Been watching this thing evolve and it's not disappointed yet. Pics from D. Wilson FB page.

@unclemoak any updates on how the bcg and gas block worked out?

They work great. I have the gas turned down so it cycles nice and soft.

Someone actually asked me today what buffer setup I was running and honestly didn't know until I looked in the gun. Turns out I tossed an H3 in there at one point, so I'll have to get a much lighter one and turn the gas down some more.

Appreciate it. Would you mind posting your components and specs when you get it dialed??
I’m wanting pretty much the exact setup. Hoping you’ll offer the service soon.

So final component list is RCA ti bcg, H3 buffer, Superlative gas block? Which spring?

Currently:

Ti RCA bcg
H3
Superlative adjustable gas block in restrictive mode
Standard Spring

Future:

Ti RCA bcg
Lighter buffer (not sure which yet)
Superlative adjustable GB tuned for bleed off mode
Higher power spring

I haven’t had many issues with the current setup aside from two things. I’ve noticed the gun does have the occasional issue stripping rounds out of a fully loaded mag. Duramags seem to be worse than 20rd Magpuls. Because of this, I want to go with a heavier spring, so stripping rounds off a mag is more reliable.

The second thing is gassiness. While the gun does shoot softly, having the can in their puts tons of gunk back into the gun. After shooting 200+ rounds at the match yesterday, my face made it look like I was coal mining all day. I do have to play with the Superlative Arms gas block a little bit since is does have a range of “restrictive” and “bleed off” settings. Currently it’s in restrictive, but I would like to try the bleed off range to see if it cuts down on what’s getting spewed back into the action and onto my face.

My ugly and dirty face after a day of shooting.

Decided to build more of a battle rifle setup with my post sample lower. Currently has a 16" 308 barrel in it, but I might make a 14.5" 6.5CM barrel for it one of these days.

I think it's going to get a NF Atacr 1-8 on top.

I run a 1-8 ATACR on my 13.5" .308. It's a nice, handy - albeit heavy - battle rifle package for running around the woods.

Yes to 14.5 6.5cm

Awesome,

My only thought is the ATACR really pushes its weight into the DMR role, I would check out something like a TA33, under 8oz with mount, decent eye box.

Didn’t someone in here get the factory mws gas block off put a standard adjustable gas block on? I know Lmt drills their ports at an angle but distance from the port to the gb shoulder is standard correct?

I’ve seen guys take the factory GB and make them into quasi adjustable GB, that’s another option.

Yes this is possible on DI barrels. It is not possible with Piston barrel though since the gas port is in a different location.

Another position is to use a BRT EZ-tune gas tube.

I have a brt on one of the 16” barrels but I do like the flexibility of an adjustable to fine tune for specific loads and play with buffers and springs.
Did you rig up a jig to press the factory blocks off? Or heat? I may have to slice it if I do it myself.

Took my MWS and other guns out this last week to let a friend get some long range time in. Shooting to 750m in ~10 °F temps all day, it did phenomnenal with 175 smks. Reliability stayed strong in the cold even with the Brt tube and xh buffer, sans suppressor. The gun saw 100 rounds at 3 different times while the gun sat outside for 8 hours. I did not observe that the cold bore shots significantly deviated from the following shots. Good times were had.

Nice,

I have always had good luck with my LMT's in the winter, They may be heavy, but at the end of the day, they just run.

Is it worth upgrading an MWS lower to the MARS-H lower?

I had two barrels come with an LMT that somehow turned into a whole other gun, no idea how it happened.... first it was just an upper for it… then it was a complete upper for it (so I didn’t have to go through the agony of changing my BCG and CH from one to another)… then next thing I know a complete lower showed up

Yeah, its a pretty cool thing that tends to happen, my second mws started off as a spare barrel, then when i picked up the Mloc upper, that spare barrel found a home in the original upper, got tired of swapping the bcg/CH so i ordered a second set. At this point, it was a complete second upper and lowers are relatively cheap so i picked up a Mars and second rifle was up.

I plan on picking up the extended mloc upper to do a short 6.5 build as well a spec war to replace my cqb

Yea, I bought a 6.5CM barrel for my 308 MWS and yes now its complete. Happened to me twice I reckon.

Ok, enough of the "my barrel turned into another full rifle" shit. I need to hear from others out there, like me, that still have just an extra barrel. My wife would be pissed if y'all influenced me into spending my... sorry, HER money building another gun. 😁😁😁

Better to ask for forgiveness than permission!
Also, on a adjacent thought: don’t be fooled into thinking having your wife shoot is the bees knees. It costs twice as much money!!
