Re: Alabama smith's?
Jody Perry (JP Precision) has built several rifles for me as well as blueing and parkerizing. He is also a Garand expert.
One thing I really like about Jody: He will make you what YOU want. He will throat to your specs, build to your weight specs, full-length bed...
Re: Down to two--Glock 21 or M&P 45
If there were a better handgun than the Glock, I would buy if it cost twice as much. I have never fired the M&P but have owned Beretta, SIG, HK, Colt, etc. and none can compete with the Glock. They run absolutely when nothing else will.
Re: Polygonal rifling
I have Pac-Nor polygonals in 223, 25-284, 260, 7mm Weatherby, and 308. Clean easily, high velocities, good accuracy. Heavy and light contours.
Waiting on Bartlein gain twist barrels for 338 project.
Bought a USMC McMillan smear stock for a M14. It has an orange and red sticker on the butt that says "USMC Shooting Team". Has butt plate, swivels, and several dings and dents so it has been around the block a few times. Paid $300 for it. Did I get taken or was it worth the asking price?
Re: Spec a 308 Suppressed barrel?
Go with a 8 twist MINIMUM for the 240 Sierra. I shoot a 300 Whisper with a 6 or 7 twist from Pac-Nor.
If you are shooting suppressed only, optimize the twist for just that or you will be disappointed.
Ordering a gain twist barrel for the 338. Where to start and finish at is the discussion. I'm thinking 10 twist to start and 6 twist at the end. Should work well with the heavier long for caliber, lathe turned bullets. What are you guys thinking?
