Stayed at the Peabody during a conference in 2008. I remember the briefing we got about Memphis. That gave use maps with perimeter markings and said as long as we stayed within the perimeter we were safe. Step outside and you were on your own. Couldn't round a corner without seeing a cop. Spent a good bit of time on Beale Street.

The morning I left, we passed a Waffle House just outside the "wire" with crime scene tape everywhere. The driver said they had been a multiple homicide the night before that included a pregnant lady and her child.
Is that today or is it like years ago?

I only walked outside the Peabody between the Hotel and Charlie Vergos. Did not venture any farther than that.. Otherwise, I traveled by taxi to the different restaurants. I did do Beale St. and went to the Elvis Restaurant there, as well as a couple of other restaurants I had heard about. I used to take "food trips" where the primary purpose of the visit was to visit some of local restaurants there, having seen them (and the Chef) on the Discovery Channel's "Great Chefs - Great Cities" series. The ultimate visit, this time, was actually in the Peabody itself (Chez Phillipe - where Jose Gutierez was the Exec. Chef). I got a chance to meet him.

Funny you mentioned "The Morning I left." The morning I left was the morning Princess Diana was killed. I woke up getting ready to pack and get ready for my flight, and "that" was all over the news.

Funny story about the Bass Pro / Pyramid...

There's a free-standing elevator in the middle that takes you to the restaurant and observation deck at the top. Last I checked, $10 to ride it, but you got that back if you bought food up top. They grossed $22k opening weekend. I asked why they were charging (other than the obvious - that they could)... Turns out that local code doesn't allow a free-standing elevator taller than so many stories (I forget the number.) However - if it's considered a 'ride', it's exempted from that restriction. Thus, the admission fee. Goes to show; there's always a way.

I moved my family out of violent Memphis back in the late 80s. The local high school had the highest per-capita in-schoolhouse rape numbers in the nation. One of my cars was stolen, I had someone break through the exterior wall in my apartment, and steal Christmas gifts. Anything outside which was not chained in place, was stolen. There was a lot of anti-white rage in that town. If you were robbed at gunpoint, and complied, you would still get shot several times afterward. As for the car I had stolen, the police refused to take fingerprints, as car theft was so common it was not worth their time. There were potions of Memphis the police refused to enter, unless they had full SWAT overwatch. A lone police car entering would get riddled with bullets. I experienced this first hand when I went to recover my stolen car from one of the housing projects.

Burmese are well established in S FL. Not many reticulated found so may not be breeding. Yet!
Have they figured out a way to eradicate them? Or are the just here forever now like the lion fish?

Mogadishu on the Mississippi . . . .

I hope she doesn't get suicided like Jeffrey Epstein. Where's Bill (fill in the blank) Clinton, Gates, TBD.
Give her a year or two to realize her life is over, then expect her to be released or transferred to a country club when she rolls on some big names…

now wait....do you really think that any "big names" of DNC politicians will ever be spoken by her, and that the justice dept would actually reward her for it?

Snake's out of the bag! Problem got too big too fast to ever have a chance of getting under control. Lots of other exotics also established in S Fla and slowly moving north as temps moderate.

Who doesn't like T&A and nice ladies.. but in any case it is not the only joy/desperation in the world. What else is there? For example that below. Got solid consistent hits on 30x60 and 50x100 cm steel out to 800 m, beyond that it was fifty-sixty at 900 (50x100 steel) and no hits at 1000 m (also 50x100). For 20 inch .308 Win rifle (I shot Lapua's 185 grain scenars) it was not too bad, though I do have to shoot more. Practice more.

It's been a long time since I've tried pushing 185's to 1000. IIRC, they were tumbling pretty bad around 900. Calculated that they were probably going transonic.

For your 185s to go trans sonic at 900yds your MV would have to be 2150 ish…… that’s kinda slow

maybe you meant 168’s?
These 185's by Lapua are slow indeed. MV is 755 m/s (2475 fps) by the manufacturer, @20 deg C and for 26 inch barrel. With some degrees below 0 centigrade I would expect the pills to go transsonic somewhere between 800...900 m. I haven't chronoed these myself so I don't know the exact figure for MV.

My apologies I assumed you were handloading those bullets, not shooting factory ammunition……

Funny no one mentions that Trump also was involved.
Because Trump never (ever) showed up on one of Epstein’s flight manifests, Bill Clinton shows up on more than 20 of Epstein’s personal planes flight manifest. Many of Clinton’s plane rides were to the USVI where Epstein had his personal island.

In my old age I'm going to do American masculinity a favor. I'm going to post pictures of real American women. Before photo shop and plastic surgery. Some unfortunate young men didn't have the opportunity to see this type of woman. This is Vera-Ellen 1951.

the guest lists at the NM ranch are at question as well.

I can't believe Trump is still a free man. He's been accused of so many crimes. I mean, it's not like he spent his life in elected office while amassing a fortune. If he had, we would know he is innocent. Did he get away with all these crimes because he was a democrat until recently times? Are the DOJ, IRS, etc, idiots? I'm sure he'll be arrested any day now.

I'll bet Schiff releases a ton of evidence implicating Trump before the year is over.
