81 mph winds this wednesday. Going to take out my ol’ trusty 6.5 creedmoore and see what i can do. See if the wind dont knock the little turbine out of my kestrel.

We had 80 sustained, 95+ gusts all weekend.

I didn't want to be outside for fear of being hit with flying debris.

There are 22 overturned semis last I looked. Caught a mobile home parade and dumped them all in the ditch. Looks like a tornado deposited a brand new shrink wrapped park in the ditches.

What handles high wind like that better?

MILs or MOAs?

Kestrel? You mean you cant tell the difference in between a 80mph and a 90mph wind?

My little windmate read 110mph no problem. It was behind the fan on my a10 ducted fan rc jet. 90mph should be a beeeze for a kestrel

I'd love to be there and try that....what a hoot. Please update with the days experience.

I have stayed in Garden City while headed to CO several times. KS is ALWAYS windy but 80mph 😳

There are hills near Wichita. When our son was stationed at MCConnel, I remember riding downhill on my bike and actually slowing down do to the strength of the wind.

I used to live there. Learned to shoot beyond 100 yards at the Hutchinson Gun Club with a NM AR-15 when I took op NRA/CMP Service Rifle.

It’s heading my way, they issued a severe thunderstorm watch with a tornado watch just west of here. I’ve seen 80 degrees, tornado watches, and snow in 24 hours before, welcome to Kansas, and no it’s not F&$king global warming!

Damn didn’t realize we had so many Kansas folk here. Wind was a bitch today. Saved two barns on the farm with the weight of the loader tractor and some 8” screws. All in a days work in Kansas. Tomorrow might be t-shirt weather or a blizzard. Who knows

With fully loaded ammo prices so high

and with all the illegals providing so much cheap unskilled labor these days, I just hire one to run the 1000 yards and push my bullet through the target with a hammer.

I stopped missing the target, and stopped shooting other peoples targets @forrestgump01 :D

It's actually cheaper this way

In strong winds I might send two illegals in case one blows away...

In 2001 I did a late winter roundup of bred cows in western Kansas. It got really bad the afternoon. We left the herd corralled up and rode it out in our trucks. The next day we drove out to the interstate which was blocked by drifts of dirt two feet high covered with snow.

We thought it was bad, but an old timer told us stories his grandfather told him about the 1880s. Imagine these winds but is well below zero. And storms like this every week.
