think she ever took a breath, just ran her mouth for six hours nonstop. I brought guns with me to shoot, but it rained the whole day, so I was stuck inside. It was not a good day. The 2 1/2 hour drive home, fighting traffic, watching for cops, was well worth the time. I spent last night alone with my three quiet dogs and watched a little tv.
Now, all that said, I love my MIL, and she loves me. I’m one of the lucky few who have an awesome MIL that will do anything for me. I usually have no problem going over there and spending a day or a weekend. My wife’s dad even built me a shooting bench in the back yard. But yesterday was just a shitshow, and I couldn’t get out of there soon enough.
The geese were awesome though. This a video my wife took standing im my MIL’s back yard Wednesday morning.

Stage I Dinner (just wife and I) was good! Stage II scheduled for today at daughter’s house! 🙂

Also, fixed my “trigger fail to reset” issue on my Ruger Mark II handgun! Helped make it a better day! 😉 memtb

largest ever at our home, 18 family and s.o.!! huge bonfire later after dark, including our old sofa that dissolved like a flash! wonderful white trash thanksgiving! unfortunately with all the people, only scraps left so wifey and i might have to recreate thanksgiving to get some leftover turkey and stuffin'.

I'm getting over being sick and spent most of Thanksgiving isolated while the wife and kids did the dinner. I only ate very little, but what I did manage to eat and keep down was really good. Today I feel about 90% better and will be enjoying leftovers, green bean casserole, and Black Friday deals on Amazon.

Honestly the left overs are the best part

Every year people don’t show for some butt hurt reason, but I’m there yearly food or no food. I go to see my grandparents if anyone else shows up cool, if not I’m ok with that too.

Wonder what it’s like to have a normal family.....lol

Had my entire family here for Thanksgiving in AZ for the first time ever. Daughter Jen went somewhat manic and took over meal preparations ("You two just sit back and take it easy for once.") We did, it worked great, and we all ate like seldom before. We skipped the Turnip (only I eat it); they were sold out.

No hockey yesterday, if course, but the night before the Knights won 5-2 over the Nashville Predators. We Toasted the occasion with Asti.

    Yep; it's all good.

    Greg

PS We've tried Old Bay for things besides Seafood. In my narrow opinion; it's best as a Shrimp Boil Spice, and sparingly, too.

Test it on a smaller chicken first.

    Define "weird"

OK... wife and I had a great day, she rocked it, made it look easy, and an awesome Turkey Dinner meal was had.

Today, get an email from my Mom - "Worst Thanksgiving Ever!"

One of my cousins kids is in a psych ward on suicide watch... senior in high school.
Another one of his kids brings home her college roommate - and yes, they're "together"...
Top it off - folks make it home, call the kennel where their dog was being boarded - kennel enclosure wasn't latched all the way, all the dogs got out, and my parent's Collie gets hit and killed by a car.

    Weird enough?

Wife, son, and I stayed home. Wife and I have covid. Wife put the ham I got from work last Christmas in the crock pot.

    Pretty much it.

Got to crack open some new whiskey’s with my cousin. All the food was delicious and there were no political fireworks( everyone leans pretty much the same way). I thank every god I can think of for blessing me with a fairly boring family, immediate and extended.

    Hams better, let’s be honest.

I am a BIG ham fan, but since the wife starting brining the turkey and following Alton Brown's method of cooking the bird, I'm happy to eat more than 1 plate of turkey. Look it up, it's an easy way but it's moist and tender. Good Eats!

Those Mexicans in Orange County CA use Old Bay for a lot of things. I was very surprised to see it, much less taste it.

If it were up to me, You sir, get 1st place! That's so awesome.

    Is there such a thing?
I don't think that really exists. What is "normal" anyway? I've come to realize that every family has problems. This Facebook world that so many live in give a very warped picture of what others reality is. Facebook shows a highlight reel of people's families and lives, not reality.

I like to nerd out so the good eats stuff was made for me.

Unless you have someone that knows how to properly fry a turkey! However, that said, we may soon be trying to do a “Crab Boil Turkey”! Should be moist and very tasty! memtb
    Cajun injected fried turkey mmm.

Still prefer ham, it always meant pintos or butter beans with cornbread was coming.
