American Rifle Company Black Friday and Cyber Week Sale

Got an Arch, wrench and a BARLOC on the way. Went with the nut BARLOC. Starting to question that; not the action.
I would forgo the Barloc and spend that money elsewhere. If you really want one I think I have mine and will sell it at half the cost of a new one.

There is a handful of people that will do shoulder prefits and some pretty fast turn arounds if you have your own barrel.

Couldn’t resist pull of this tractor beam sale. Lefty Nuke ordered - carbon barrel options research begins. The spacer ring thang has my attention, still going to email Proof to lobby for ARC prefits though…
I’m in the same boat. FWIW they just responded to me on social media saying it’s not a plan at this point. I think I’ll reach out to carbon6. At one point they told me they’d do an origin prefit, which isn’t listed on their website, for a small custom charge. Other than that looks like straight jacket is it for now

You can always use any savage prefix with the barrel nut. Give Preferred Barrels a look, they do shouldered prefits.

Short action. I’ll be running the 175 elite hunters
Nice. I’m considering some kind of SA magnum bolt head with the binderless magazine we can do 2.960”. Haven’t decided if it’ll be 7 SAUM or 7SS or whatever. Kinda hoping we can get Lapua brass before I go balls deep in a new caliber.

I talked to acouple smiths that offer both the Saum and the SS and all of them told me to stay with the Saum. I bought the action with the same intentions as you and will be staying with the Saum using ADG brass.

Anyone know what the shortest barrel you can get away with on the Xylo using a can?

7SS (<3")<7SAUM<7Max (3.07")<7Mega (3.25")

Good luck on ADG brass , they were supposed to run it this fall. Have had some on order for 6 months or more.

I emailed Carbon Six for estimate on lead times, here’s their prompt reply:

Good morning,

The goal is to get barrels out in 4 months or sooner. Currently we are shipping barrels out in 1-3.5 months from the order date. Due to the national climate we give no promise of completion timeframe.

Thank You,

Gene Gordon

Nice, did they give you any comment on their ability to do an ARC shouldered prefit?

Duh, did not think to ask but obviously should have…I had ran through the order menu and selected Savage small shank w/barrel nut. I’ll follow up with them to see what they say.

A note of thanks to Ted and all at American Rifle Company for great products and one heck of a sale! I have been wanting a Xylo for some time now.

P.S. My M5 Mausingfield from 2015 is still a joy to shoot and own.

could too but we're really not set up for the retail experience. Someday...
We're down to the last couple of days of the sale. Get your orders in.

Ted

I bought another Archemedes. I don't need it, have no plans for another build, but I liked the first one so much I had to get another, just in case....

So while I thank you for the Black Friday sale, my wallet does not.

Too good of a deal to pass for me, first ARC action. Looking forward to getting the archimedes in my hands. Now if someone will pick up my 25 creed barrel and Leica 2800 off the px 🙏🏼

I’ve been using a barrel nut Barloc for years with no issues, the only one I had a problem with was a 30” Heavy Palma shouldered prefit but I primarily attribute that to an incorrect shoulder cut on a heavy barrel.

I caved. Arch inbound. On the fence for the Xylo,.
It’s hard to describe the xylo. But once you get it and start shooting it, it reveals itself and you see the engineering and thought process behind all the small designs and you’ll be like “this is the best chassis right now”. The thing with ARC, maybe I’m wrong but the money goes into R&D and very little in marketing and once you start using their products you’re like ... wait how come no-one else is doing it ?

For me the biggest selling points are:
- The grip
- The flared magwell design preventing binding on a barricade
- The integrated area419 style arca with also integrated anchutz
- The recoil impulse- I can’t explain it but feels better than my MDT/MPA and DTA in the same caliber. It’s also easier to get behind, easier to find my NPA. I shot 3 5 shots .25 moa group on my first time shooting it with factory ammo so, for me, it works. Maybe it’s because it’s machine from one piece of 7075-t6, I don’t know but it’s really enjoyable to shoot. I just got the wife’s ARC 2.0 back from the smith with her Foundation stock so I’ll be shooting then side by side tomorrow.

TLDR, If you already have a MDT ACC and you’re happy with it would it be that much of an upgrade ? Maybe, maybe not. But if you’re looking at a new build - absolutely go with the xylo.

I need a bigger, different cheek rest.. I move it as far back as I can and it works ok.. I do recall Ted, or another from ARC talking about making a change or addition there.

What good is the Xylo with no action in it? Wall art?

The Arch is for a new build ive been collecting parts for and being at the core of the rifle takes priority. Its been on my wish list for over a year.

I have a Nucleus and like ARC products because they are engineering works of art. Im sure the Xylo is no different in form and function. Just damn, after already splurging $900 on the arch, another $900 is excessive. Maybe Ted can offer a layaway plan for us poors.

Wow! There's a lot of action in this thread. I was hunting most of last week and therefore I haven't really been following it but I'm glad to see the high level of interest. In regards to barrels, more SA chamberings are certainly in the works. I killed this nice mule deer buck in Montana last week with a 7-08. I like the 7-08.

Hi Ted,
I'm thinking of doing something similar to your rifle here I was wondering what barrel contour you are using. Thanks.

Hi Ted,

1.25" diameter at receiver. 5" from face of receiver diameter reduces to 0.875" and is constant 0.875" to muzzle thread. Contour is similar to Marksmen or Medium Palma.

That's copied from Ted's website. It's his own unique contour.

I have a Nucleus gen 2 and talked my dad into buying one yesterday since it was such a great deal.

Thanks, I ended up buying a long action Arch to build a multi cal rifle. I love the Archimedes design, I worked out a design like 10 years ago that was similar to the Archimedes but didn't have time to machine it so I was extremely happy to see ARC come out with the Archimedes. Now I just need to decide what to do with the mac bros SS evo that I have still in the box.

I’m in the same boat with my Impact. I’m pretty happy with my two Archimedes and Xylo rigs.

I just had to buy a LH Archimedes to go with my Gen 1 & 2 Nuke's.
Thanks Ted, You make a deal too good to pass up!

Get your Nuke/Medes seriously. Buy the action now and the rest later.

Did some barricades practice today with our nukes.

The xylo balances and shoots better for me than the wife’s Foundation.

On the other hand, surprisingly the ARC 25” barrel shoots 40fps faster than my 26” Krieger for factory Hornady 143 ELD-X (2725 FPS SD 8.5) and shot a 3/4in 3 rnd group at 300 yards.

They’re both keepers but I might swap the Nuke 1.1 for a Medes when it’s time to rebarrel and do some kind of 7mm (maybe a 300-7 PRC or similar)

How is the tolerance on the mac bros actions? Do you need to true them?

I agree on buy now. I bought my second nuc with the barrel for my wife. I have have great results with Criterion barrels.

The Mac Bros action is good to go right out of the box no true up needed.
