Gunsmithing Had a long break from the site........new lathe

I hear ya my man, took a solid two hours to run the lathe thru the break-in. Had to put another 3.5 qts in the headstock and another 1.5 qts in the gearbox. All in all, I'm not complaining, aside from not being able to find ISO 32 equivalent for the headstock.......thank God for Amazon!

Gunsmithing Had a long break from the site........new lathe

Well, I've been away for some time guys. Took a long break from the rifles and transitioned over to handgunning the last couple of years. However, I've been busy with the "regular 40" at the PD, family and tinkering on the side. I finally got lined out and the new lathe arrived a couple of weeks...

Hey all, My Google-Foo has been weak and half the manufacturers out there don't post ring spacing specs. Working with my latest addition (Precision Firearms 24" in 6.5 Grendel) and I've been looking for a decent SPR mount that won't break the bank. I'm running a USO TPAL and several mounts...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Why so many Pistols w/ mounts ??

Re: Why so many Pistols w/ mounts ?? I have worked third shift as an LEO for 10 of the 14 years I have been on the road. I don't carry a weapon that doesn't have a light, my Glock 21, Bushmaster AR and MP5 are all equipped with lights. It's a lot easier to clear a building in the dark...

Re: "Ol' Faithful" gets a make-over Thanks for the kind words fellas. As for the work, all of my own hand. I left the slide to frame fit alone as she has always ran like a Singer sewing machine and in a word.....reliable. Haven't had the chance to shoot her after the mods but have a...

Sidearms & Scatterguns "Ol' Faithful" gets a make-over

Thought I'd share a few pics of "Ol' Faithful". Started with me as my first duty side-arm almost a decade and a half ago. My father purchased her off of me and he gave her back to me as a gift. I figured she was worth giving a little love to considering I retired her and brought her back...

Gunsmithing S&W 916 trigger guard source

Been searching for a trigger guard for a S&W 916 12 gauge for some time. If you are familiar, the weak link in these old pump guns was that the draw bolt for the stock bolted into a boss on the trigger guard housing. Being made of what looks like pot metal (or aluminum) they were prone to break...
