Paradise by the Dashboard Light… RIP Meatloaf

Mr and Mrs Loafs little boy Meat.
The soundtrack of my early teens - good night Eddie.

Better off.

The world he sung of is dead.

What type of music do you write in the age of tyranny.

I was never a big fan of Kid Rock but I yearn for the world he wrote his songs for.

You know he lived in Wellesley, right?

So much talent… today we live in an era where pretty idiots who can’t write or sing or show any talent are “stars…”. And lecture us like low-IQ parrots about being good socialists and Gaia-huggers… Manufactured idiots designed to sell crap music to a herd.

This guy who was overweight, fugly and honestly looked like he had chiggers in his hair… was an amazing rock star. He wrote his stuff. He SANG it. He broke molds. He was a true rocker.

Even if his Bat Out of Hell Album was advertised in TV… in a very bizarre (and brilliant) commercial move that sold a ton of LP’s.

Yes, the world has changed. But we still have our music!

PS… for our Millenials… some Meatloaf!

I like most all of the late Jim Steinman’s productions, but the songs / albums he wrote and produced for Meatloaf are tops.

There’s just something about Meatloaf’s theatrical delivery of Steinman’s over-the-top compositions that made them larger than life.

In 1997 I got a weeks detention for suggesting that the Prom theme be “Paradise by the Dashboard Lights” complete with the “lounge” area with old car back seats and the photo area with a dashboard.

Teacher told me the week before graduation over a year later that it hilarious and he loved it, and in a small town could not let it out that he thought it was awesome.
So I got detention.

In 1984, my roommate and his GF won a Lip Synch contest (remember them) at the local bar with this song. Helping them rehearse was a hoot.

That's how I still know every word!

He was well ahead of my time. I discovered his music when Bat Out of Hell II came out. Different era, better music.

RIP Mr Meatloaf. Great songs and great memories. I still have a page of his music on my Spotify and listen regularly. God speed sir.

His name was Robert Paulson.

he was a surprisingly good actor.

and basically he was a rock Opera singer. Seemed to never take himself too seriously, either. another good one is gone.

My mother loves this dude and is literally in shambles. :(

Rage against the machine had a few good ideas back in the day. I believe one was “fuck you, I won’t do what you tell me”

RIP. Thinking of his music takes me back to the days for running around south GA in an old truck blaring a shitty stereo playing Bat out of Hell.

RIP Meat 😞 The first CD my Dad ever bought was “Bat out of Hell”. Pretty sure some of my tinnitus is due to Meatloaf! 😊

Had the Bat out of Hell album at one time. The song Bat out of Hell is still a favorite of mine. RIP. Sad news.

To think Steinman offered him "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "Making Love out of nothing at all" for Bat Out of Hell...

It has nothing to do with being in a small town, your teacher was a little bitch

On a positive note we will continue to hear his hit at every wedding you ever attend.

Say his name...

The man could put on one heck of a fine performance.
This. My older cousin took me to his show when I was a kid and his GF dumped him. I wasn't the biggest Meat fan at the time but I went. Came away with a different idea. Show was awesome, it was a play and a rock concert blended into one. Really one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
